The Urban Dao Child

While Yang Dao and Dao Yin were sitting with each other going through changes in their bodies, completing the set of great dao sutra, they both understood the significance of balance and things that disrupt the balance.

If there was Dao, then there must be the void as well, otherwise, both the things will lose their significance. It was an endless struggle to maintain the balance between these two things. If even one was to get out of control, then the other will destroy the world.

Yes, the great dao that created everything will eventually destroy everything as well. If it was not controlled. The void was their to control the great dao.

The two young people opened their eyes and despite stepping up to the realm of true immortal they had no joy in their eyes. Instead, their faces were solemn. They were the Dao Child Of Heaven and Dao Child Of Hell. They could tell that what they had just learned was not a lie or a figment of their imagination.

Yang Dao asked, "What do you think? Is it possible?"

Dao Yin nodded and said, "It is possible for us to lose control, and rather than restoring the balance, we might end up disrupting it."

"What shall be done now?" asked the young boy.

Dao Yin looked in his eyes and said, "You are asking the impulsive one about how to control it?"

Yang Dao smiled then after thinking for a bit he said, "I think it is possible. We both restrain each other. We can keep things under control."

Dao Yin thought and nodded. However, they both were not very convinced by this all. They kept on thinking and discussing things with each other but they did not get any results. In the end, they gave up and moved outside the cottage.

They had decided to go and seek guidance from the senior, Laohu Bai.

Laohu Bai sat in a pavilion made up of white and green jade when the two were led over by Zen. Nobody could approach the chief instructor until the chief caretaker has approved of them. Yang Dao and Dao Yin bowed to her and the lady with silver hair said, "Have a seat."

Yang Dao and Dao Yin sat down on the cold floor of the pavilion without any fuss. Laohu Bai asked, "What happened?"

Dao Yin looked at Yang Dao who nodded and said, "Big sister, we have a question."

The white tiger nodded and Yang Dao continued, "If the great dao controls everything, then what controls the great dao? What if someday the great dao lost control and things went south?"

Laohu Bai nodded and said, "This is a very good question. Let me think, what is the great dao? It is the way of life, everything from moping the floor to sleeping can lead you to the great dao. However, even if you do the most mundane thing, you must do it with dedication, and sincerity, you must understand the essence of this thing.

Once you understand the essence of the things you become one with the great dao. You are the great dao and the great dao is you. When you understand this, you will be able to control it."

Yang Dao and Dao Yin did not say anything but sat there on the floor like statues. They began to contemplate what Laohu Bai had just told them. Laohu Bai cast a gaze to Lady Zen, who nodded and took out a tea set from her space ring.

The lady knelt on the floor and made some tea for three people, and then served it. Laohu Bai said, "Look at the tea inside the cup."

The two children dropped their gaze to look at the cup. Laohu Bai asked, "Can you control this tea's nature?"

Yang Dao and Dao Yin thought and shook their heads. Laohu Bai said, "You can control the element of this tea, which is water. But you cannot control the nature of it. Drink it."

The couple followed and then drank the tea in the cup. Laohu Bai said, "Now, that tea has become one with you. Its soothing nature has become a part of you and so is the heat. Can you control the nature of the tea now?"

Yang Dao and Dao Yin nodded and the two people bowed to the lady. Laohu Bai shook her head and with the wave of her hand she raised them up. She has just told them, that they cannot control something that was not a part of them. However, if they could make things become one with themselves, they will be able to control the nature of it as they control themselves.

What was it that they wished to control? The nature and balance of the Great Dao. So how will they do it? By assimilating the Great Dao with themselves.

Laohu Bai said, "Now, I want to ask you. Do you two understand the path of immortal cultivation?"

After stepping into the realm of a true immortal, spirit cultivation evolves into immortal cultivation. The children nodded their heads, and Laohu Bai said, "Tell me."

Yang Dao replied, "The essence of immortal cultivation is to refine the body first. This refinement is not as simple as the one we did back at the beginning of spiritual cultivation. Every tissue of the body must be refined. It must not be cleansed by the spiritual energy, but it should become one with spiritual energy.

The process must be performed on everything, from bones to muscle and from blood to viscera."

Laohu Bai nodded and Dao Yin spoke up, "The second phrase of immortal cultivation is to refine the immortal core and true immortal soul. This needs to perform the same process as our bodies with our golden core and primordial soul infant."

Laohu Bai nodded and said, "To think that you can figure it out in just a few hours. Very good, since you have achieved the first level of the true immortal cultivation. I want you two to go out and experience a few things."

She waved her hand and a scroll was passed to the two children. She said, "Your task here is to live like a mortal for a month. You cannot use your spiritual essence. The village is located in the center of the mountains. You cannot use your elemental powers too. Go there to help the people and after a week, you can come back here."

Yang Dao and Dao Yin were shocked, the boy asked, "Big sister Bai, do we not have to fight the Daemons? Why are you sending us to a mortal village and why can we not use our skills."

Laohu Bai smiled and said, "All in good time. Now off you go."

The chief instructor has spoken, even if she was nice, she was still their teacher, so they bowed and stood up to leave. The two did not have any luggage with them, Lady Zen led them to another separate hall, where an old man was sitting in front of a teleportation array.

Lady Zen took out something from her space ring and gave it to the two with a smile on her face, she said, "You can use this to travel. The village will be away from the place you will appear. Another thing is, keep some spirit stones on your person to use this."

The two people nodded and they accepted the jade boat given to them by Lady Zen. Then the lady turned to the old man and said, "Elder Man, please send them to the Village in the Valley."

The old man nodded and with a wave of his hand the teleportation array came to life. The two people held hands and walked over the teleportation array. They vanished from the holy land and the next moment, they appeared in someplace filled with lush green grass and a clear blue sky.

Dao Yin looked around and sensed nothing out of the ordinary. Yang Dao said, "Use that boat to find the village?"

Dao Yin nodded and took out the boat, then she placed a spirit stone on top of the jade boat. Soon the whole thing changed into a vehicle big enough to carry the two of them. They sat in the boat and it flew through the skies.

Yang Dao leaned his head outside the boat and asked, "What do you think about this village?"

"I do not know what to think, Yang. I am very confused, I do not like this feeling?" said Dao Yin with a pursed mouth.

Yang Dao nodded and said, "Me neither, but this is what Big Sister Bai asked us to do. Maybe we will learn how mortals live and then appreciate our powers more and know how to use them for the greater good?"

Dao Yin nodded and said, "What you said is correct, but what about the ban on using them? What is some trouble came, how will we handle them?" she made a quick movement and threw herself in Yang Dao's chest in distress.

The boat shook, and Yang Dao said, "I understand now."

Dao Yin raised her head and asked, "What do you understand?"

Yang Dao said, "Mortals balance immortals, so to understand the balance, we must become mortals. After all, we all were mortals when we were born."

Dao Yin realized and said, "Yes, this is plausible. Yang, you are so smart."

Yang Dao hugged her tight and said, "Because I have you, Yin."

To balance out the cringe, four ladies were imitating them and joking about it somewhere in the heavenly dao palace.
