Spirit Soul

218 Outsmarting each other

Little did Kyle know that true chaos had just begun to descend.

Several groups of various participants approached him, giving off the intention to kill him mercilessly.

He had never expected them to leave him alone, but the fact that he was completely surrounded annoyed him a little bit.

Fortunately, the distance they had kept from him was more than enough for him to plan his next steps.

Kyle's current location was on the outskirts of the dome, and only half a kilometer away from the closest dome wall.

This meant that he could leave the dome in less than ten seconds as long as he released his entire strength at once.

The only issue was that slightly more than an hour was still left on his countdown.

Every second seemed to take much longer than before, but that was only obvious.

His focus on the countdown was much higher than it was the case just a few hours before where he hadn't bothered about it, at all.

Thus, it felt like time had slowed down, while it was, in fact, not the case.

Looking around, Kyle scanned the potential, and strength of his opponents within a moment.

Their special traits were inevitably revealed to him, giving Kyle the necessary intel to act accordingly.

Most of the groups that focused on him belonged to the Kandras, Aeroa, and Myda races, indicating to him that even the Aldra race had given up on paying attention to him.

It didn't really bother Kyle that the Nasgas, Lohars, other Demihumans, and Aldra didn't attack him because it would have been a hassle to escape the grasp of thousands of opponents.

Thus the fewer attackers, the less difficult it would be for him to walk away unscathed.

However, at the same time, he was unable to make use of the horde of attackers and make them attack each other instead of targeting him.

The three races that came from further away didn't focus on attacking one another.

Whether this was planned or unintentional was not something Kyle could figure out.

But what he knew was that it annoyed him extremely.

Taking a deep breath, Kyle randomly picked a direction to advance before he materialized wind currents all around him.

After he enveloped his body tightly, the wind currents issued faint noises.

His robe fluttered in the wind, only for several compressed wind bullets to shoot out of the robe.

Kyle wanted to figure out something he had noticed earlier.

Because of that, his wind bullets shot straight towards the Aeroa who was circling above him.

Using their own wind affinity to control the surrounding winds instead of materializing new wind currents, they created crescent wind blades.

Afterward, they shot them out, targeting the wind bullets Kyle controlled expertly.

However, even before the attacks could collide, Kyle exerted the wind affinity in order to intercept in the control of the crescent wind blades.

They fluctuated wildly and dispersed or changed their trajectory after his interception, giving Kyle the intel he required.

'So it is really like this!' He just thought with a subtle smile on his face.

Natural winds were something every being with a wind affinity seed was able to control.

As such, with the Aeroa race around, materializing his own wind currents was the best he could do.

That was what he had in mind because he had to prevent leaving or revealing any kinds of openings that could be used by others to kill him.

Meanwhile, the groups of Aeroa noticed that Kyle was able to interfere and meddle in their control over the natural winds.

This was not something everyone could easily do, certainly not someone as new as Kyle in handling the wind affinity.

It indicated that despite having used it for a relatively less time, Kyle's proficiency over the wind affinity was extremely high, and possibly even higher than theirs.

Understanding this hurt their pride, which led them to drop any ideas of holding back anymore.

Rather, they wanted to crush the masked man for having more talent in the affinity they ought to be the strongest and most proficient in.

Wanting to teach him a lesson, all of them began to materialize their own respective wind currents and shot all kinds of long-range attacks at him.

They numbered in the hundreds, giving Kyle a huge headache.

However, what the Aeroa didn't know was that he smiled behind the mask he was wearing at their reaction.

A part of his plan was to enrage the groups of Aeroa enough to make them attack him with all of their might without holding back.

But from the looks of it, their anger was far greater than what he had initially hoped for, which was even better in his opinion.

Smiling brightly, Kyle circulated Soul force through his body which enhanced his speed.

Meanwhile, the wind currents that enveloped him allowed him to ignore the natural air resistance, while additionally accelerating his speed.

While wielding the Starbreaker Katana, Kyle even sensed the Soul energy within the Soul Storage overflowing, giving him the necessary strength to ignore smaller injuries that he sustained.

After all, it was impossible to evade all, the extremely fast, attacks of the Aeroa race.

Moving in a way that allowed him to avoid most wind blades, bullets, spears, spikes, and needles could already be considered exceptional.

Only a few cut him every now and then.

Ignoring the cuts, Kyle didn't even use his Nurture ability to stop the bleeding, let alone give them a second glance.

There were not many, and he didn't even feel the pain right now as adrenaline was overflowing through his entire body.

Shooting through the open area, he reached the most crowded place that was close to two groups of the Myda and Kandras race.

This was exactly where he wanted to be, and after perceiving how the groups focused on him, and were all approaching him with a grim face and the intent to tear him apart, Kyle didn't even feel any mercy.

Using the wind affinity, Kyle materialized more wind currents which he used to push himself further ahead, increasing his speed by another notch.

Afterward, he pierced the Starbreaker katana towards one of the closest Myda.

The Myda towered over two meters, and wielded a total of four weapons at once, giving off an intimidating feeling as his red-colored hands began to glow all of a sudden.

Kyle sensed that he was in immediate danger, which saved his life as his alert mind help him predict the upcoming attack accurately.

It allowed him to perceive that the Myda's arm's movement speed exceeded the momentum of his remaining body, by a large margin.

Because of that, it looked like the Myda was slashing at him dozens of times, using an extraordinary movement speed!

Meanwhile, Kyle was only wielding one weapon. His momentum was also not enough to endure the onslaught of dozens of attacks within two seconds.

As such, he was forced to avoid the Myda, blasting several balls of wind towards the huge opponent's lower body.

While the Myda's upper body seemed unparalleled in terms of physical strength and balance, Kyle figured that their lower body was relatively weak and would quickly lose balance.

It was not normal to wield four heavy broadswords at once, which should even be a burden to the mighty Myda.

Thus, firing several compressed balls of wind towards the least protected area of the Myda's lower body, Kyle was able to make him lose his balance.

Taking advantage of this, he deflected the two attacks that were still about to hit him before advancing past the towering Myda.

He simply ignored him, further enraging the Myda, who regained his balance.

Gritting his teeth, he wanted to follow Kyle, only to sense something from above him.

Growling, the Myda brandished his four heavy broadswords while turning around once again.

Lifting the heavy broadswords to block off the dozens of attacks that reached him only a moment later, his feet sunk into the ground.

The impact of the wind blades, bullets, and spears was not overwhelming, but the number of attacks caused him to grow irritated.

Several attacks brushed past the wall of four heavy broadswords, slicing at his skin as crimson-red blood started oozing out of the injuries.

None of the cuts were deep, but it was still more than enough to make the Myda understand that the group of Aeroas had become increasingly impatient and as such wanted to kill him by hook or crook.

Initially, they had planned to treat each other respectfully and work together until the other races had been obliterated.

But given the current circumstance, and the fact that the Aeroa attacked them, the Myda didn't even think about sparing the winged chickens anymore!

However, the Myda was not the only one to be attacked by the Aeroa groups, who weren't even able to differentiate between friend and foe anymore. Common sense had been tossed out by anger and pride making them lose their rationale.

They attacked everyone who was in their way, whether it was unintentional or simply their reckless attitude after their pride had been shattered.

As such, the other Myda, and even Kandras turned into targets of the crescent wind blades, wind bullets, and wind spears, needlessly dying and getting injured as collateral damage.

After all, their only focus was Kyle!

But nobody wanted to accept this, which caused the Kandras to split their groups into those that were supposed to hunt down the Aeroa for betraying their alliance, while the rest were ordered to finish off Kyle.

A similar scenario occurred in the rows of the Myda that revealed numerous crossbows which they used in order to attack the Aeroa mercilessly.

After both races had betrayed each other, they momentarily lost sight of Kyle, who had run through the rows of Myda and Kandras to create chaos, and distrust between the three races.

This had been his plan, from the beginning, after all!

It had worked much better than initially expected and he had not even actively done anything to make it turn into reality.

'Why….or rather how?!' Kyle wondered, utterly confused.

He had expected to nearly die in the crowd of the Myda and Kandra races by being run over.

Yet, the only injuries he had sustained originated from the attacks of the Aeroa race.

This was just too weird, causing him to feel like he had to figure out what he was missing.

What Kyle didn't know was that the devouring tree seedling was currently still releasing the last remnants of spores.

Its spores development path might have been nurtured only for a short moment but it could release a large batch of spores in a single momentum.

However, this didn't necessarily mean that the devouring tree seedling would stop releasing the mysterious spores!

Kyle hadn't realized that a huge quantity of spores was clinging to his robe, only to be released the moment he had made use of his wind affinity.

It took him a while to understand that the Kandras and Myda around him had been affected by this, making them forcefully skirt away from him.

The effects were not exactly powerful contrary to before because the spores were only the little portion of remnants that had been left behind.

But even then, the moment Kyle realized how effective the devouring tree seedling's spores were against all kinds of beings at the Vitae stage, he couldn't help but smile radiantly.

The spores were simply too advantageous for the current situation, after all!

Yet, it was just the moment he smiled that his own movements seemed to have slowed down a little bit.

He felt tired all of a sudden, and couldn't move properly.

Evading the attack that shot at him with the speed of a snail, Kyle felt a trace of fear emerging from the depths of his conscience.

'I…have been affected by the spores too!!'
