The Blue Eyes

Chapter 260 - ON THE SAME SIDE

Steve was beyond panicked when the layer of ice continued spreading on his left hand. He tried to break free from the cover of the ice but to no avail. It was not a usual layer of ice, and he couldn't break free even if he had used his full strength.

Realizing that it was no use for him to try to break free from the ice, he then shifted his gaze to Kevin's face again. He tried to attack Kevin with his hand that was holding a gun, but he was not faster than Kevin.

The young scientist moved his left hand swiftly to capture Steve's right hand, and the terrifying thing started to happen again when a layer of thick ice once again spread from Kevin's hand to Steve's hand. Now both Steve's hands were trapped by Kevin's ice.

"Y-You..." Steve's face turned pale all of a sudden as he realized the situation. "How come you still have the power when the antidote has been extracted from your body?"

Steve looked overconfident earlier, but now he looked like a small bug being pressed under Kevin's foot.

"Do you think I'm stupid?" The young scientist answered coldly. "Some people kept urging us to let go of our powers. I can see some of them are sincere with their intention, but I can also see that some of them have a hidden motive for us. Do you think I will just let go of my powers as they wished?"

Kevin looked so dangerous as his blue eyes glimmered brightly at Steve. The latter couldn't say anything and just squirmed under the dangerous stare.

"I have a plan to hunt you tomorrow, but now that you have come to my lair by yourself, you make it easier for me. I will kill you with my own hands, Steve!"

Kevin was beyond angry, and he want to end the life of a traitor named Steve. He was getting ready for the final strike, but a scream stopped his movement.

"KEVIN!"

Kevin was about to increase the intensity of his ice powers, but he held back when he heard a loud shout coming from the yard of his house. He glanced past Steve's shoulder and found Grace Hasler standing in his yard with her raging breath.

The fierce lady suddenly appeared in his yard, but he wasn't surprised at all. His face remained flat even after his blue eyes caught how the lady march toward him.

"What are you doing with him?" The short-haired lady immediately asked him a question after she arrived in front of Kevin. "Are you going to kill him for real?" She continued even if her breath was still rough.

Kevin's hands were still connected with Steve because of his ice attack, but he didn't feel any coldness or discomfort even if the layer of ice enveloped his hands. It was different from Steve that almost couldn't feel his hands anymore because of the dreadful sensation.

"I think I should be the one who asks you the question, Mrs. Hasler," the raven-haired scientist replied calmly. "I saw you running from your car to my house, so can you tell me what are you doing here? Did you happen to stroll around here again?"

Perhaps it was the first time Kevin saw Grace Hasler lose her cool after hearing the sarcasm coming from him. The fierce lady widened her eyes and looked confused, seeming not to know what she should tell the young man.

Kevin noticed the strange attitude, but he didn't say anything as he still waited for an answer from the lady.

"I was worried about you so I wanted to make sure that you are alright. I was in my car when I saw that you had a guest, but then I felt uneasy and immediately ran toward you."

Grace Hasler looked so different tonight. Instead of wearing her cold facade, the lady seemed to be behaving as herself and not hiding anything from Kevin.

Kevin was puzzled inside. Was it Grace's true color, or was it just the lady's other mask?

"I remember when you said that you hate me, but suddenly you said that you're worried about me? Sorry, Mrs. Hasler. But I don't know which true color is yours, so I can't trust you."

Kevin was acting cold, and Grace Hasler gritted her teeth before replying, "Maybe I shouldn't have believed in you right away either. You said that you have let go of your powers, but what is it? You still have your ice powers with you?"

The lady's hazel eyes were on his hands that were connected with Steve, and it seemed the lady had come back to her usual cold character.

"I know that something like this would happen, so I deliberately lied to you and the others, Mrs. Hasler. I can't believe in anyone to protect me, and that's why I have to protect myself."

Kevin and Grace glared at each other, and none of them was willing to give in.

However, Grace was the one who broke the contact as she sighed. "I know what happened to your boyfriend, so we'd better interrogate this man so we can find more information about your boyfriend."

Kevin looked surprised this time. He deliberately hid the truth that Kris was missing, but Grace managed to find out about that incident. He didn't even tell Julia about it, so how come the fierce lady knew about it?

"You know what happened to Kris? But how? What are you planning to do? You have been spying on us, right?"

The young scientist couldn't hold back his curiosity anymore. Grace Hasler indeed knew a lot about him and Kris, and even knew that his fiance went missing when he was hiding the truth.

Grace Hasler looked a bit hesitant as she looked up at Kevin again, but then she answered the man's question, "We are on the same side, Kevin.. Stop treating me as your enemy."
