Undying Warlord
562 Two Fate Changers
"Long time no see…" The Oracle greeted shyly. She even blushed, which caused Dilan to feel something creep up his throat.
'What a hypocrite!'
Shaking his head at the sight of the Oracle's unbelievable behavior, Dilan decided to switch his attention to the striking young man, who had emerged from the pitch-black portal that had opened in the middle of the Colosseum's arena a few seconds ago.
The young man had a great physique that was perfect for both the release of brute force and agile movements. The amount of muscles in his ripped physique was perfect and so was the size of his muscles.
Nial Orin did not needlessly train his muscles and reach a physique that would restrict his agility in exchange for a little bit more strength.
He had long silver hair that was tied back in a man bun. It was the same hairstyle as Dilan with the sole difference that Nial's hair was silkier and much smoother.
The Eternal Darkness was wearing a rather simple set of black combat clothes that highlighted the bits of fairy-like fair skin that were exposed. They were nothing special but they fitted Nial very well.
"It hasn't been that long since we parted ways, little Oracle," Nial responded to the Oracle with a gentle smile on his face. The Eternal Darkness' voice was smooth, charismatic, and somewhat playful.
The mannerisms of the young Eternal Darkness made him wonder whether he was sociable, or if he was just comfortable with the Oracle, whom he had traveled with before.
Listening to her being called Little Oracle was cringeworthy but it was not as if Dilan had anything to do with the business between the Oracle and the Eternal Darkness.
He then stared at Nial's eyes for quite a while before he noticed that the Eternal Darkness turned his head in his direction as well.
Upon looking at his face, the most striking feature of the Eternal Darkness which Dilan noticed were the milky white and lifeless pairs of eyes!
'So he is blind? That's a bit unexpected,' Dilan thought while returning a subtle smile back to Nial Orin.
"You must be the human they call 'the Undying'. It's nice to finally get to know you!" Nial Orin said while moving his right hand to his heart.
Dilan figured that this was his way of greeting, so he repeated the motion while introducing himself properly.
"My Name is Dilan Cier, but you can call me Undying. I am fine with both. Nice meeting you, Nial Orin, the Eternal Darkness!"
Nial Orin's head slowly moved to look at the Oracle and he kept gazing in that direction for a few seconds.
"She spoke way too much about you, this hypocr–..." Dilan nearly cursed out but he regained control of his mouth early enough not to make a big mistake.
A slow blush crept up on the Oracle's face, while the corners of Nial's lips curled upward. Dilan, on the other hand, could only frown.
"Either way, how about you reveal the rules of our fight so that we won't misunderstand anything? It would be annoying if either of us were to make a mistake because we didn't understand the rules properly," Dilan interrupted the sweet time of the two lovebirds with a valid question.
There hadn't really been rules in the previous rounds of the Trial of Power, just restrictions. This would change now, and Dilan wanted to know what exactly was going on to devise a strategy to defeat Nial.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I can do that," The Oracle said, a little bit helplessly. It was at this moment when Dilan noticed something else that he had missed out on earlier.
His gaze flicked to Nial Orin, the young man who was still smiling, but now looking at him with his milky white and lifeless pair of eyes.
'Is he really blind? It seems so…but he uses his mana to figure out how strong I am! This smile…I want to see it crumble…'
Dilan felt the chills looking at Nial and he could tell quite clearly that it would be a big mistake to underestimate the Eternal Darkness.
He wanted to defeat Nial and receive a good evaluation score for the Trial of Power to get the strongest True Destruction trait.
While both opponents were assessing each other,, the Oracle attracted the attention of the two Fate Changers by clearing her throat.
"To put it simply, your missions are exactly the same. To unseal the second Godly Seal, Nial Orin has to defeat Dilan Cier or survive for the next 100 Days. Meanwhile, Dilan Cier has to defeat Nial Orin or survive for the next 100 Days to complete his advancement to the fourth Tier and to receive the evaluation of the Universe to determine the degree of your gift.
Nobody will actually die in this place, no matter who it is or what happens, so both of you can go all out without the need to hold back.
As for what happens at the minuscule possibility that one of the Fate Changers fails his mission, it's quite simple as well. You will have to achieve something grand to unseal the second Godly Seal…"
The Oracle took a pause to look in Nial's direction for a moment. Both Fate Changers noticed this and a faint smile appeared on Dilan's face when he saw how hard Nial was trying to keep a straight face.
His earlier poker face and unperturbed expression were slowly crumbling.
'You didn't expect the Oracle to think that you might fail this mission, did you?' Dilan thought in amusement, understanding very well the reason why she said 'minuscule possibility'.
In the Oracle's opinion, Nial was unlikely to fail the mission. However, Dilan couldn't die, even if his soul were to be torn to shreds. It was a fact, even if it might not be a pleasant one for the Eternal Darkness. That simply meant both he and Nial would have to fight for 100 days!
Dilan was quite satisfied, but the Oracle was not done explaining what would happen in the 50th round of the Trial of Power.
"There is not much more to say, except that Dilan Cier won't be able to use any of his learned abilities during the battle. He will only be able to use his Special traits, his Origin ability, and the techniques he learned.
The reason for this is because he spent 10,000 years in the City of Trials, where one year is equivalent to one day in the outside world," The Oracle explained the moment she saw that Nial's smile had finally crumbled.
He seemed a little vexed because Dilan was given so many disadvantages especially after he picked up the subtle hint that the Undying wouldn't be able to fail his mission.
But Dilan understood how Nial felt, very well at that.
So far everyone had told him that the Eternal Darkness was stronger than him, and that he would never be able to fare against the Eternal Darkness.
That might be true in the future, but right now he was given the chance to show that he was not to be taken lightly.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, or so it felt, and Dilan was not going to let it slide.
However, when he looked at Nial Orin's expression, it seemed like the Eternal Darkness felt exactly the same!
