The Blue Eyes

Chapter 271 - IT'S ALL ABOUT POWERS

"It's all about powers," Felix Smith spoke as he was getting ready with a syringe and a small bottle containing a red formula in his hands.

Felix Smith had said that he would inject the formula into Kris's body three hours ago, but he didn't do anything to Kris until now.

Kris was beyond shocked when he heard Felix's statement earlier, and he was struggling as he tried to free himself from the tight rope. But, to his surprise, nothing happened to him until now.

Felix Smith and Jaden Dunn were still busy with the werewolves in the laboratory, leaving Kris alone on the chair. Kris didn't know what they were planning to do, but he was still on guard in his position.

All the werewolves in the laboratory had been freed from the glass tube. Whether it was the soldiers or the thugs, they all had left the laboratory to do the task given by the two cunning men.

Kris couldn't hear their instruction because Jaden Smith deliberately whispered right into the ears of those werewolves, but he was sure that their plan was not good.

They must be planning for another war, and the history of the werewolf's war would repeat itself. He couldn't imagine how would the world be if there was another werewolf's war.

Kris didn't even know who was the person behind it all, and he could only wait for an opportunity to run away from the laboratory.

But, when would the opportunity come to him? Instead of getting a small hole for him to escape, he could see Felix Smith, with a syringe filled with a mysterious red formula, walk toward him with a nasty smirk on his face.

"It's all about powers, Kris," the cunning scientist spoke again, repeating what he said before. "The current government didn't let me get more powers, and they even rejected me when I wanted to be the head of Orka. That's why I'm seeking powers now."

Felix Smith had stopped walking in front of him and looked down at him, still with the mysterious syringe in his hands.

"So, you and your ally are planning for a rebellion? A coup d'etat for the sake of powers?" Kris asked the older man in a bitter tone.

There were still people who were thirsty for powers, and they were willing to do anything to gain what he wanted. And even someone who looked so kind and soft like Felix Smith was willing to do anything for the powers.

Kevin always said that Felix was a genius scientist with great potential, but his greed caused him to leave the right path for the sake of power.

Kris didn't know anything about Felix Smith who wanted to be the leader of Orka, but it turned out that greed was the reason why Felix Smith chose the evil path instead.

If Felix Smith could be patient, he probably could be the next leader of Orka because of his ability, but he chose an instant way instead.

"My current boss promised me a high position in the government, and I decided to support him to be the next president of this country," Felix Smith replied to his question, and Kris stared at the older man in disbelief.

"If your current boss wants to be the next president, then that person could participate in the next election. Why did that person go to the extent for a rebellion instead?"

Planning a rebellion wouldn't be easy, but that mysterious person decided to plan a rebellion instead of simply participating in the election. Moreover, that person also went to the extent to initiate another werewolf war just to achieve the goal. Kris couldn't understand that person at all.

"Our boss wants to revenge for what happened to his ancestor in the past," Jaden Dunn, who was still in the room but remained silent for a while, suddenly butted in. "His ancestor was the king of the country a hundred years ago, but his trusted subordinate betrayed him and rebelled against him, causing him to be punished to death. He just wants to avenge his family and take back what his family owned a hundred years ago."

Kris frowned upon hearing Jaden's explanation. It seemed the story was not foreign in his ears. He felt like he had ever heard a story about a king of Calenta some time ago.

The young man worked his brain to remember the event, and he finally recalled the moment. It was when he, Kevin, and Jack visited an ancient dungeon that was used as a quarantine site for the innocent werewolves from the last year's war.

Back then, Kevin told him a story about a nasty king who loved to punish people cruelly and ended up being attacked by his people because of his ruthless behavior. Kris wasn't sure whether the story indeed connected or not, but he shouldn't ignore the possibility.

"Don't you know that we have the same hometown, Kris?" Felix spoke again, and Kris shifted his gaze to the scientist again. "I grew up at Shallop Coastal area too, and I've known you since you were young, Kris."

Kris furrowed his brows at Felix's statement. He remembered that Kevin once told him that Felix was from Shallop just like him, but he didn't know that Felix had known him since he was young.

"Maybe you don't remember me, but you saved me once when a thief stole my wallet at the dock. You've grown up, but I still remember your sharp eyes."

Kris remained silent when he heard Felix continue his speech. He didn't remember the event at all, but if he ever saved Felix when he was young, then that man shouldn't do anything bad to him, right?

"I won't do anything bad to you, Kris. Opposite to that, I will help you get a strong power again. However, you will be under our control after this."

The pair of hazel eyes widened, and his body froze when Felix leaned closer to him with the mysterious syringe in his hand.
