The Dawn of the New World

Chapter 831 - The Weave

Multiple wasp-like creatures separated from the swarm and shot towards Jax's head. One of them landed on the nape of his neck and pierced through his skin with its elongated stinger.

It instilled within him a feeling of abject horror and misery that could only be endured and not contested. The only solace he could get was when he delved into his memories in his entirety which were in turn seen by the Demon God.

The memories started playing in front of his eyes like a film and the harder he tried to not think about a certain time or place, the faster that memory came up. It soon stopped on a young man's face that stood against Jax in a forest.

The image was obviously of Hao Xuan and since Tomas had met him in person, Beelzebub was able to recognize him in an instant.

"This...is your hope?" he asked unhurriedly.

Jax was but a mumbling mess. All he could do was repeat what was on his mind without any filter whatsoever.

"He was there even when he wasn't meant to be. He changed our fate and saved so many lives. If it's him... if it's him it can be done," Jax's incoherent mumbling was suddenly imbued with an unknown force as he spun around to stare at the swarm, "He is an aberration, an irregularity that even YOU did not count on! I'm sure he can do it!"

The great Demon God-King had been silenced. He was left speechless simply because he was much more aware of what Jax's words meant than even he himself. Because the ability to peer into the future was given BY him, to begin with, just as they were to all the various hosts.

It was meant to initiate each of the potential hosts into their vile ranks by giving them abilities that specifically went against the Heavenly Mandate and corrupted their hearts, leaving them no choice but to turn to them.

And Jax's ability was perhaps one of the most unique and dangerous one of them all. It allowed him to peek into the 'weave' itself, to grasp the many threads of fate and see what the Heavens had planned for the future, all of the futures. It wasn't something as simple as seeing a future but something much more complex.

He was able to see what fate would befall him or the ones close to him. Albeit he couldn't control what he was seeing right now since he had no idea what it even was.

But that did not diminish the value of his visions one bit. Fate could not be changed. It was the one law that moved the very heavens and controlled all the great Pantheons because the weave was protected by all of the divinity without question.

It was undeniable, indisputable, incontestable, and unquestionable. And yet, the impossible had happened.

Jax had seen the hand of fate, of the disasters that would befall his people. Yet somehow, someway, this one insignificant human had managed to turn the tide to his favor.

Beelzebub could not believe it.

"It is...not possible. One cannot fight against fate. What has already been written cannot be-" he came to an abrupt pause that only lasted a few seconds before he continued and finished the sentence.

"What has already been written cannot be unwritten, unless...No! It cannot be!"

Even this great God-King could not believe what he was seeing. Hao Xuan's image floated in front of the thousands of pupils of the swarm as he muttered incredulously.

"The weave has been tampered with. Someone has changed the past AND the future!"

*Whooosh*

A gust of wind blew in from the north and all the pain and fear that Jax was feeling suddenly vanished. He raised his head to glance around but could not see anyone else. In fact there were no changes to the surroundings at all. All the trees, the critters, and the terrain were still the same as before.

"Another deception..." Jax muttered under his breath monotonously.

He stood up with some effort and started walking back, not realizing that every piece of land he stepped on would become devoid of all life.

Back within the catacombs of the old temple, Hao Xuan's summons had just lain waste to the entire pack of creatures that had surrounded him. (CH 802)

When the light vanished Hao Xuan was gobsmacked by the result. Their strength and more importantly their otherworldly movements and fighting style were nothing like anything he had seen before.

They were actually teleporting around him with every swing, their axes cutting through the air in alternating patterns, turning everything into small bite-sized pieces.

When they finally stopped moving Hao Xuan was the only one left in one piece. All he did was 'think' about what had happened and a psychic connection was forcefully opened between him and the four Orcs, exposing all of their inner thoughts and secrets, laying everything out in the open for him to see.

It felt like a small explosion of extreme yin energy had taken place inside Hao Xuan's head as a coldness spread throughout.
