85. Unknown lands. [2] (R-18)

One month has passed since Logan entered the unknown lands.

In the beginning, they tried to find a way out of the forest but failed to do so because of Logan's health condition.

Currently, the group had only one goal and it was to find a human settlement. 

Logan was also unable to do anything. So they went with the flow.

Anna and Lisa would practice martial arts in the afternoon outside a small hut. This hut was their temporary shelter, created by Lara's magic.

Hunger and thirst increased every day as they kept exploring deeper into the forest.

Logan would faint now and then. They would carry him on their backs alternately. It wasn't a permanent solution, but they had no choice.

Logan's health was the most crucial problem for the group.

The group had moved north, deeper into the forest to find a river or stream, but there wasn't any.

After traveling for a long time, they finally found a stream and built another temporary shelter on a nearby tree.

The reason to build it on a tree was to protect Logan from ground monsters.

The trees in this forest were high, and their trunks were thicker than the average trees.

This forest was different than any they had ever seen. Sunlight barely touched the ground.

There were bushes with sweet and poisonous berries. Rarely any tree with fruits.

They were cautious of mushrooms since they had no idea about their poison.

Thanks to ex-adventurer Lara, the food wasn't a problem.

At night giant, sluggish tree monsters were lurking around.

These monsters had unique characteristics. Their body was hard yet brittle, and their movements were very slow. 

They attacked individually. The trio had a hard time fighting these monsters while protecting the sleeping Logan.

There were no monster cores inside these tree monsters. After death, they would turn into light particles and drop a part of the tree such as roots, leaves, or fruit.

These giant tree monsters were called Treants. These monsters were comparable to that a second circle monster.

Anna and Lisa would use their physical strength, while Lara would use her golems to protect Logan from harm.

Since demonic energy was blocked, no one was able to use it to fuel magic.

They took Logan's utmost care.

Sometimes in his slumber, his body would heat up like an inferno, while sometimes it would feel colder than ice. His illness was unseen.

The girls had never treated anyone without healing magic either. They couldn't provide him with proper treatment.

"Should one of us leave and search ahead?" Anna suggested.

"We should stay in a group. We've been traveling for over a month now and we haven't found a single settlement, breaking the group's strength will put everyone in danger." Lara commented.

"..." Lisa stayed quiet.

Their eyes were burning with only determination to help recover Logan faster.

Even in this state, the group never stopped their journey. They wanted to find a human settlement to provide some sort of treatment to Logan.

His body did not respond to healing magic using mana either. Lisa believed that it was due to the demon race that they cannot use, or get healed by light magic anymore.

The team's morale hit a new bottom every day.

Until one starry night, Logan opened his eyes.

"How long this time?" He asked.

"Four days," Lara answered.

"I see…" Logan looked at the sky with a lost expression.

He did not know what to do.

"Logan, do you know why this is happening? Your body would heat up and in the next moment, it would get colder than ice. I have never seen any case like this before." Lara asked.

"Hmm… I am more or less aware." Everyone looked at Logan with desperate eyes. If he could tell what the problem was, then finding a solution was not impossible.

'Should I tell them?' This question never crossed Logan's mind.

Telling someone about his demon core was the same as telling them about the method to kill him.

But, how could Logan distrust these three girls? If not for them, he would've died anyway.

"You see, I am a viscount-level demon." Logan began his story.

"This gives me the privilege to store all of my life force in a core, hidden in any part of my body. That core is half broken." He summed up his story and a heavy silence fell.

After a month of traveling, the group got to know the truth behind Logan's condition.

"Master, do you know, how it can be healed?" Lisa asked, breaking the silence.

"No idea," Logan answered.

The conversation ended.

Logan walked for a few days.

He tried to call the system and operate any of the tools in the inventory, but to no avail.

His system did not respond.

Everything seemed to be lost.

Logan was out of motivation.

One afternoon, Anna and Lisa had left to hunt food nearby.

Logan was awake and cutting wood with an axe.

"You should not do such tasks, Logan," Lara said.

Her anger was subdued but her tone was still annoyed.

"I want to be of some use at least," Logan answered honestly.

"You don't have to do anything to prove your worth," Lara answered. "Dummy." Her cheeks were slightly flushed.

"Hm?" Logan was confused. Did he hear something?

Logan went closer to Lara.

After more than a month, at least his outer injuries were healed.

"?!" he tightly hugged her from behind.

"Why are you helping me?" Logan asked while he buried his face into Lara's nape.

She squirmed at Logan's sudden action. She hadn't bathed in a month! However, if she pushed Logan away, she feared it might harm him.

"Why not?" Lara asked.

"I am mad at you for converting me into a demon without asking me. But I am not unhappy." Lara was a straightforward person, even when she was a human.

"If you aren't under my control, that means you can kill me anytime. I've done so many things to you, don't you want to take revenge?" Logan asked.

"Revenge?" Lara turned and held Logan's face in her arms.

Slap!

"Eh?" Logan was more confused.

He felt his left cheek burning as Lara's palm was imprinted over it.

"Done," Lara said and pulled Logan closer to her.

"I've taken my revenge." Her crystal green eyes looked piercing his soul.

"If I wanted to kill you, I would've done it long ago. But it's because of this stupid love that I want to do the same you did to me a month ago; protect you." Logan's eyes widened.

"When we were standing on the battleground, I was out of that stupid binding. I was running away, but when I saw you protecting us, I stayed." Lara's face got closer and closer.

"Man up, Logan. This isn't the Logan I've seen up until now. This isn't the Logan I admired." Her lips were only a centimeter away from his.

"Your personality sucks. But I still love it." Winding her hands behind his head, Lara softly planted her lips on his left cheek.

This time, the left cheek was burning with the desire to have more.

Lara was leaving as soon as she kissed his cheek when Logan wrapped his right arm around her slender waist.

"W-what are you doing?" Lara was flustered.

Her actions had awakened a sleeping monster.

"You think you can leave after teasing me?" Logan's eyes hid behind his hair.

Her body shook when she heard Logan.

From a man who had lost everything to a person who stood above the apex of the world, Logan's transition was pretty quick.

"L-Logan! You are not in the condition to do stuff right now!" Lara warned.

But who was Logan?

"You are forgetting something," Logan said while his breathing was haggard.

"W-what?" Lara was even more flustered.

Logan cornered Lara and slammed back her into a tree.

"L-Logan… I think we should stop- hnng!" Lara's protest was thrown out as Logan grabbed her hands and raised them above her head.

Her armpits were revealed.

"S-stop! I am all sweaty! Haven't taken any bath either!" Lara tried to push him away, but his strength was no joke.

'Where did he get that strength.' Lara thought.

'Isn't he weak right now?' Lara shook her head, but Logan ignored her.

"You don't taste bad," Logan said while licking Lara's armpit.

"Eek!" Lara was sent to heaven.

How long had it been? Her lust was pilled up.

She tried to stop Logan, but she could not fight his touch.

It was stimulating.

Her body shivered as Logan's tongue traveled all the way to her neck.

"Mmmm~" Lara muffled.

"Lara…" Logan's hot breath tickled her ear. His nose brushed her neck.

He gently kissed her over the collarbone, sending chills down her spine.

The temperature was cold, but Logan's tongue was warm.

Logan let go of her hands and gently held her head.

"If not for you, I would've died long ago. I love you, Lara." Logan did not wait for her answer and pushed his lips onto hers.

Tears flowed down Lara's cheeks. Logan's tongue sneakily entered her mouth and entangled with her tongue.
