Compared to someone who could be weaving a net against him in secret at any time, Tom had to admit that the prospect of having a stupid and silly girl as his 'boss' was actually quite good.

'Plus, as long as I can gain more trust and start meeting her in private, that little bitch is going to be so fucking easy to control… heh. Those greedy whores who just pamper and praise her for little benefits don't even know how to make good use of things, but that's also good for me!'

Once he had Emilia under his thumb, he would definitely make her submit till she didn't even dare to look up into his eyes, and drain her of every single drop of her blood as long as she was alive!

No, even if she died, he would have her bones ground to a powder that he could then take as a tonic, living disease free and young for decades, no, centuries longer!

So lost was he in his delusions that Tom didn't even realize when Mindy had approached him, and it was only when he felt a burst of excruciating pain from his crotch that he doubled over on the ground with a shocked and pitiful whine.

Mindy grinned. "Oops, sorry, my knee slipped. I'm not used to walking around, I guess. I'll let Cindy take over, but don't worry, I'll come out to keep you company from time to time."

Tom could only whimper pitifully on the ground, cursing at the 'ungrateful bitch' in his heart.

Regardless of his internal thoughts, Mindy had to admit that Tom's efficiency was actually quite 'decent' when it came to accomplishing his 'mission'.

With the narrative of the president having plotted against both the Empress of Blue Dawn and his own soldiers, all the while trying to fool the general public, the loss he suffered in terms of both political and public support was catastrophic, to say the least.

People in general didn't like the idea of their own country going to war, and this was especially so in the Commonwealth of Red Dusk.

With their 'plentiful' experience a few decades ago before their 'outlook' changed, everyone was quite familiar with what happened whenever they tried to 'acquire' a new territory, after all.

Increased prices all around, extremely low job security, and an almost ubiquitous scarcity of various resources. Plus, to top it all off, there was also a constant 'fear' of the 'retaliation' ending up ruining everyone and everything they loved.

The victory at the end of it all was also generally bittersweet, and never did they see any of the promised 'better days' that were usually promised right before the war started. This was why, despite all their ambitions, no one leading the government of Red Dusk had been brave enough to openly start a major conflict for the past few decades.

And thus, as everyone expected, too many people from both the opposition and his own party withdrew their support in a short period of time, and the president… lost his position.

Not only that, he was even charged with several high-profile crimes, including treason, and taken into custody shortly after. But not many people paid attention to that.

Everyone's sight was focused on who would be the one to fill the now empty seat.

While many argued in favor of the vice-president, more still insisted that he was just another crony of the 'manipulative traitor', making the decision makers nervous at the thought of all the riots and unrest that could follow with just a single wrong step.

After much internal debate, it was decided that there was no choice, re-election was their safest and perhaps the only way out of this mess.

Unsurprisingly, the party of the old president lost miserably when the results came out, no matter how they had denounced the 'horrible decisions' that the man had previously made, and Tom was finally able to celebrate.

He collapsed back on his chair with a huge grin on his face. "Ahahaha… All that hard work finally paid off!"

With his 'friend' now the new president of Red Dusk, there was no way that he wouldn't rush to satisfy the conditions of the neighboring empress.

After all, not only was it something they agreed on before Tom used all his connections and manipulated the narrative to support the man for the position, but it would also improve his 'position' in the hearts of people both within the Commonwealth and internationally!

Cindy looked at the man laughing so boisterously, and meekly turned back to jot down a few more notes on her tablet. 'The mental condition of Mr. Tom continues to deteriorate, but everything else seems to go as the Arbiter expected.'

Before clicking send, she shyly added the signature 'With Love, Cindy' at the end, before meekly correcting it to 'Sincerely'.

Hitting send, the ash-blonde finally leaned back with a sigh. 'The goddess is too far out of my reach, and the angel is also high up in the sky… how can someone born in the mud like me deserve to stain them?'

Listening to her sister's thoughts, Mindy smiled. 'Don't worry, sister… you may not be able to fly, but I believe that one day, you will shine!'

Since even their 'Goddess' believed in them already, they couldn't possibly waste her good intentions and disappoint her, could they?

The first order of business in the new president's office was naturally to contact the one who was arguably the root cause of his predecessor losing everything, though it wasn't really her fault. That was why both the president and his team had already 'adjusted' their attitudes properly before making the call the more sure they didn't say anything strange.

Of course, although their meeting was still virtual, even Emilia could tell that this new president's attitude was about as sincere as it could be.

Maybe even a little too sincere.

'I can't help but think there's something strange about this guy... is it the fact that he seems to be shorter than Penny? Oh, his head doesn't look right, either... no wait, it doesn't matter, what am I thinking?' Shaking off the strange feeling, the crimson-haired girl smiled. "Hi, I'm assuming you won't just brush me off like the last guy, and actually plan to make—"

The new president nodded so vigorously that his wig almost flew off of his head several times. "Yes yes yes, we're more than happy to compensate the Empress for all her losses, no, it is our duty, I believe! I cannot believe that there could be someone so deplorable in the world as to make someone like you go through so much distress!"

Emilia coughed. "Uhm, so I—"

The aging man on the screen thumped his fist against his chest, looking both incredibly solemn, yet proud. "Rest assured, I will definitely make sure that the criminals responsible for everything get punished severely! I cannot even begin to imagine how disappointed and shocked you must have been to go through such a thing, truly, my heart aches!"

He sniffed. "My own daughter is about the same age, let me tell you, just imagining how she would feel if she were to go through something even half as—"

A meek 'the president has a daughter?' came from his side, but was quickly silenced with an indignant squawk, followed by a loud thump off-screen.

Emilia couldn't help but feel like she was about to have a headache. 'I... I can't believe there is something even worse than dealing with that stubborn old president they had before...'
