The Great Thief
Chapter 1797 - Quest Difficulty

Lu Li’s expression was also very serious. He had seen things that ordinary people couldn’t see, and had also experienced the dreamland.
The difficulty of a quest of this level could only be imagined.
The thing he was most afraid of was Remulous disallowing external help. Then, Lu Li’s plans of entering from the Outland would have completely failed.
“This deer will accompany you on this quest. You must ensure she doesn’t get hurt,” Remulos said. “This quest isn’t testing your capabilities. Remember what I said before and the world that we are protecting.”
Lu Li’s heart skipped a beat – a quest that didn’t test his capabilities?
Other than his capabilities, he had nothing else!
A stream of jade green light engulfed Lu Li and the deer, and then they were sent away.
As he opened his eyes, everything seemed a bit too overly familiar.
The map left many traces of his training, quests and battles. He even had a lofty Stronghold here, and he could its towering shadow as he turned around.
Lu Li, himself, was facing the misty ocean as he stood on the beach.
The rocky cliffs, the sand and the haze of the sea proved that nothing of value could grow on the Black Sea Coast. Clumps of algae, seaweed and rocks covered the beach, with the occasional tree that dotted the land far away from the coast. The climate here was cold and stormy, with wind strong enough to agitate enormous waves. The rain and fog across the year meant that only very skilful sailors could navigate the waters of this treacherous region. In the shallow waters were the shipwrecks that marked the final resting places of many sailors.
The local inhabitants here seemed to only be Murlocs.
In the world of Azeroth, they were often found nearby water. The lived along the shallow coast in simple, small houses and often wielded weapons made of shells. Amongst them, there were also some who could use some basic shaman magic. Murlocs believed in the water elemental leader, Neptulon. In the sea there were also their relatives – the deep sea Murlocs.
Perhaps his quest was to get rid of these Murlocs.
This was probably too simple. Even though these Murlocs were known as ‘newbie killers’, Lu Li was at level 60 and could kill one with every strike.
“Here, here,” the deer began to say.
Lu Li was not surprised. To be an extraordinary deer around Remulos was something ordinary. You never know – she could even be Remulos’ biological daughter.
Remulos and his father, including his grandfather, weren’t picky people. Their bloodline came from all sorts of ethnicities.
Lu Li walked over but didn’t see anything.
“Here, here.”
The deer seemed quite young still, and had limited verbal abilities, so she could only kick her little hooves anxiously.
Lu Li looked carefully at where she had kicked, and tried his best to see if anything stood out.
“Oh! Oh!”
The deer seemed frustrated at Lu Li’s foolishness and used her mouth to bite onto Lu Li’s clothes, dragging him in front of the puddle.
“And then?”
Lu Li was dumbfounded.
The little hooves dabbed in the water and a little fish jumped out from the water’s surface. Then, the deer jumped and yelled around with joy.
“You want to eat fish?”
Lu Li let out a sigh, but he was sure he saw the deer’s look of disdain.
It didn’t make sense to keep lingering on like this. There were already several Murlocs that had come their way asking for trouble. However, they didn’t know how powerful Lu Li was and walked towards their deaths, one after the other.
Even if Lu Li stood there and did nothing, the Murlocs still couldn’t possibly kill him.
Even so, he couldn’t underestimate these Murlocs. These low-level creatures that flooded the whole of Azeroth obviously couldn’t see that the deer was a guardian of the forest. If the deer was hurt, Lu Li couldn’t be certain if Remulos would go ballistic.
Plus, there was still two Bosses in this area – Murkdeep and Flagglemurk the Cruel.
They were considered Greymist Murlocs and both had come from the coastline. They were the old neighbours of the Night Elves on the Black Sea Coast, but they were quite a headache as neighbours. These Murlocs couldn’t be distinguished from one another in appearance or demeanour. In reality, they had caused a lot of trouble on the Black Sea Coast, and were even more than the annoying Naga and Satyr combined. Those who had seen them lead their brothers to go hunt Threshadons would be deeply shocked by this wonderous sight.
In the last month, their exploits included the sinking of two merchant ships and the death of a sentry.
Ruling Sword’s Black Sea Coast Stronghold had dispatched troops to dealt with them twice. Unfortunately, they didn’t drop anything good, and it was annoying to fight against them.
Lu Li caught the fish very quickly. He hesitated for a moment then stuffed it into the deer’s mouth, smiling fondly like a father.
The deer was stunned for a moment, then ran to the edge of the sea and spat out the fish into the water. The little fish wiggled its tail and swam away quickly.
Hence, the deer made a happy yelp.
Lu Li wasn’t an idiot. He quickly understood what the quest wanted him to do.
However, surely this was too ridiculous? He was the outstanding leader of the Ruling Sword club, who was in charge of the lives of over hundreds of thousands of people, yet he was asked to rescue fish?
The morning sun broke through the sea and shrouded the land.
The sun on the coastline was very hot as it baked the reef of the seashore. As such, these puddles also evaporated.
Lu Li picked up these fish from the puddles and threw them into the sea.
One fish, two fish…
They were all washed in when the high tide came in. They had just forgotten how to get home once the tide retreated.
This was a rather fascinating process. At first it was quite funny, then there were more and more fish that were saved. As he felt the jumping sensation of the fish in his hand, Lu Li felt more and more calm.
He no longer felt any sense of embarrassment even if he had been seen by others.
There was no difference in rank in the face of life itself.
There was no difference in ethnicity or interest in the face of life itself.
Life was life. It was as pure as the fish jumping and the feeling of the rising run breaking through clouds.
One little Murloc walked out of the old tent, picked up the little fish in the puddle and showed a smile of fulfilment. There was no right or wrong with natural selection.
Lu Li started to understand the meaning of Remulos’ quest.
He wanted Lu Li to cherish life, to educate him on the equality and simplicity of life, and to have Lu Li understand how small he was and how he was powerless in many things.
