"If you need anything, don't be shy to contact me," Lin Yehan said with a gentle smile.

Jiang Ying Yue blushed. She only smiled but didn't nod.

He didn't mind. He was already used to her shy and cautious personality.

Feeling a dull vibration in her pocket, Jiang Ying Yue checked her phone. It was a personal reminder that her break time was over.

"Thank you for coming all the way here to update me about the judge's verdict on the defamation lawsuit," she said. "I need to return to my shift."

He sighed but still continued smiling. "Alright. I won't disturb you anymore today. I'm going to see Third Brother after this."

She nodded, still blushing.

"Take care, Miss Ying Yue. Keep in touch."

"Y-yes, you too, Mr. Yehan."

Lin Yehan's gentle smile remained as he watched Jiang Ying Yue leave. Once she was out of sight, he sighed. He only got to talk to her for a few short minutes. He wanted to spend more time with her but she was too dedicated to her job as a member of the property's security team.

Even though Iris and Jin Liwei wouldn't say anything bad about Jiang Ying Yue asking for more days off, Jiang Ying Yue herself refused to take advantage of the couple. She knew that Iris and Jin Liwei's kindness and generosity weren't given because of her own merits alone but because of her son, Little Jun. The couple adored their godson. As Little Jun's mother, Jiang Ying Yue was also able to enjoy the couple's support.

Lin Yehan came to know about all this after becoming friends with Jiang Ying Yue. Throughout the entire process of the defamation lawsuit, he insisted on keeping in constant touch with her. They messaged each other on a regular basis. Only when Jiang Ying Yue became a little more comfortable with him did she accept his phone calls.

He was pleased with the progress they made in their friendship so far. Before this, Jiang Ying Yue was so shy that she only spoke a few words each time. During the defamation lawsuit against her scumbag ex, Lin Yehan's admiration for Jiang Ying Yue grew. He had seen a lot of attractive women in his life and even became lovers with a few of them. Most of his past relationships were based on mutual sexual attraction. This was the first time that he wanted to get close to a woman because of his compassion towards her.

Jiang Ying Yue wasn't the prettiest. A lot of men weren't attracted to a woman who was more ripped and physically stronger than them. Her muscles alone would put many men to shame, including the skinny Lin Yehan. Despite this, he didn't disdain her muscled physique one bit. He admired her even more.

As a former national-level sport shooting athlete, he knew what kind of discipline it took to train in something. His own training focused more on accuracy and hand-eye coordination than on physical build but he could imagine the level of intense training Jiang Ying Yue did on a daily basis in order to achieve that kind of incredible body. She was also a woman so it was harder for her to build muscles compared to men.

Lin Yehan's admiration for her only continued to grow as he got to know her better through their regular communication. He didn't know exactly when his feelings of pity and compassion for her started to change into something more.

Jiang Ying Yue being a single mother wasn't an issue to him at all. He was the boss of his own agricultural businesses and his own life. There was no need to care about other people's opinions about an eligible bachelor like him chasing after a single mother.

However, he knew that the woman he liked was still nursing a broken heart caused by her scumbag ex. He couldn't be careless and rush her into letting him inside her heart. There was also her son. As a mother, she would always prioritize her child. If Lin Yehan wanted her to accept him, then he needed to demonstrate that he would accept and care for Little Jun as if the child was his own.

"Take it slow," Lin Yehan murmured to himself. "One step at a time."

It would be counterproductive if he frightened Jiang Ying Yue with his advances. The woman might be physically strong but she was rather timid, even more timid than his Fifth Brother Lu Zihao's wife, Long Jinjing.

Sighing again, Lin Yehan fished out his phone and called his Third Brother Jin Liwei.

The two sworn brothers met up and decided to take a walk in the indoor forest. Lin Yehan was hoping to see his fifth brother too but Lu Zihao apparently went on a date with Long Jinjing, leaving their twins to the Jin couple and the nannies today. They heard that it was Long Jinjing who took Lu Zihao on a date and not the other way around.

Lin Yehan laughed. "Fifth Brother has changed so much. I was originally worried about him because he became so intense and scary after returning from Canada. But now, I'm no longer worried. He has a wife and his own set of twins. He's now a veritable family man just like you, Third Brother."

"En." Jin Liwei nodded.

The two reached the koi pond.

Then Jin Liwei said, "You came for Jiang Ying Yue here today and not because you want to see me."

It wasn't a question but a statement.

Lin Yehan's gentle smile turned sheepish but still gave an honest reply. "Yeah. I like Jiang Ying Yue, Third Brother."

"En, I can see that."

Silence.

"Third Brother, do you…think that I have a chance with her?" Lin Yehan asked after some time.

Jin Liwei looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

Lin Yehan chuckled, feeling a little embarrassed. Still, he waited for his third brother's reply.

"Jiang Ying Yue is single, you're single. Based on this alone, you have a chance. It's a different matter if she's married but she's not. The question is whether you'll be able to capitalize on your chance and make her return your feelings for her. It's not going to be easy. My wife tells me that Jiang Ying Yue is still very hurt."

Lin Yehan nodded and sighed again. He didn't know how many times he had sighed today. "I know, Third Brother."

Jin Liwei studied him. "I personally don't care if you and Jiang Ying Yue get together. Both of you are adults and should know what's right and wrong. All I ask is for you to be careful of my godson. The child has been through so much because of his despicable father. Xiulan and I don't want Little Jun to experience any more trauma."

"That goes without saying," Lin Yehan replied without hesitation. "Third Brother, you know me. I'm not the type of man to mistreat a child."

"En, I know. I trust you, Eldest Brother. I only want to make it clear that my wife and I love Little Jun like he's our own child. If in the future, you and Jiang Ying Yue really get together, Xiulan and I will have to step in and ensure that you'll treat Little Jun right. I hope you don't disdain me and my wife when that time comes. Little Jun is our godson and we can't help but worry about him."

Lin Yehan patted Jin Liwei's shoulder. "Don't worry, Third Brother. I know."

"Then it's fine."

The two men talked about other topics. Then they headed to the nursery to see the Jin and Lu twins. It was lively because Little Jun and the two cats were also present to accompany their new baby brothers.

Lin Yehan stayed for a while and interacted with the children and cats, especially with Little Jun who he already regarded as his own son.

Iris watched the interaction between the man and child. She didn't think too much about it. Like her husband, she didn't care much if Lin Yehan hooked up with Jiang Ying Yue. It was none of her business anyway.
