Ceng Mo chuckled and flicked his cigarette. He walked towards Lin Nuan and whispered in her ear, smiling, “If Song Yao dies, the blood is on your hands!”

Lin Nuan suddenly felt her heart hang in mid-air. An unspeakable fear washed over her.

Hearing Liang Mulan’s footsteps as she came downstairs, Ceng Mo flicked his cigarette in the ashtray and stood up. He gave Lin Nuan one last cold glance and said goodbye to Liang Mulan.

Liang Mulan was slightly surprised as she fixed her cardigan. “Aren’t you going to wait for Lin Chen to return?”

“I just received a call and have to attend to some business. I’ll come visit again if you have time…”

Lin Nuan walked Ceng Mo to the door with Liang Mulan, her heart filled with concern for Song Yao.

Before getting on the car, Ceng Mo glanced at Lin Naun and said, “Miss Lin, do remember to pass the message to Miss Song!”

“My friend knows him.” Lin Nuan didn’t want to talk about it with Liang Mulan and diverted the subject. “When will father and brother reach home?”

“Very soon!” Liang Mulan held Lin Nuan’s hand and patted it gently. “Your father knows a young man from the agency. His surname is Cui, and he’s a decent guy—he’s the one who sent your father back! I met with him already. He’s good looking and well-spoken.”

“Mother, you can’t help but introduce any guy to me now can you? Are you afraid that I won’t find a guy to marry any soon?” Lin Nuan smiled as she spoke in her sweet and soft voice.

Lin Nuan was still relieved to see Liang Mulan full of energy and even smiling vibrantly, as compared to her dismal state that night.

“Do you think I would be this concerned if you considered your senior?” Liang Mulan squeezed Lin Nuan’s petite hand tightly and went through their history again. “How about you try considering your senior again? If so, your mother and father would both be relieved. What do you say?”

The black iron gates of the Lin House suddenly opened, and a black car drove inside.

“They’re back!” Liang Mulan rejoiced as she glanced at the car, beaming. Her eyes grew slightly wet as the car approached them. “Your grandfather went through a lot for his two sons, and he’s already that old.”

Liang Mulan didn’t go into detail with Lin Nuan.

When the elder Lin was young, he was a capable and powerful figure in business and politics. He still commanded his power even after retiring.

He had to put his dignity on the line to beg for favors and save his two sons.

As the car parked at the door, Lin Jingquan came out of the car. Yet Lin Chen was nowhere to be seen.

“Father…” Lin Nuan smiled at him, her eyes growing wet.

Lin Jingquan nodded and smiled. He was wearing gray sports attire. Within a few days only, Lin Nuan felt that Lin Jingquan had grown older. Yet his energy level appeared to be higher than before.
