In the end, the humanoid wolf themed chair, who was groveling under Adam till now as his seat, was freed from his suffering and allowed to stand up again.

Meanwhile, Adam and Natasha found themselves at a certain distance away from the injured wolves who were recuperating from their injuries. It wouldn't really stop them from hearing what they were talking about, given the sensitive hearing of the werewolves, but it didn't really matter to them. They had nothing to hide, at least not in the conversation they were having right now.

"So… It seems like you became even stronger during the short period of time we haven't seen each other, right?"

"You know what they say. Gotta grow to live or something something."

"Haha… Yeah, you're right about that."

She sighed under her breath before speaking again,

"For starters, I would like to apologize to you for what my little sister did just now. She isn't a bad girl but she can be a little too much sometimes."

"I mean… She did instruct them to beat me up if I didn't follow so…"

Natasha cringed visibly after hearing his words, "Yeah… Really sorry about that…"

The fact of the matter was that her sister truly had no malice in doing the things she did. For werewolves, anything of amputation or multiple fractures and silver weapons were just not worth mentioning. That was just their creed— that was the way they lived.

In fact, even as a kid Natasha herself had her bones broken many times by her siblings or broke their bones but this was just a game for them, nothing else.

Fedora was still quite sheltered and she had the bad habit of thinking that all people related to the supernatural had the same self healing capacity or the healing factor of your average werewolf. This came from her limited interaction with the outside world. Something that made her all the more dangerous to other beings.

Like how a human playing with a bear would get crushed even if the bear didn't mean to, the same was the case when a werewolf interacted with a being from another race of the Supernatural world.

However, she explained none of it to Adam.

No matter what the reasonings behind the actions of her sister were… The truth was still the fact that if he was not strong enough he would have been roughed up for no reason whatsoever. Just for a misunderstanding… That was not acceptable by any means.

"I will send you the ransom later tonight. Just give me your bank account."

"You do know that I was joking around, right?"

"I know. But this is a lesson for Fedora. Today it will just be money. Another day it might be something even more important to her. And one day, it will be her life and the life of everyone under her. She needs to understand the gravity behind her actions. She is not a kid anymore."

"Seems like you really love your little sister, don't you?"

"Heh… Well… We may have our differences and we fight sometimes but this is how generally it is with siblings, right? Just a bit more violent I guess."

Though in her case, the tension had been high from the get-go.

The family was worried that her nature as an Alpha of the pack would either cause her siblings to submit to her or cause her to attack her eldest brother in order to increase her powers and authority over the pack.

There was also the off chance of her father killing her or her attacking her father to snatch the position of Alpha from him.

Two Alphas simply weren't supposed to be in the same pack in normal situations. That was the cold and hard rule of the werewolves.

Fighting the feral beast inside her and curbing those destructive instincts had not been easy, and still wasn't. Her father was already strong and mature so it was alright but for them as children, they had been separated and could only spend limited time together with each other so that they could survive from each other.

"Anyway, we have our little problem going on as is with all siblings in the world. But everything is good."

"When people say everything is good… it generally isn't, you know that right?"

Natasha chuckled meekly at those words, "You may have become stronger. But I am happy to see that your words are as sharp as ever."

She smiled as she looked at the wolves in the distance. They were all fidgeting on their feet. Clearly, they were uncomfortable about being within hearing distance of a discussion that should be private.

"You see… I won't enter too much into the details. But soon, I will do something and depending on how it goes. I might lose myself."

Adam frowned at those words. He didn't like how that sounded. He didn't like it at all.

"What do you mean by losing yourself?"

"I won't die, don't worry. At least not in the conventional meaning of the word that is."

"You know. I really hate riddles like this, right?"

Natasha smiled at those words and she recognized that she was skirting around the issue right now.

But she did not want Adam to worry about her either.

'I guess I shouldn't have said anything in the first place.'

This was pretty hypocritical of her if she had to be honest.

She did not wish to worry him, but at the same time, she wanted him to think about her constantly. She knew very well why she was being like this but she couldn't help it.

"This concerns the matter of our family and I cannot speak about them. I'm sorry about that."

This clearly meant that she didn't want to speak more about this. But Adam already shelved this in his mind to pursue later on.

He would ask Yui everything she knew about what the hell was going on. In the worst case, he would simply barge into Natasha's home and make them spill everything if he had to.

"So. Anyway, what brought you to school today? Pretty sure you have been skipping classes for a long time."

This was a pretty obvious way of changing topics but Adam simply shrugged his shoulders before speaking.

"I have my reasons."

She grimaced at the lopsided smirk that immediately stretched along his face as he uttered that line, "I guess I can't ask for more details with how I rebutted you earlier."

But soon only a sad smile remained on her face as she spoke in a soft tone, "So you are also dropping out, huh."

Adam stopped smirking, understanding the emotions going through her heart.

He felt the same way, after all. Looking at the campus that had so many memories of them over the last two years.

"In the end, the four best students all left school. How ironic…"

"Heh. We were misfits anyways. It's for the better."

Natasha couldn't help but laugh out loud. A group of people that had logically nothing to do with each other.

"One vampire, a werewolf, and two humans. It was indeed a funny group."

"Wait… What? Dial back a little. A what?"

"Ah…"

Natasha's eyes widened into saucers as she recognized that she had been ignoring one important fact.

"Right… You didn't know, huh? Oh my…"

She groaned ever so slightly at leaking out that crucial piece of information. Divulging the secret identity of someone else was not exactly the best thing to do but in this situation, Adam had the right to know.

"Alberto is a vampire. Initially, I thought that he stopped coming to school because of the matter with Jack the Ripper… But now it seems like he has his own difficulties."

"This… Well… I guess we really were a weird group all the way, weren't we?"

A vampire, a werewolf, and a succubus. Finally, there was him, the Primogenitor of a race he himself had no idea about.

It was funny how the three first primogenitor races were all reunited together alongside an incoming new one.

Just how high were the chances of something like that happening?

Was it what they called Fate?

Adam didn't know. He wasn't at the level where he could worry about fighting against Fate or whatever this abstract thing was.

All he could say in this situation was that…

"Having you guys as friends was perhaps the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me over the years."

The fact that he only had four people he could call friends outside of Yui and Mammoth spoke volumes of his inability to fit into society.

He had not been an introvert so much as he simply didn't care about other people most of the time.

"I am also very happy to have you guys. I am even starting to miss the disputes I used to have with Sae. Even though how annoying they were."

"I would have never thought that you would turn out to be a masochist."

"Pfft. There are many things you don't know about me. Though my sexual tendencies are a different matter."

"...And what if I want to learn more about them though?"

Natasha fell silent almost immediately. The innuendo in Adam's words was clear and limpid.

Had it been any other time, she would have been overjoyed by those words of his.

But now…

"Well. I guess you will have to wait until the 10th to get an answer from me regarding that."

Once the night of the 9th went by. Her destiny would be clear.

All she could do now was to prepare herself mentally for what was to come.
