The Vampire's Love: You Are My Destiny

Chapter 305 - Cross The Bridge

Nathan was practicing walking in the hallway of the basement accompanied by his overjoyed mother, Sylvia. He was holding two makeshift walking sticks with his two hands and already making a progress in just three days.

"Son, I think after one week, you can finally walk on your two feet without the aid of the walking stick," Sylvia said excitedly.

Nathan grinned. "I hope so, Mother," he said, his voice filled with optimism.

"Do you want to eat fried chicken again for lunch?" Sylvia asked. "I will inform the cook to prepare them for you," she offered.

Nathan shook his head. "No more fried chicken for today, Mother!"

"How about another dish? Hmm... roasted pork... pork belly... roasted above the fire? Do you like to eat that kind of dish?" she suggested.

Nathan grinned. "That sounds better, Mom. Tell the cook to make it spicy," he said.

"Sure! Anything else you want to eat today?" she asked.

"Um... do you have fruits, Mother? I'm kind of craving human fruits right now," Nathan said.

"We have ripe mangoes in the kitchen. The mango trees in our backyard have already bear fruits for the last five years, and they produce sweet mangoes year after year. I remember that mango is one of your favorite human fruit when you were still young," Sylvia said.

"Yeah! I would love to eat ripe mangoes today, Mother!" he said enthusiastically.

"Okay. I'll go to the kitchen and prepare some for you," Sylvia said and walked away, going to the staircase that will lead her back to the house.

When his mother was already gone, Nathan looked at the room next to his. He walked towards it. Two new women servants were guarding the door. "What's inside this room?" he asked curiously.

"It's your great-grandfather's reincarnation, my lord!" one of the servants replied.

Nathan's brow's furrowed in confusion. "Huh? What do you mean?"

"Yes, you heard it right, my lord," the servant spoke.

"Really-? Can I see my grandfather? Why he's not getting out of this room? Why did he keep staying inside this room? I haven't seen him before," Nathan said.

"Because he's not awake, yet, my lord," the servant replied.

"Y-you mean, he's sleeping all this time?" Nathan asked.

"Yes, my lord," the servant answered.

"Alright, open the door. I want to see my grandfather!" he ordered.

The servants opened the door wide upon their young master's order.

Nathan entered the room and went to bed. He stared at the body lying unconscious on the bed. "Wake up! Grandpa, is this you? Wake up!" he said, nudging the guy's arm to wake him up.

Still, the guy shows no movement at all.

A few minutes later.

Sylvia entered the room. "Son, what are you doing here?" she asked.

Nathan looked at his mother. "Why this guy is not waking up? Is he the reincarnation of our great-grandfather?" he asked curiously.

Sylvia sighed. "You remember the castle in the forest, that is our home before we migrated here. The castle was burnt down a few days ago. The only thing that survives unscathed by the fire is the secret room. That is where your grandfather's corpse was being kept, lying inside the coffin for centuries. When your father and I visited the ruins of the castle a few days ago, we found this guy inside the coffin of your grandfather. So, we brought him here to our house, waiting for him to regain his consciousness so that we can ask him if he is our great grandfather's reincarnation," she explained.

"Ah, I see..." Nathan murmured.

"Surprisingly, you awakened first before him," Sylvia said. "When you suddenly died at such a young age. A vision come to me, informing me that great-grandfather King Rhazien will return in the present times, and he will use your body as a vessel for his comeback. Your body didn't rot, and we feed you virgin women's blood through the years. We took that as a sign that grandfather will surely return one day and inhibit your body. It turns out that you awakened on your own, and we don't know for sure if this body here is grandfather's reincarnation or just a random stranger that was trapped accidentally in the coffin. Everything is confusing as of this moment. Once this guy woke up, all my questions will finally have an answer..." she elaborated.

Nathan stared at the face of the guy sleeping on the bed for a few minutes. Then he turned around. "Where is my mango fruit, Mother?" he asked.

"It's in the table of your room," Sylvia replied.

"Okay, let's return to my room. My mouth is already salivating for that sweet mangoes," Nathan said.

They left the room and went back to Nathan's room.

Nathan's face brightens up after seeing the platter filled with slices of sweet-looking ripe mangoes. "This is nice... my favorite fruit!" he said and went to the table and lowered himself on the chair. He began eating the sweet-tasting ripe mangoes with gusto.

Sylvia smiled brightly, looking pleased with her son. When he was still a child, he would point his fingers at the ripe mangoes hanging in the branches outside the castle. The mango is the first human fruit that he loves eating during that time.

Nathan looked at his mother and gave her one slice. "Join me in eating the mangoes, Mother!" he said jovially.

Sylvia accepted the mango and began eating it. After she finished eating one slice, her son give her another slice. She finished eating a total of five slices of mangoes until nothing was left in the platter.

Nathan grinned. "The mangoes are sweet-tasting, right, Mother?" he spoke.

"Yes, indeed! Do you want more mangoes to eat? There's one basket of ripe mangoes in the kitchen, the servants harvested them yesterday, and there's more up in the branches of the mango trees at the back of the house," Sylvia said.

"Fantastic!" Nathan smiled happily. "More mangoes to eat!"

"Shall I order the servant to get more mangoes from the kitchen?" she asked.

Nathan shook his head. "No need. My stomach is already full. Maybe later in the evening," he replied.

"Alright, do you still want to practice walking in the hallway outside your room?" Sylvia asked.

"Later, Mother. I feel sleepy after eating the mangoes. I will take a rest first, then continue my practice later in the evening," Nathan said.

"Okay, I'll take my leave now. I'm preparing a feast for us tonight in the house. A happy celebration for your awakening!" Sylvia smiled lovingly at her son.

"That's nice, Mother! I'm looking forward to attending the dinner party that you prepared tonight for my honor!" Nathan said, his eyes shimmering with excitement.

"It's just us, your brother, your father, and our men, as well the servants who will celebrate the feast with us, no other visitors from the outside," Sylvia explained.

"I see... that's even better! Just an intimate dinner party between our family and the people who serve us. I love that, Mother! A happy celebration for our reunion," he said.

"Alright, I'll take my leave now. Rest well, son," Sylvia said and left the room.

Nathan walked towards the bed and lay his body down. He looked at the wall that separates the other room, the room where the unconscious guy was located.

After shaking his head a few times, he closed his eyes to sleep.

Sylvia was in the kitchen talking to the cook, examining the dishes that were being prepared for the dinner feast tonight. The menu was composed of several human dishes that she loves eating.

She and her family, including the men and the servants love to eat the liver and heart of the chicken and pork, cooked stewed style, using the animals' blood mixed with spicy herbs. It's her favorite human dish and also everyone's favorite dish.

Satisfied with the ongoing preparations in the kitchen, she left the area and went upstairs to find her husband and Corbin.

She found the men having a serious conversation on the balcony located on the second floor. She joined them on the couch. "What are you discussing here, guys?" she asked.

"We're discussing the unconscious guy in the basement..." replied Zalvo.

"What about him?" Sylvia asked.

"Mother, aren't we going to do anything to wake up that guy?" Corbin inquired.

"It's not been one week yet since we brought him here. After one week, if he won't wake up, I'll start thinking of a way to awaken him. But it will be so much better if he will awaken on his own," Sylvia responded.

"By the way, how is Nathan?" asked Zalvo.

"He practiced walking in the hallway of the basement earlier. Then we eat sweet mangoes together in his room. Right now, he's resting..." Sylvia answered.

"Good!" Zalvo said. "I have this question in my head. What if the unconscious guy finally awakened and claimed that he is not our grandfather's reincarnation. What are we going to do to him?"

Silence engulfed them as they looked at each other, pondering about the question.

"Let's cross the bridge when we got there. What I'm trying to say is that we will know what to do after he wakes up. Our decision will depend on what he's going to tell us," Sylvia said.

Zalvo nods his head. "I agree with your decision, wife," he said.

Corbin gave his mother a thumb up. "We have the same decision, Mother!"

"Alright, let's talk about Laura. Until now we still can't find her! It's getting frustrating!" she said irritably.

Zalvo rubbed her back. "Don't be annoyed. Sooner or later, she will surely fall into our hands. She can't hide forever. One day she will leave her hiding place, and we will find her!" he said confidently.

Sylvia looked at her son. "And you-? No news about Rebecca yet?"

Corbin sighed heavily and shook his head. "Sad to say, I have no lead of her whereabouts yet. But I won't give up on finding her! Sooner or later, I will find her!" he said in a determined voice.

The family discussed the ruined castle, who's responsible for it, and Nathan's unexpected awakening.

Hours went by.

During the evening.

Sylvia's family, along with their men and trusted servants, all gathered in the banquet hall to eat the sumptuous feast especially prepared for that night to celebrate Nathan's awakening.

Nathan enjoyed the celebration with his family.

Meanwhile...

Beneath the house, in the basement. Inside the room where the unconscious guy was located.

His fingers began to move a little bit, then went still.
