(10) Immortality of Virtue

Chapter 58: Resurrection of a Lying Corpse

《Volume 24 of"Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty" contains a poem by Zhang Guolao titled"Inscribed on the True Cave".

The poem says:

The golden bones are repaired and refined to return to their true form, and the traces of the cave lock are not counted in the spring.

The wild grass grows with the green hills, and the idle flowers grow new against the white clouds.

The wind shakes the green Xiaoxiao and knocks the cold jade, and the water stirs up the cinnabar and moves away the plain scales.

Of course, gods have many mutations, and they are willing to hide their traces in the world of mortals.

Zhang Guo has white hair, white beard and white eyebrows. He can be called the Three White Elders. He was riding a gray-white donkey backwards, with a rather large yellow wine gourd hanging around his waist. That donkey is extraordinary. After drinking ginseng soup, it has become a magical donkey. It can travel tens of thousands of miles a day. It can transform into a small paper donkey and hide it in a towel box. Guo Lao's donkey riding cushion is embroidered with blue and white patterns. The bamboo tube of the fishing drum in his hand is as thick as the mouth of a small bowl and no more than three feet long. The two partitions are opened in the middle, and two long bamboo boards for playing the fishing drum are inserted inside. Zhang Guolao wears a jade pendant and brocade belt around his waist, wears a gray and white plain robe, and wears climbing boots.

Zhang Guolao practiced in the"Beiyue Temple" in Hengshan Mountain and practiced the unique skill...

Guolao's special skill is the"Corpse Resurrection Technique", which is"The breath is extremely simple, Jiunaisu."

It is exactly: leaving the dust, riding a donkey backwards, fishing for drums Bamboo slips of Taoist poetry.

Encourage the world not to believe in evil and live on the right path.

Zhang Guo has three interests: she likes singing, eating and drinking, and betting. He played fishing drums for a while and sang Taoist poems for a while, feeling cheerful and comfortable. Folk customs and Taoist songs are unique.

During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, on the Zhaozhou Bridge, Prince Chai made a bet with Zhang Guolao, and three mountains and five mountains were moved on a cart to press the bridge. This bridge was crafted by Luban, with only a groove pressed out. It is said that the Jade Emperor sent yellow scarf warriors to support the bridge, and the bridge was not under pressure. Such a bet was lost to Immortal Master Lu Ban. Legend has it that from then on, Zhang Guolao stopped riding a donkey from the front, and instead rode the donkey backwards to conquer the world.

Zhang Guolao rode his donkey upside down to look at the world, which also meant looking forward and backward. Contains profound theory: Everything is valuable in looking back.

As mentioned before, Zhang Guolao also wrote more than ten classics.

Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty, and Wu Zetian all sent people to invite Zhang Guo, but they all pretended to be dead by his"Lying Corpse Technique". Later, they used"Corpse Resurrection Technique" to restore their true bodies.

In the 23rd year of Emperor Xuanzong's reign of the Tang Dynasty, the emperor heard a report from his subordinates:"Let me tell you that Zhang Guo, who has lived for 143 years, is not dead. He is now strong and strong." The emperor asked:"Oh! Ah, is there really someone with such a long life?" The minister said:"I dare not deceive the emperor. That Zhang Guo claimed that he was a servant of Emperor Yao, and by the early years of the Tang Dynasty, he had lived more than three thousand years."The emperor said:"I don't dare to believe this. It's just that it's rare for people to live seventy years old. He lived to be more than 140 years old, which is more than doubled. Surprise! What an amazing achievement. Hurry up."Pan, please come and teach me." The minister knelt down and accepted the order.

This minister is none other than Pei Yu. He asked around and searched everywhere, and finally found Zhang Guolao in the Zhongtiao Mountains southeast of Yongji City, Shanxi. Pei met that Guo Lao had lost a lot of his teeth, his hair was all white, and his whole body was in tatters. He didn't have the fairy-like appearance in the legend. He looked down on Zhang Guo and showed a lot of arrogance.

Zhang Guo looked at Pei Mo's face and color, and then he knew Pei Mo's heart very well. Guo Lao immediately appeared to be dead, paralyzed, swaying around, as if he couldn't hold himself up, like a dying person. Pei Mo explained his intention, but Guo Lao refused. Pei Mo was anxious. He was afraid that if he couldn't invite him, the emperor would punish him, so he shouted sharply:"Zhang Guo! Straighten up! If you can't invite him, the emperor will blame him and ask Wei Chen to die. Wei Chen dare not not die." He was saying. At this point, Zhang Guolao closed his eyes and died.
