The Hidden Wife Of The Cold CEO

202 A call from Li Huan during dinner with Fu Hua

Li Huan was quiet and let his mother do the talking. The truth is that there was nothing else anyone can do about the situation. He was already depressed thinking about it.

"Li Huan, can you hear me?" Mrs. Li asked after not hearing any response from him.

"Mum, there is nothing we can do about it. The Fu family is not a family to be trifled with. They are far above our reach." Li Huan said tiredly.

"Does it mean we have to let Jia Li suffer in that family? I can't believe this. I'm sure they are not treating Jia Li well. For such a wealthy family to force that poor child to marry one of their sons, then there must be something fishy. One of their sons likely has an incurable disease or it's handicapped, so they forced Jia Li to get married to him." Mrs. Li said.

The more worried she was, the more her imagination ran wild.

Mrs. Li thought that the Fu family which is so wealthy and powerful can not allow an ordinary person to get married into their family. That is, any person getting married into their family must have some background.

For Jia Li to marry into their family, it's either the person she was forced to get married to has physical disabilities or was a spoilt brat.

With all these deductions, Mrs. Li concluded that an elite couldn't marry that kind of son, so Jia Li was forced to get married to him instead.

"Mum, according to the surface investigations I made on the internet, there is no hidden illness being suffered by any member of the Fu family." Li Huan said to her.

He could tell that his mother's imagination was running wild, so he had to explain things a bit more for her.

"What do you know? Those kinds of things can only be known by the members of the Fu family. Do you think they would want to tarnish their image and reputation by baring their dirty linings outside? That is impossible! Li Huan, you have to find a way for me to meet Jia Li." Mrs. Li said in a worried tone.

Li Huan was sick and tired of talking about Jia Li's matter with his mother because his heart was beginning to ache, so he decided to drop the bombshell.

"Mum, forget about Jia Li for now. The Fu family will not do anything to her because she is pregnant with their descendant." Li Huan revealed.

"What?! Jia Li is pregnant?!" Mrs. Li asked in shock.

This was the news that killed the tiniest hope she had about getting Jia Li to be with her son again.

"Mum, let's stop talking about this matter. If you still want me to come back home for dinner, don't bring up this matter again. I have to go now." Li Huan said and ended the call.

Mrs. Li was too late to say anything to him because the call had already ended before she could recover from her shock.

Just like the way her son was hurting after losing Jia Li that was the same way she was hurting.

She couldn't believe the daughter-in-law she has always had her eyes on, already belonged to someone else.

She has always liked Jia Li and had wished for her son to get married to her. Now hearing this news about her, Mrs. Li didn't know what to do anymore.

She wanted to blame her son for not making a move quickly but she couldn't find the right words. She also thought about blaming herself for not meeting Jia Li's parents to talk about the possibility of their children getting married before they died but still, she couldn't blame herself.

There were no words left to console herself with. She could only lay on the sofa as she allowed her thoughts to wander.

Li Huan couldn't be blamed for missing the right opportunity to date Jia Li. When he thought about asking her out, her parents died, and he had to give her 1 year's space to get over her parents' death.

After a year passed, he learned from her that she would be graduating soon and because of his tight work schedule, he thought it wasn't the time to ask her out.

He thought he still had a little time unaware of the fact that things were already too late by the time he wanted to ask her out.

To Li Huan, losing Jia Li was the greatest loss he has ever encountered and he doesn't think he would easily forget her.

When the weekend came, Li Huan went back to his hometown to visit his mother. They didn't bring up Jia Li while eating but they walked about some other things. It was a tacit understanding between them.

Some days later, Jia Li's phone rang while she was having dinner with Fu Hua. On seeing the caller ID, Jia Li's heart raced because Li Huan was the person calling her and Fu Hua was present. She had no idea what to do.

Fu Hua glanced over at her and saw the worried look on her face.

"Who is that?" He asked casually.

Jia Li swiped the red side to end the call before turning her gaze to him.

"It's my friend." She replied and immediately sent a mouthful of food into her mouth.

Fu Hua did not ask anymore. But something struck him when he was about to drink some water from his glass.

He remembered that Jia Li gave him a similar response the last time she met up with her childhood friend, so he glanced back at her and asked with furrowed brows, "What's the name?"

Jia Li felt her heartbeats increase a little. She didn't know what his reaction would be when he finds out about the caller ID.

She didn't want him to be angry and now, she was in a dilemma and didn't know how to reply to him, because she didn't guess that he would ask that question.

When their gazes met, Jia Li became a little scared. She slowly chewed on her food while Fu Hua patiently waited for her response.

Her looks already revealed to Fu Hua that she was guilty.
