The Great Thief

Chapter 1641 - Into the Undercity

Luckily, Lu Li picked up a copy of The Diary of Weavil.

When Lu Li opened it, he was sure of one thing – Doctor Weavil was a good kid who wrote in his diary every single day. You could even say he was constantly recording everything. He had probably designed an engineering robot that recorded everything that happened to him all the time.

As for the stuff that Doctor Weavil dropped, Lu Li was not going to take part in the distribution of it.

After all, it was a special quest Boss. Because he wasn’t considered as a monster, there wasn’t any reward for a First Clear. Nevertheless, he had still dropped some rather valuable Epic equipment.

Lu Li studied the writing and compared it with the other style of the Diary of Weavil. From his perspective, most of what he read was deemed nonsense, and a rare minority of information was actually contained within.

For example, one sentence read, “No matter how unpleasant the memory, there were still times when it would appear again uncontrollably. I always remembered the beautiful cow on the green grass of Mulgore. Her beautiful eyes stared at me as if they were beating my head to pieces like colourful totems. Since then, I could no longer look directly at fierce women…”

What was this nonsense?! He had just been attacked by Magnatha’s Grimtotem and her entourage, and then was chased to the point of peeing his pants. He only got away because he had enough bullets.

Why was this writing so undulated?!

Hence, Lu Li had to make a lot of effort in order to find clues.

As to why he didn’t give it to Hachi Chan, who was beside him, to read…

Well, there was too much explicit content in the diary. Lu Li couldn’t bear to taint this child’s innocence.

He could find the book according to the clues. There wasn’t much to say about chapter one – Lu Li had already gotten it from Doctor Weavil. The 2nd chapter had a small probability of dropping from the Blasted Lands’ demons, while the 3rd chapter would drop from the Silent Language Canyon’s Hederine demons. This all didn’t matter. In any case, if the drop rates were low, then they just had to kill more monsters.

The clue related to the 4th chapter made Lu Li want to kill himself!

Undercity!

What was worse was that it was something that only he himself could see. He couldn’t even spend money to employ help from a local.

To infiltrate Undercity by himself?

He was just a mere level 60 Thief. Even Thief legends like Garona wouldn’t necessarily be able to make it back. Of course, this was only Lu Li’s guess. As to whether his mentor could come and go freely in Undercity was not known to him – this severely limited the scope of his imagination.

Luckily, he could still consider transforming, not into a different form, but rather a temporary transition between factions.

The Noggenfogger Elexir could allow players to turn into Undead, regardless of whether you were a Horde or Alliance player. However, this type of transformation tool was similar to that of a toy. It was useless in front of NPCs. Otherwise, there would be Alliance players everywhere in Undercity.

Lu Li did actually have an even more high-end transformation tool – the Deception Orb.

This item was hard to obtain. At the moment, there weren’t many in the entire game.

Deception Orb (Special): Makes the caster a member of the enemy faction. Lasts 1 hour, cooldown 4 hours. It can also be customised to a temporary ID, race and profession.

Different Deception Orbs had different effects. He saw others on the forums showing off their posts. The one that a player posted was far worse than his. It only lasted for 10 minutes, but the cooldown was as long as 24 hours. Moreover, it could only transform between corresponding races. For example, Night Elves could only change into Undead, Humans could only transform into Orcs, and so on.

Not long ago, he had taken a big one from Glory Capital. This was because the two players from Glory Capital used the transformation tool to infiltrate Stormwind City and stole his quest.

Lu Li knew that sort of transformation tool. To be more precise it could be called a potion.

The only downside was that every potion could only be used once. The price for producing it was incredibly expensive, plus, it couldn’t change the player’s information. The only advantage was that you could interact and trade quests with the enemies’ normal NPCs.

Lu Li quietly flew near Undercity, then used the Orb and turned himself into an Undead.

Undercity was the home of the Undead.

Before entering into this city, he had done a lot of preparation.

First, he found a very reliable mercenary group – Steel Rice Bowl.

Steel Rice Bowl had a well-regarded reputation amongst mercenary groups. It wasn’t because their capabilities were so powerful. In fact, their abilities were rather underwhelming. If you employed them to achieve a First Clear or kill some important character, then there was no way they would be able to do it.

Plus, they were very expensive.

Their only positive aspect was that they kept secrets and were loyal!

This mercenary group truly saw their customer as god, which was seen as an absolute rule. For decades, they would not sell out their employers, even in the face of great temptation.

Of course, they weren’t amazing. As long as the employer asked them to do something, they did it. So, they had done a lot of rotten things.

Lu Li wanted them to do something simple. When he needed, he wanted them to keep anyone who could interfere with him or any NCPs occupied. Otherwise, they would help him clear any obstacles. For this small, simple request, he paid the price of 5000 gold coins.

He didn’t dare to casually ask anyone to come help in case any news leaked.

It didn’t matter to die once or twice. He was more concerned if someone messed up his quest.

Additionally, he brought out a pirated copy of the Undercity’s map and started analysing it carefully.

Dawn was a game with a lot of arduous terrain. There were many Instance Dungeons and wild tunnels, but these were all nothing in comparison with Undercity.

Undercity was situated in the underground depths of the Lordaeron Kingdom. These royal graves had now changed into the base of the Undead.

Nearly all players who had gone to Undercity had been lost there before. Even players who had lived there for years had the same issue. If Lu Li threw Hachi Chan in here, she would probably have to live the rest of her gaming life in this city.

Undercity’s elevator was located in the depth of Lordaeron’s ruins. Once you took the elevator down, a sprawling underground kingdom would appear before your eyes.

There were three floors in the underground palace. The 1st floor was the largest with a circle of four outer halls. The 2nd floor was in the centre of the circular underground city, with a cage-like bank in the centre that was surrounded by a number of NPCs. The 3rd floor was a circular inner layer, with a number of small houses along it. There were flight attendants, weapon stores and hotels, among many other things there. You could see the end point of the elevator descent towards the guarded ring outside.

Lu Li needed to get into the 3rd floor. One moment of carelessness along the way could lead to him being completely lost.

If he accidently fell into the arms of Queen Sylvanas, he could forget about this entire operation. Even if he deceived the rest of the planet, he would no doubt be whipped to death by the Queen.
