UNLIMITED SPEED
604 604. WHAT IS COMING?
"Destruction?" Noah asked rather disturbed, access to his feelings fleshed out his reaction, and Cregar seemed content.
"Yes destruction," Cregar responded, and Noah could almost feel her nod.
His eyes wandered a bit as he took in some details of that place even if his mind remained on the topic.
"Who are these people that say I am the destroyer?" He asked after several questions popped up in his head.
"You don't have to heed their words. They lack the full information and have reacted as a result," Cregar waved his question off with another revelation.
"You mean the immortals?"
"Precisely… my children," she revealed and he felt forced to exclaim a bit.
"The Immortals are the children of Cregar?" Noah furrowed his brows even if the dots connected. He understood why the veiled ones could attain power that felt close to Cregar.
"Yes. I understand they have sent their underlings towards you, so I shall repay with what I have. Even if it might not be much," Cregar explained. Her tone had been constant since the beginning of the conversation. Light.
"Will they stop after this? It's gotten pretty annoying having to watch my back for them. I see it as needless deaths."
"I understand. I had seen those battles occur."
"Then why didn't you just stop it? I'm sure the people of your children are important," Noah asked tilting his head slightly.
"Why would I? I had been wanting to see the full capabilities of the being that disappeared for three decades. Your sudden reappearance and new power intrigued me. You have lived up to the expectation," Cregar explained.
"You brought me here because you're satisfied looking at me. I'm sure you are, seeing as your gaze remained on me when I'm outside." Noah clicked his tongue.
"I also apologize for that. But it was necessary. I had to see you, but also make sure you didn't suddenly disappear. There isn't too much time. Had you left again aiming for the next tier it might have been too late when you returned."
"Hmm. Well. You still haven't told me the real reason I'm here. Surely it's not only to tell me how great I am. Before your power, I'm nothing."
"You're right…. I have brought you here for two reasons. One is to warn you that your life will soon be demanded by the administration of Cusk. Second is to explain a bit of what is to come, and why you are significant in this narrative," Cregar explained and Noah felt light surprise fill his head.
"The royals are asking for my head… that's not too surprising, but why?"
"News of your extraordinary power has been told to them. And the said person made you a threat before the eyes of the royal council," Cregar stated.
"Hmm…. I guess that would be James?" Noah asked as the corner of his lips curved in a rueful smile.
"Affirmative. He has advertised you as a major threat," she announced.
"Old serpents are never to be trusted." Noah sighed even if his eyes grew dark.
"I'm guessing that's why they asked for help… damn. All the higher-stage experts will be fighting against me," his thoughts lead him to a difficult realization.
"Yes…"
"And you tell me this because you believe I have some way to escape the predicament?" An eyebrow rose on his face.
"Yes…. But I can suggest staying with me till-" Cregar was cut short.
"Absolutely not!" Noah retorted even before she could finish. He heaved a sigh and sat cross-legged on the ground before holding his ankles.
"I'd like to deal with this myself. No hiding for me. Thank you for the info anyways. I would have been caught by surprise if not for you," Noah nodded revealing a wide smile.
His words seemed to stun Cregar. And the truth wouldn't be too far from that. Who in their right mind would reject help from the world? The entire planet. She could bury Cusk if she willed. Or cripple it.
"I understand, heir of the god of speed. I await what you'll reveal three days from now," she said.
"Eh. Three days!…" He exclaimed, before sighing and clicking his tongue. "It changes nothing though. I'll be ready by then."
"Now unto the next thing?" He tilted his head to the side.
"Yes…" Cregar paused. "I'm afraid the world has very little time to continue existing, for something Is coming and opposite to what they think the prophecy says you're the one who mounts the stage of destiny."
Noah frowned deeply and his lips parted to release words.
"What is coming?"
"Destruction. That is all I can say for now. Laws bind me from revealing everything to you. You're not in the scope of power to affect what is to come so you'll have to advance in rank," Cregar explained, sounding rather disappointed.
Noah burst into laughter at her words, even if he stopped not too long to give a melancholic smile.
The system had similar rules, and he had needed to wait and grow until knowledge could be revealed to him.
"That's also not too surprising. I only wonder what binds a world… the universe?" he wondered out loud even if Cregar remained silent.
"What am I to do concerning this destruction that would befall you?… seeing as your the world."
"I have called you here to ask you that. But I understood you would not have an answer prepared, so I summoned you here to establish contact. These meetings will become often as long as you walk the face of Cregar," She explained.
"Nah… I have an answer. It's the panacea… simply more power." Noah stood, honestly hungry for more information.
He wished she had not called him only to tell him he could not hear the rest of the details.
"That truly is a universal remedy," Cregar commented.
"Still… why do you think I'll help fulfill whatever prophecy was spoken. I have my own battles to fight. I could just leave this place when I attain more power," his features went cold as he directly stared at the pink sphere.
He could swear he locked gazes with Cregar. His humanity trembled.
"That also is a possibility. But you do not know any place that could fit you apart from here. If I died before you reached the appropriate tier you'll also die due to lack of a habitat," she explained.
"I have places I can go," Noah revealed even if only his cultivation room could fit that description.
"Then go there. I see no reason in staying on this planet if there really is a place you can go. Besides, I sensed a mighty item buried within your soul. It's the reason you manage to escape my awareness."
Noah remained silent. He had already seen that outcome. Yet he played along anyway.
"Thank you for telling me the plans of the royals. As for your prophesy... well I won't make any promises," he revealed
"Besides I don't possess adequate information to find your announcement for destruction important."
"About that… I can't tell you anything due to the laws that bind me. But I never said the same about others who possess similar knowledge," Cregar revealed, and Noah felt taken aback.
Almost instantly; understanding dawned on him, and he saw a way around the issue.
