Undying Warlord

668 Demi God

In the seemingly endless expanse of the eternal darkness a bright shining light could be seen. It was a flame.

The flame flickered brightly and was filled with overflowing vigor, almost as if it would never cease to burn.

The flame swirled strongly, forming a fiercely burning ball of flames.

Time passed and the ball of fire expanded. The flames burning around the ball of fire were getting stronger and the ball of fire filled the expanse of the eternal darkness.

It continued to grow for what felt like an eternity, the temperature in the surrounding area increased and it felt like the eternal darkness was about to be purified.

However, that never actually happened.

Nobody knew how much time passed before the humongous ball of fire stopped growing but the monstrous existence was incomparable to the existence it had been before, the tiny head-sized ball of fire that had been sealed and imprisoned.

But now it was free, finally released from the shackles that bound it for thousands of years.

That was, at least, supposed to be the case if there wouldn't have been a problem.

The problem was nothing big, just the size of a molecule in comparison to the vastness of the burning star…however, that problem didn't seem to disappear, not matter how often it was burned to death.

The problem was a human…a mortal at that, and its name was Dilan Cier, the Undying…and the future devourer of the Sun!

Ignoring his physical body, Dilan had already exerted Astral Projection. His soul was not unaffected by the unleashed Power of the Sun, but it didn't disperse, and that was exactly what Dilan wanted to make use of.

Dilan's Essence Crystal was linked to his Soul after he bound the Soul Subspace passive ability to it. Through this, it was possible for Dilan to store Essence inside his Soul.

He could exert the Perfect Essence Cultivation technique while being a mere Astral Projection as well, after all, the technique of the Great Wise was perfect!

Dilan exerted the Perfect Essence Cultivation technique to absorb the vast Power of the Sun, including both the Sun Essence and the Essence it harbored inside its body.

At the same time, Dilan didn't hesitate to devour the Sun's Mana as well. He used it to support the True Undying Essence by supplying his Origin ability with every bit of mana he absorbed.

In this way, Dilan was able to slowly recreate his physical body while accumulating more and more Essence and Sun Essence inside his Essence Crystal.

His resistance to the Power of the Sun increased drastically the more he absorbed its Essence. This made it easier to create his body, terminate the use of the Astral Projection, and focus his full attention on the practice of the Perfect Essence Cultivation technique.

Of course, Dilan kept dying, over and over again. He was not sure how much time passed, let alone how long he would have to stay inside the Gate Prison.

However, what Dilan was fully aware of was the fact that his strength increased drastically.

With every death he overcame, his physique became stronger. He absorbed so much Essence and Sun Essence before dying that he was able to carve small cracks in the hurdle that obstructed his advancement to the fifth Tier.

This resulted in a minuscule reinforcement in his physical strength and the opportunity to live longer in the proximity of the blazing sun. It might only be a quarter of a second longer than he could survive but Dilan made great use of this quarter of a second.

Every death allowed him to live a little bit longer, and he was able to carve more cracks in the hurdles that obstructed his path.

At first, he survived only for a millisecond before he died, after hundreds of deaths, he could already survive in the blazing sun for a second.

Once he died thousands of times, it was no problem for him to endure the blazing Power of the Sun for several minutes.

The cracks in the Essence Crystal were apparent and Dilan required only one small push before he advanced to the fifth Tier. This small push was delivered by the Sun itself as a magma inferno swept over Dilan, killing him instantaneously.

His body perished and repaired itself numerous times in a single second, but the magma inferno didn't disperse. It wreaked havoc with Dilan's body as if the Sun was trying to devour its devourer.

However, that was only possible if the devourer was something, who could be devoured…

Dilan couldn't even die, so how could the Sun devour him?

In the end, Dilan's body had to be reconstructed countless times due to the devastating damage caused by the magma inferno. However, it was those countless times his body had to reconstruct that the last threshold of the Essence Crystal had been destroyed!

He was promoted to the fifth Tier and his Essence Crystal began to adapt…a tiny, yet familiar flame ignited within it.

The translucent Divine Essence Crystal began to shine lightly as the fiery red flame flickered brightly.

It appeared seemingly out of nowhere, yet, its existence was precisely what Dilan had waited for.

He made a gamble and it worked out even better than he could have hoped for.

Dilan learned various things in the City of Trials. His knowledge was incomparably vast for a mortal. In fact, even some Gods were likely to envy him for his knowledge.

However, applying this knowledge was certainly not easy, and he could only piece the puzzle on how to perfectly exploit the existence of the sealed Sun by fusing the teachings of the Great Wise and the Fallen Celestial.

Using the Perfect Essence Cultivation technique he absorbed the Sun Essence inside his body. He merged it not only with his body but also with the Divine Essence Crystal. At the same time, he altered the Sun Essence that entered his body using the Ring of Infinite Elements Constitution.

What came into existence was a forcefully initiated mutation of the Divine Essence Crystal…and all of that just because the Sun had been in the belief to be able to devour Dilan with the magma inferno.

Little did it know that Dilan had actually been in need of the power that had accompanied the magma inferno to finalize the mutation of the Divine Essence Crystal!

The tiny but vigorously flickering flame was born from this existence. It could be considered a fragment of the Sun or a remnant of the Power of the Sun…or it could be considered a sun-devouring flame.

In the end, it didn't matter what name he would give the flame that had been born inside his Divine Essence Crystal because it was the tool he needed to devour the sun, nothing else!

And now he was finally ready to devour the Sun, and make it his!
