Jin Liwei brought Iris to a sitting area near the nursery room. Lu Zihao and Long Jinjing had already arrived there first. It seemed that Jin Liwei and Lu Zihao already knew about the surprise while their wives remained clueless.

"Do you know what Bacon and Ketchup got for the kids?" Long Jinjing asked her sister.

Iris shook her head. "They refused to reveal what they prepared for their baby brothers and baby cousins. They want it to be a surprise."

"I see." Long Jinjing looked excited. "Zihao tells me that they'll show us the surprise first before letting the babies see."

The two sisters continued guessing among themselves what kind of surprise Bacon and Ketchup prepared for the four babies. Then the two cat AIs finally spoke.

"Mommy, Auntie Jinjing, the surprise gifts are here! Meowowow!"

"Please prepare yourselves, Mother and Aunt Jinjing."

Finally, there was a brief knock on the door. It opened and five people entered. Each of them was holding a leash. At the end of each leash was a German Shepherd puppy.

"Oh!" Long Jinjing covered her mouth. Her eyes danced with eagerness to pet the adorable puppies but her husband held her back.

Iris was also surprised. She had many guesses but puppies weren't among them.

"These handlers in charge of training these protection dogs are my own people," Lu Zihao explained. "They will work on pairing and bonding each dog to the children. The children and dogs will grow up together and solidify their bonds. Rest assured that the handlers will train the dogs well to prioritize their assigned masters' protection above anything else."

Jin Liwei nodded. He looked satisfied while observing the five puppies. Although the puppies were still young and small, they appeared well-trained already. They sat there without running around.

"There are five puppies," Iris said. "There's one for Little Jun as well?"

"En," Jin Liwei replied.

She smiled and felt pleased. She was also very proud of Bacon and Ketchup for not forgetting about their older cousin, Little Jun.

At last, the handlers allowed everyone to interact with the puppies. It was as if a switch had been turned on. The puppies wagged their little tails and jumped around.

Both Iris and Long Jinjing felt like their hearts were going to melt from all the cuteness.

"Have these puppies been named yet?" Iris asked the handlers.

"Not yet, Young Madam."

"Then I will name them!"

Before anyone could stop her, Iris already started pointing at each of the puppies and naming them.

When the names had been set, even the handlers, all of them veritable Shadow Winds members, couldn't stop their lips from twitching. These puppies were being groomed to be fierce protection dogs who would defend their masters to the death from any danger and yet they had this kind of names? It was like naming a deadly missile "Strawberry Shortcake" or something ridiculous like that.

Lu Zihao glared at his brother-in-law as if telling him, 'Why didn't you stop your wife?'

Jin Liwei only shrugged. He didn't think that it was a big deal. Ever since his wife named their first pair of cat-children Ice Cream and Popcorn, he had already long been brainwashed into thinking that his wife's naming sense was extremely creative and wonderful. Nobody could match her.

As for Long Jinjing, she couldn't help but pity the cute puppies. She sighed before resuming to pet the little balls of energy. Soon, a smile was back on her face.

"Oh, look! They love their names! I knew it. The names I gave them are perfect for them. Right, darling?"

"En." Jin Liwei's gaze was soft on his wife.

Iris kept repeating the names of each dog to reinforce them as early as possible.

The handlers taught Iris and the others how to reward the dogs with treats for good behaviour.

"Let's bring the kids in," Jin Liwei announced.

Soon after, the nannies carried the four babies in. Jiang Ying Yue came not long after with Little Jun. Lin Yehan followed them inside.

"Doggies!" Little Jun was excited as soon as he caught sight of the cute puppies. "Look, Mommi, Anko Han! Doggies! Lotsa doggies!" (Dogs! Look, Mommy and Uncle Yehan! Dogs! Lots of dogs!)

"Yes, Little Jun. You're right," Jiang Ying Yue replied before looking at Iris and the others, silently asking them with her eyes what was happening.

Lin Yehan rubbed Little Jun's head. He already looked like a dad doting on his own son.

Lu Zihao once again explained the purpose of the puppies as protection animals for each of the children.

"Oh." Jiang Ying Yue nodded. Her background was in security so she was supportive of protection dogs. Then she became touched and grateful because her son wasn't forgotten.

The handlers then worked on carefully introducing the puppies to each of the children, including Little Jun. The puppies were all well-behaved and didn't pounce on any of the babies, thank goodness. Little Jun went ahead and chose a puppy for himself while the handlers decided which puppy to match with which baby.

Iris hugged her happy godson. "Little Jun, this is Gravy. Your puppy's name is Gravy."

"Gwaby! Cyoot Gwaby! Junjun wuvs Gwaby, Mama!" (Gravy! Cute Gravy! Junjun loves Gravy, Mama!)

Iris laughed and kissed her godson's head.

Finally, the other puppies were also matched to the babies.

Little Mochi got Pudding.

Little Matcha got Chowder.

Little Misha got Ham.

And last but not the least, Little Dima got Mash, short for Mashed Potatoes.

Lin Yehan became speechless for a while after hearing the names of the puppies. He glanced at his third brother. Jin Liwei looked carefree as if nothing was wrong with his wife's naming sense. Then he glanced at his fifth brother. Lu Zihao's expression was unreadable as usual.

He could only sigh. He glanced at Jiang Ying Yue. It was also hard for him to read any of her expressions when she wasn't being shy. Her training as a bodyguard included controlling her expressions. She was good at it but not as good as Lu Zihao.

The adults supervised the meeting and first bonding session between the children and the puppies.

Gravy's handler already began teaching Little Jun the basic trick "sit". Little Jun was over the moon with joy when his puppy sat down after he commanded it to "sit". He clapped his little hands as his joyful laughter filled the sitting area.

"The fat, grey brat will go crazy once she sees these dogs," Lu Zihao commented. A devilish smirk appeared on his face.

"Ah." Iris became worried about Ice Cream. She wasn't that worried about Popcorn. The striped, ginger cat was extremely friendly and affectionate—almost dog-like. Ice Cream, on the other hand, was extremely territorial.

"She'll need to get used to these puppies whether she likes it or not," Jin Liwei said. He wasn't as worried as his wife.

"Ice Cream is very protective of her baby brothers and baby cousins," Long Jinjing interjected. "I think that once she sees the puppies protecting the babies just like her, then she'll eventually accept the puppies by the babies' side."

Lu Zihao snorted. He thought that his wife was being too optimistic about the fat, grey brat. Still, he didn't correct Long Jinjing.

The handlers took the puppies away to prevent overstimulation today. They would bring back the puppies tomorrow for another bonding session with the children.

Little Jun was heartbroken. He kept crying for Gravy. Jiang Ying Yue and Lin Yehan worked together to coax the little guy.

Iris kissed her twin sons and her twin nephews. "Everyone is so brave today. Nobody was scared when meeting the puppies."

Little Mochi stiffened at first when the puppies started sniffing at him but he eventually started waving his little mittened hands and little socked feet. It was clear that he liked the puppies, especially his own one, Pudding.

Little Matcha didn't show much reaction at the get go. He looked indifferent, resembling his dad Jin Liwei so much. Even so, he eventually showed a toothless smile at Chowder.

As for Little Misha and Little Dima, they were still too small and young. But since they didn't cry or fuss, then it must mean that they also liked their own puppies, Ham and Mash respectively.

Later that evening, Iris just finished her nightly Orchidia Beauty skincare routine. She found her husband in the bedroom rocking their eldest twin son, Little Mochi, to sleep. Little Matcha was already fast asleep in the crib.

"Liked the puppies?" Jin Liwei asked.

"Yes, of course. They're so cute and looks well-trained already." Iris smiled while hugging her husband's waist.

He pulled her whole body closer to him. "It was Bacon's idea to give something for his brothers and cousins' protection and security. I discussed it with Nikolai and we both came up with the idea of protection dogs. Then Bacon and Ketchup pooled their money together to get the puppies and also pay for the puppies' necessary supplies and even part of the handlers' salaries."

"The handlers are all Shadow Winds members, right?" Iris asked.

"En, they were but not anymore. They're now officially members of our own security team. Nikolai's intention is for the handlers to also double as the children's personal bodyguards."

She nodded. "It's good to cut off the connection to Shadow Winds, at least on the surface. Just in case something happens someday. Then the children won't be implicated in anything."
