264 Moving Forward (2)
"Alright. It's time to get going." Jake said as he looked up in the sky.
The two suns, one purple, another bright orange, were both diagonal. The day was slowly ending, and Jake wanted to get a few things done before the whole army would call it quits.
At the end of the day, Jake and the others already made plans to make camp and rest for a few hours. But Jake wanted to at least move closer to the next stop.
"I have a feeling that we are closer to the end than we might think." Myriad Arrows commented as he glanced at Jake.
"Yeah. We might have a few more waves of monsters to deal with, but in one or two days, we should finish this part of the expedition." Jake nodded.
"If it was just going to take one or two days, then why the hell did we wait so long? We could have tried to finish this expedition a long time ago." Myriad Arrows growled.
"You too? Fine. Let us say we didn't wait. Let us say we only had half the tier two experts we had right now, and we faced the same army. The casualties that we would have had wouldn't be double what we had right now."
"It would be four times, maybe more. And we would not have sent the zombies packing. The exact opposite would have happened. The zombies would have made us run like little girls." Jake said, shaking his head.
"What is the difference between the other guilds and us? We waited and gathered our strengths. We now have more tier two players than anyone. And as everyone else starts to understand the importance of getting to the second tier, we already knew it, and we worked toward that." Jake said.
"Alright, alright. Let us just start moving." Myriad Arrows sighed.
"There really is no winning a fight with you, is there? So stingy." Myriad Arrows shook his head.
Jake raised his hand and glanced at Phoenix, nodding at her.
She wasn't too far away from him, and she also rose her hand.
One by one, the other two guild masters also rose their hands, and now, all four guild masters were ready.
"Alright then. Make sure no one strays. The path that we are going to take is going to be a little weird and hard to navigate." Jake told Myriad Arrows.
"I already told you so many times, this is not a good idea. We should try to come through the same path that the army took. Straight and then the right. Why would you want to cut across the forest? That is just stupid." Myriad Arrows said.
"We will retain higher ground. How is it that an archer actually wants to take the lower ground?" Jake shook his head and sighed.
"This might slow us down slightly, but having the cover of trees, and the higher ground is way too important. We need to be able to separate the zombies if they attack us. Trees will let us have isolation." Jake explained.
"Alright! We start moving!" Jake shouted without waiting for Myriad Arrows to even respond to that.
He then turned right, slowly walking toward the forest.
The army was already ready for this, and they quickly followed after their guild master.
Now, there was a completely different formation. Everyone was following Jake. One guild after the other. And Jake had no qualms with being the frontline. In fact, this was what he wanted.
The experience that the zombies gave was too precious. Just this much fighting, and he was already watching his experience bar fill up slowly. Perhaps at the end of the day, he would end up in the next level as well.
He knew that many within his guild were also leveling up. After this expedition, far more would take the time to ascend their tier as well.
The moment he passed by the first tree, Jake made sure to make it with the sword in his hands.
"In my opinion, we probably will not be in an illusion in this expedition." The silent Kierch spoke up.
"And why is that?" Jake asked, amused.
"Every single one of the monsters that we faced did not have any magical properties. Even the monsters that spat out the pink mist, that was a physical thing. The mist was physical. It wasn't a spell. And as for the army, they had no zombie mages."
"This all points to the fact that they don't have any mages, and no other profession can cast an illusion." Kierch said.
"You are right. But this isn't to save us from the potential illusion." Jake said, shaking his head.
"Then you just want to make sure you are not walking in circles?" Kierch asked.
"No. I just want to make sure we are all together. The one in the end will know we are passing through the right way. We are almost half a mile long as an army. Surely, you don't want the people in the end slowly losing their way?" Jake explained.
"I am wasting too much time explaining things. We need to pick up the pace. The sun is setting." Jake said, shaking his head.
He looked up again.
He knew which one was the eastern continent's sun, and which one was the western continent's one.
With the one on the west slowly setting, he knew that meant that the day was slowly coming to an end.
And the last thing he wanted was to make camp in the forest, where there could be a multitude of enemies.
Kierch was about to say something, but Jake stopped him dead in his tracks.
"Later. Now, I will need all of my faculties to figure out if I am going in the right way. I hope the scouts that I sent forward come back as well." Jake said.
