Chapter 590: The Quest System!
"The blood drop could get sold for a fortune. Why would the adventurer hand it over to you?" The daughter couldn't help but ask as the adventurer's actions didn't make any sense to her.
There was also a point that the adventurer didn't know the value of the item, but even if he did not, he still saw that a single blood drop had tested the patience of the behemoths and they were now openly rejecting the rule of the lord of the Razor sea.
"This is a mystery to both of us," The man replied. Even he didn't know the reason behind the adventurer's actions.
For not even a moment, the man could believe that the adventurer did this for the quest. If the adventurer hadn't brought the blood of the element, he still would've won a Legendary grade sword and a million XP.
"What if he doesn't know the value of the blood drop and later learns it?" The daughter suddenly asked with worry laced in her voice.
If the adventurer knew the worth of the item and handed it over, they would only get concerned about the reason for which the adventurer took this step. But the situation would be entirely different if the adventurer didn't know the value and later learned it. In that case, the adventurer may tell other beings about this item as even news related to the presence of a Divine grade material would result in the adventurer earning a fortune. If he did so, the man and the daughter would become a target for the world.
A grave expression appeared on the man's face when he thought of the consequences if the question asked by her daughter turned out to be the correct situation.
The next moment, his face returned to normal as the adventurer didn't even show any reaction when he had asked the adventurer about the item in an ambiguous tone. The man was confident that the adventurer knew what the drop of liquid was and had his own reasons for not taking it with him.
"Should I capture him?" The man suddenly asked himself after not being confident enough to forget about the situation of the question her daughter had asked.
"You can't do that," The daughter hurriedly replied.
Everyone living in Panagea knew about the adventurer's ability to revive unlimitedly, so killing them made no sense to others. It would only offend the adventurer to have revenge and would result in terrible situations for the inhabitants of Panagea.
It was the reason the man thought about capturing Aakesh, but his daughter was against that decision and suggested her father not to do that.
For her suggestion, she had a simple reason. The adventurers could leave Panagea anytime as everyone knew they weren't the natives of Panagea, so what if, even when captured, the adventurer had the ability to return to their world. And when they returned to Panagea, they wouldn't be captives anymore.
The father also decided against his thoughts as he also wasn't sure whether the adventurers had that ability or not. He still hadn't heard of a single case of an adventurer getting caught since the last fifty years when they arrived in their world.
If his daughter's guesses turned out to be correct, then he would have an enemy that wouldn't die, and at the same time, he would be in control of a piece of information that would be the death knell for not only him but also his family.
"You're correct. Let's not do that," The man commented after taking back his thoughts.
Fortunately for Aakesh, the man wasn't aware that catching the adventurer was similar to the situation where they captured the inhabitants of Panagea. The adventurer only had the ability to leave Panagea at any time. But whenever they returned, they would appear in the same place as where they were before exiting.
If the adventurers had a territory of their own, they could suicide and appear at their palace, leaving the captivity. It was only the situation where the adventurers could exit their confinement without being powerful enough to escape or the confiner leaving them.
"Since we aren't sure whether the adventurer knows about the blood drop or not, we shouldn't let it depend on the fate. The situation could turn troublesome for us. We should make good relations with the adventurer and offer him some rewards," The man then stated.
The daughter nodded in affirmation as it made sense. If you aren't aware of the other side's strength, it's better to be friends with them rather than be enemies.
"Would you be willing to marry him?" The man suddenly looked at his daughter and asked with a straight face.
The daughter's lips twitched after hearing her father's question, but she soon calmed down and nodded.
"Marrying him is no problem if it can save us from the future trouble," The daughter added.
"It isn't an order but a question. If you don't want to marry the adventurer, you don't have to. Let alone this single drop of the blood of the element, even if there were countless of these in question, I wouldn't force you to do anything," The man gently tapped her daughter's shoulder and stated.
"I know. You don't have to worry about me. It would be my fortune if I married the adventurer, but the question is whether he would marry me or not," The daughter smilingly responded.
The man nodded as he didn't feel that his daughter was acting like a down-to-earth person.
He had seen two or three adventurers over the years, but none of them could compete with the adventurer who had just completed the quest.
The adventurer didn't share pieces of the quest with him except for the details about the item and the conversation the adventurer had heard, but how could he not know how difficult it was to leave the stronghold after stealing a material of such significance.
The adventurer was only a Level 229, and he could only see that when he was Level 300+. His daughter, who was Level 247, couldn't see what Level Aakesh was.
"Let's see then," The man murmured and began thinking of ways to have the adventurer at his house.
Even though the man didn't know the adventurer well, he still knew that the adventurer wouldn't come to meet him if he didn't have anything of value to interest him or had another quest.
"Prepare another quest. This time put the rewards to manual and set it at 10 to the power 230 XPs," The man told his daughter.
The daughter couldn't help but look at her father in surprise as the XPs in the quest came from the personal cultivation of the creator of the mission; it didn't come out of nowhere.
In Panagea, the quest had two systems of setting the reward for its completion.
First was the automatic system. In this situation, the will of the contract would decide the reward for the quest, depending on the difficulties the adventurer/Panagea's inhabitants would face till the end. It was a good system as it was unbiased, and it allowed the quest taker to have fair rewards for his efforts.
The second was the manual system. Here, the creator could set the reward depending on himself. Unless the reward was several folds higher, the quest taker would rarely take the missions out of this system since it was no reward by an omniscient being.
If the adventurer completed the quest, he would gain a Level, and the man was confident that the adventurer wouldn't be able to refuse it.
