The Great Thief
Chapter 1146 - Snowy

They turned back and ran into some players who were still trying to figure their way out of the maze. Lu Li wasn’t kind enough to help them out.
Everyone had to pay for their own choice.
There were some scouts around the outer circle of the Morfex Castle. These spies wore capes that would make them invisible every now and then. This kind of invisibility was different to the Stealth that Thieves had; there was no way they’d be able to be detected under any circumstances.
There was also a blue eyeball symbol on top of the heads of these scouts.
Water Fairy probably didn’t feel much towards these monsters, but Lu Li hated that symbol. He was a Druid in his previous life and had a stealth ability, but it was much worse than what Thieves had. He hated these monsters with these blue eyeball symbols on top of their heads.
It was the symbol for stealth detection, a signal to run – unless you were capable of killing it after you had been found.
These scouts were level 60, and were semi-boss models. Lu Li and Water Fairy could only run if they were to get caught by them, or else they would attract more scouts. If they were surrounded by more than ten scouts, they wouldn’t be able to make it out.
The biggest obstacle to Fahrad’s quest was these Syndicate Scouts. Of course, this was only because the players weren’t strong enough. If someone else came along, these would be nothing but a joke to them.
After a horrible encounter with a scout, Lu Li quickly thought up a solution.
He found a stack of bad quality copper, the kind that you could only sell to the shops for a few copper coins, and tossed them far away. The Syndicate Scouts would hear the sound and be distracted.
These tactics weren’t useful on usual monsters, or else the gaming world would not work out at all. However, the Syndicate Scouts were different. This was their job, and any movements would attract their attention.
After they broke through the zone of the scouts, there were no more of them in the inner ring.
The Syndicate Sentries were only level 55, which was perfect for Lu Li and Water Fairy. If the monsters were any higher in level, Theft would become difficult, but if they were too low, the quality of the item would decrease and so would the drop rate of the Heavy Rubbish Boxes.
From what Fahrad had said, they had to approach their target carefully from behind and try to avoid being caught within combat range.
This was the guide that had to be followed by Theft beginners.
If they were able to obtain a Night Walker Emblem, this would provide a great boost for their Theft ability. Not only did it increase its success rate, but it also movement speed while in Stealth.
The best part was that this item was useful as long as it was in your bag, so it didn’t take up any equipment slots.
“I’ll take the left, and you take the right. We’ll sap them, steal and kill them,” Lu Li said, then looked at Water Fairy and added, “These monsters are quite strong. If they call for help, they might attract the Scouts, so it’s best to kill them in one round of skills. No problem?”
“Don’t underestimate me,” Watery Fairy muttered as a hint of red from embarrassment and slight anger appeared across her white face.
The two Thieves both entered into Stealth and quickly approached two Syndicate Sentries from behind. With almost the same moves, they Sapped from afar and got closer to steal…
Water Fairy’s face lightened up as a dark green square box appeared in her hands.
Beginner’s luck!
Monsters between level 50 and 60 could only drop Heavy Bin Boxes, which were also only dark green. As such, Lu Li immediately knew that this was a Heavy Bin Box.
On the other hand, he was a little less fortunate. His Theft worked, but he only managed to obtain 2 silver coins.
With Water Fairy smirking on the side, Lu Li helplessly tossed his silver coins into his bag and pounced towards this stingy sentry. He looked the same as the one next to him, and in fact, he was wearing even better clothes. Yet, he didn’t even bother dropping a box.
Monsters that had been stolen from usually didn’t drop anything good, so Lu Li didn’t bother keeping his hopes up.
The second sentry dropped a broken mirror. This was a well-designed mirror, and its use was just that – a simple mirror that reflected the looks of a player. The edge of the mirror was broken, but a few gold coins to the hairdressers in the shops would fix it. After Water Fairy heard the description of this item from Lu Li, she took it off him.
The item was worthless to Lu Li, but it was worth a lot in the hands of females.
Water Fairy also stole some coins from the second sentry. A majority of the time, the loot from theft was coins. The coins would build up and it would still add up to a considerable sum of money. Many Thieves used this method to earn money.
There were many professions that could go broke in Dawn, but Thieves were definitely not one of them.
This was one of the things that Lu Li had in mind in this life when he was picking his profession for the game. No matter how poorly he was playing, he would at least be able to steal off monsters, which was better than nothing.
Lu Li’s first Heavy Bin Box came from his fourth monster. His hands sunk at the weight and the corners of the item told him he had found what he wanted.
“Uhm, did you just steal a Heavy Bin Box?” Lu Li asked.
“Not one. This is my second one now,” Water Fairy said proudly. At least, in the aspect of stealing, Lu Li seemed to be much worse than she was. This wasn’t just considering the Heavy Bin Boxes – even the number of coins too.
“And, what do you mean, uhm?” Water Fairy continued with a frown before Lu Li got the chance to reply. “Do I not have a name?”
“Uhm…then should I call you Water Fairy?” Lu Li asked sheepishly as he opened his mouth.
“Why does my name sound so weird coming out of your mouth.”
Water Fairy felt speechless and uncomfortable. She hesitated before she said again, “How about you call me Snowy? My name in real life is Shen ManXue.”
There were plenty in the game who knew her real name. After all, there were plenty players in real life who weren’t just ordinary people.
However, it was the first time she had told someone her real name herself. She felt her cheeks burn after she said it, uncertain as to whether they were red. She regretted not wearing her mask today, but if she took it out now, it would be too much.
“Snowy,” Lu Li called out softly.
He wasn’t someone who cared about details too much; he felt like names were nothing but just a combination of characters. Perhaps, he felt like only the name Xin Xin was important to him, but at this very moment, he felt that ‘Snowy’ was different from the others.
