Long Hui finished up his public apology. Then the livestream ended amidst a flurry of mixed comments from netizens. The majority still continued to criticize him, many of them were Black Stars.

The Black Stars knew that their Boss Iris and her husband CEO Jin stood behind Jiang Ying Yue and Lin Yehan throughout the defamation case. They all felt vindicated now that the defamation case ended and the judge ruled in favour of Jiang Ying Yue and Lin Yehan. Long Hui deserved his punishment.

However, some of the Black Stars were still not satisfied. They were upset that Long Hui didn't apologize to their Boss Iris. He also made many nasty comments about Iris Long, his own sister, while humiliating his former fiancée and the mother of his child in public. He didn't mention Iris Long in his public apology at all.

Overall, Long Hui's public apology didn't even last more than two minutes. He also spoke slowly so the words were actually very few when added altogether. His apology was very short.

Back at Dragon Palace Home #10, there was silence when the livestream ended.

"Quite well-rehearsed," Jin Liwei commented. He was the first one to break the silence.

Iris nodded. "He must have hired a public relations team to help him with this apology. Pale, haggard appearance. Slightly dark under-eyes. Clean white shirt. Humble tone. Deliberate pauses to make him sound like he's trying not to choke on his contrite emotions."

Lu Zihao snorted. His impression of Long Hui was the worst. He didn't care much about Long Hui's feud with Jiang Ying Yue and Lin Yehan. However, Lu Zihao was upset about all the nasty things that Long Hui said about Iris. He also agreed with the Black Stars that Long Hui should have apologized to Iris as well.

He, Lu Zihao—no, Nikolai—treasured his little sister so much. All his protective feelings remained even when he and his sister had been reborn into different people.

Then look at Long Hui. Iris Long was his biological little sister too and yet he couldn't wait to push her down for standing in the way of his ambitions.

Nikolai had no respect for a petty, cowardly and narrow-minded man like Long Hui. In short, he didn't believe a damn thing that Long Hui said in his public apology even for one bit.

He had a lot of things to say about Long Hui, that scumbag, but he didn't want to waste his precious saliva on such a petty man. Oh, right. He almost forgot that his wife was also Long Hui's blood sister.

Long Jinjing looked upset.

"Don't stress yourself out," he told her. "He doesn't deserve any of our thoughts at all."

She nodded and sought her husband's embrace for comfort. While watching her eldest half-brother's public apology, she actually believed Long Hui's sincerity. It was only after hearing Jin Liwei and Iris' comments about the possibility of Long Hui hiring a PR team to intentionally create a repentant image of him that Long Jinjing's hope for her eldest brother was dashed.

She had always hoped for Long Hui to realize the errors of his ways and work on improving his relations with their side. If only he could apologize from the bottom of his heart and make it up to all the people he hurt, then he would surely be forgiven one day. She felt disappointed that Long Hui's public apology wasn't genuine.

Lu Zihao pulled her into his arms. His expression showed nothing but he was enraged deep inside. His beloved sister, Evelinka, had already been targeted multiple times by Long Hui. And now, even his wife, Long Jinjing, was affected by the man's actions. Long Jinjing was still in the middle of therapy to prevent post-partum depression. He didn't want his wife's mental health to be aggravated because of a scumbag like Long Hui.

In another couch, Lin Yehan was worried about Jiang Ying Yue. He was still holding her hand. He could feel it trembling a little. It was very faint. If he hadn't been so conscious of her presence, then he might have missed it.

"Are you okay?" he asked her in a whisper.

She stood up abruptly. Everyone looked at her.

"I…I want some fresh air," she announced before rushing out of the lounge room without waiting for a reply.

Since Lin Yehan was still holding her hand, he also followed her out. Jiang Ying Yue didn't seem to notice that he was attached to her.

"Should I follow them, Boss?" Dom asked. He was also worried about their friend, Jiang Ying Yue.

Iris shook her head. "Let's leave them alone. Eldest Brother Yehan is with her. He'll keep her safe even from herself."

"Got it, Boss," Dom replied.

Everyone dispersed. The new parents took their own set of twins back from the nursery to their own bedrooms for the night.

In the master bedroom, Iris and Jin Liwei put Little Mochi and Little Matcha to sleep in their crib. Ice Cream didn't come with her twin baby brothers this time. The fat, grey cat decided to accompany his twin baby cousins, Little Misha and Little Dima, tonight instead.

"Upset?" Jin Liwei asked.

She was already past the point of being upset with Long Hui. All that was left was pure disappointment. Long Hui wasn't exactly a straight up evil person. If he were, Iris wouldn't have wasted her time getting along with him before all the shit happened.

Back then, he was the one who asked Iris to consider hiring Jiang Ying Yue as a bodyguard. Thanks to him, Iris gained an adorable godson and a good friend. It was such a shame that Long Hui's thoughts became crooked and chose to sacrifice all of them including his own son for the sake of his ambition.

Iris had been somewhat looking forward to Long Hui's public apology after learning that it was part of the judge's final verdict in the defamation case. She wasn't expecting any sincerity from him but she was still curious how he would go on about it.

What she and the others witnessed tonight was a big let-down. As a celebrity herself, she immediately detected that his public apology was professionally staged. She wasn't surprised, only disappointed.

"Say, Liwei, will Long Hui ever regret what he did?" she asked. "Do you think that he'll change for the better someday?"

"No," Jin Liwei didn't hesitate to say. His expression showed strong disgust.

A man who could abandon his own family was the worst trash in the world. This was Jin Liwei's opinion.

Jin Liwei couldn't even imagine doing a similar thing to what Long Hui had done.

Abandon his wife and his children?

Never!

Over his dead body.

His family was his greatest and most precious treasure in the whole wide world. Jin Liwei would sacrifice his own personal ambitions for the sake of his family and not the other way around.

"Don't think about that scum anymore," he told his wife. "Your precious brain cells are better off thinking about something more important than him. He's not worth it."

Iris nodded. "I just feel sorry for our godson. To have a father like that is too unfortunate."

"En, it's indeed unfortunate. But he still has a mother who loves him, not to mention that he has us, his godparents. Both of us treat Little Jun like he's our own son. He also has a lot of aunts and uncles who adore him, his Great-Grandpa Lu who spoils him, and so many other people who will always protect him no matter what. Even a self-centred woman like Wei Lan dotes on him. Little Jun is not a delicate child. I believe that he'll grow into a strong young man who can differentiate between right and wrong. There are so many of us who watch over him. None of us will allow him to grow crooked like his father."

"You're right, darling." She smiled and leaned into her husband's embrace.

Jin Liwei kissed her forehead. They cuddled on the bed while watching their twin babies sleep.

Long Hui's public apology left a bad taste in Iris and the others' mouths, but all of them agreed that he wasn't worth stressing themselves out.

Everyone got up the next day and stopped talking about him. Letting their day become ruined just because of him would only strengthen Long Hui's negative influence over their lives.

Jiang Ying Yue also appeared fine. She refused Jin Liwei's offer to take the day off. He let her be. It might be better for her to preoccupy herself with work and daily training instead of thinking about her scumbag ex.

Lin Yehan came today as well. Even when he wanted to spend time with Jiang Ying Yue as much as possible, he still chose not to disturb her during her shift. He just hung out with Little Jun and Popcorn instead and waited until she finished working.

Iris took a break from composing when her husband picked her up in the music room.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

Jin Liwei took her hand and led her somewhere. "Bacon and Ketchup want to show you the surprise they prepared for their twin baby brothers and cousins."

"Oh?" Her eyes lit up. "It's ready?"
