The Blue Eyes

Three days later, four figures sitting in the living room of the orphanage.

The scene was similar to the scene that happened not too long ago when four figures also sitting in the same room. The two scenes were only similar because there was a difference.

Yeah, the elderly lady with grey hair was no longer there. A young man replaced her position sitting beside Blue.

Kris was sitting beside Kevin, and opposite them, Jack and Blue were sitting side by side.

It's still early, but the couple decided to visit them in the orphanage. Kris was the one to initiate the meeting, so the other three patiently waited for him to speak.

"I think three days is enough for us to grieve over our parents' death, and we have to move on quickly to bring back the peace to the city. That's why I gather all of you here today."

Kris started his speech, and the other three just listened to him earnestly.

Kevin was quiet in the past three days. He seemed like want to run away from this drama for a moment, so in the past three days, he and Kris only cuddled in Selena's apartment without talking about anything related to the situation they were facing.

But deep inside his heart, Kevin had a lot of unanswered questions, and perhaps Kris could answer his questions today.

"First, I want to talk about the antidote to make werewolves return to normal humans."

That one sentence was enough to win Kevin's attention. The scientist now looked at Kris in surprise.

"The antidote? Did my mom find the antidote?" He asked enthusiastically.

Kevin was surprised, but Jack and Blue remained calm because they already know about the matter. The one thing they didn't know was about the antidote's whereabouts.

Kris stared back at Kevin and nodded.

"Do you remember the moment when we told you about Professor Selena's first plan to just hand you over to Professor Joseph and the werewolves?" He asked, and the latter nodded as the answer. "The reason why the professor came up with the plan was not merely to let you ambush them when they're off guard, but that's related to the formula inside your body."

Now not only did Kevin who looked surprised and confused, but Jack and Blue showed the same expression as well.

"The real reason was the antidote inside your body, Kev."

Kevin widened his eyes in surprise at Kris's sentence. Both Jack and Blue also reacted the same.

"Are you kidding me? The formula inside my body is the one that was created by my father seventeen years ago, right?"

Kevin was in disbelief when he asked the question, but, to his dismay, Kris shook his head firmly.

"That's just Professor's Selena another trick. The formula in your body was created by your mother. The formula was originally the antidote to return the werewolves into normal humans, but for the sake of your safety, she modified it so that it gave you powers to protect you."

Kevin was speechless when he heard Kris's elaboration.

"If we handed you to Professor Joseph, he would extract the formula and inject it into the werewolves' bodies. After the injection, the werewolves' DNA would modify back to normal, and the werewolves would return to normal humans. But, we didn't dare to take the risk. If Professor Joseph found out the plan, it surely would endanger your safety. That's why I opposed the idea."

The black-haired man was shocked by Kris's explanation. So, his mother did another trick all this time? She also did another trick with him and not only with Blue? Both formulas inside his and Blue's body were not Joseph's formula but Selena's formulas?

Not only Kevin was appalled, but Jack and Blue were also astounded by Kris's explanation. Just how many plans did Selena have? There was another trick behind one trick?

"If that's the truth, then where's the formula that was created by my father seventeen years ago?"

Kris sighed briefly and looked at Kevin's eyes deeply. "The formula is inside my body."

That answer unquestionably surprised the three listeners in the room. What the hell was just happening? There was so much drama in this!

And the funniest expression seemed to be Jack's expression. All this time he was focused on Blue, assuming that Blue was the child in the prophecy.

He opposed Kris, and he fought Kris to win over Blue to get the powerful power that had been waited for seventeen years, but it turned out that the power was in Kris's body all this time! Jack suddenly felt so dizzy.

"When we fought Mario three days ago, when suddenly your eye color changed, when your aura color also changed, and your power also increased drastically, was that because of the formula?"

Kevin finally asked a question again. Yeah, he remembered how Kris changed three days ago, but because he grieved over his parents' death, he had not asked the latter about that matter.

The caramel-haired man nodded.

"That's right. Seventeen years ago, after the Professor finished injecting two different formulas in your body and Blue's body, she worked on Professor Joseph's formula. She modified the formula before injecting it into my body."

Now Kevin was the shaky one. Was his mother really a human? There was a lie behind a lie, and that was unpredictable!

Nonetheless, he had to admit that Selena was very good at fighting Joseph. If she didn't do all of that, maybe Joseph would win then.

"That's the truth related to the antidote and Professor Joseph's formula," Kris continued his speech. "When Kevin's ready, we can extract the antidote from his body and can inject the antidote to the werewolves' body. After the extraction, Kevin will return to a human again. And, Blue. Professor also prepared an antidote for you if you want to get rid of your power. That's your choice."

This time, Kevin sighed and massaged his temples using his hands.

"Kris, my head feels like exploding now," he stated tiredly. "Do you still have other secrets that you want to reveal today?"

Kris suddenly looked a bit tense. He gulped nervously and glanced at Blue.

"Yes, there's one more secret," he answered softly.

Kevin gazed at Kris in disbelief. Was he serious? He still had another secret?

"This one secret is related to Blue," the burly man spoke up again.

Blue, who was silent all the time, now seemed startled after hearing Kris's sentence.

"Blue, don't you want to know who your real parents are?" Kris asked seriously while looking at the girl. The said girl looked puzzled, but she still nodded her head. Seeing the response, Kris continued, "Your parents are my older cousins. You are my niece, Blue."

Blue was shocked, Kevin was shocked, Jack was shocked too.

"Are you kidding, Kris?" This time, it was Kevin who asked.

"I'm serious," Kris replied. He looked at his lover for a moment, then turned back to Blue. "It's a long story, but in short, Professor Joseph needed a baby for his mega project in 2021, and it just so happened that my cousin's wife was pregnant at the time, and the baby she was carrying was you, Blue."

Everyone in the room stared at Kris in shock. Besides the confused expression, they also demanded more explanation from the caramel-haired man.

Kris felt pressured when he was attacked by the demanding looks, so he decided to tell the real story.

He told the same thing that Selena told Mike because he knew all the stories from Selena.

He recounted the tale of Mike, who became Joseph's first experiment as well as being the first werewolf in the world, then about Joseph who continued to use the Allaband family as an experiment that caused them to die because the experiment failed, leaving only Mike's older brother alive.

He also retold the narrative about how Mike's older brother lived his life until he had a son, then the story ended with Joseph killed the son of Mike's older brother and his wife to get a hold of baby Blue.

"Professor Joseph did all that because when he was a baby, he was adopted by the Allaband family, but he was returned to the orphanage after my father's older brother was born. My father's older brother is your Grandpa, Blue. All that was done for revenge."

Kevin, Blue, and Jack were left speechless after hearing Kris's long story. Was their destiny really that complicated?

"So..." Blue finally spoke up softly after she fell silent. "Are you really my uncle?"

Kris smiled softly, and then answered the question, "That's why I told you from the start that my only intention was to protect you, Blue."

Blue eyes filled with tears at Kris's words. Without warning, the girl got up from her seat and dashed to Kris. She enveloped the older man's big frame with a tight hug.

Kris was startled, but then he returned the hug of his niece no less tightly. He could feel his shoulder wet. Blue was crying there.

"I'm sorry for my attitude all this time, Uncle."

Kris was stunned by Blue's whisper, but afterward, he smiled with relief.

He smiled with relief because finally, he could say all that he had been buried deep in his heart. He turned a little and saw Kevin was gazing at him deeply. The young scientist seemed to be crying silently.

Kris waved his hand at Kevin, asking the young man to come closer to them. Kevin wiped his tears, then quickly joined the warm hug. He hugged both Kris and Blue very tightly. All of this was unexpected, but one of the unexpected things turned out to be a sweet surprise.

Too many years had passed, too many tears had been wasted, and now was the time for the three of them to find happiness.
