“Wait, Elder Su! Are you sure there’s nobody else here?” Ling Chuxi frowned as she looked at the roadside suspiciously.

“Of course! The Golden Pill Sect has been destroyed for many years and the mechanism’s operation is only known by us. Even if other people came here, there’s nothing they can do about it,” Su Yizhi said confidently. However, when he glanced at the spot that Ling Chuxi was looking at, his expression changed.

In his excitement of returning to the former site of the Golden Pill Sect, he had not noticed his surroundings. To his surprise, there were remnants of a bonfire and food by the roadside! He was constantly telling people terrible jokes, laughing himself silly as the others stood there in confusion.

Someone coming to the former site of the Golden Pill Sect for a casual visit was definitely impossible, so what had these people come here for? Ling Chuxi frowned. Her enemies were few, but did someone who knew that she wanted to rebuild the Golden Pill Sect come here to cause trouble or stop them? It didn’t seem like it. If they wanted to do that, then why would so many people light a bonfire here and spend the night?

Just as Ling Chuxi, Su Yizhi, and the others were trying to figure it out, the sound of approaching footsteps greeted them. Everyone was on guard as they looked behind them. The footsteps came closer and they heard people speaking.

“Great Master Quan, can you really figure out the mechanism of the cable car? Will you really help us to go to the former site of the Golden Pill Sect?” A man spoke, his voice uncomfortably shrill.

“What are you talking about? If you don’t trust me, then don’t come begging for my help. I’ll just leave now.” Another voice bellowed angrily, his tone so rough that it sounded like wood being sawed.

“Great Master Quan, don’t be mad! Who hasn’t heard of the Great Master Quan, the most amazing mechanism master in this realm? How can this simple mechanism be a match for your esteemed self?” The first person hurriedly flattered the other man, scared that he would leave.

“That’s true. How can a lousy mechanism done by the Golden Pill Sect possibly outsmart me?” The second man scoffed in disdain. “Let me make this clear: After I resolve the mechanism and we make it to the former site of the Golden Pill Sect, I will enter first. I will take three items that are to my liking, then I will leave. Everything else is yours, and I couldn’t care less about what you do with them.”

“Yes, yes, Great Master Quan. As long as you can resolve the mechanism and help our Jade Pool Sect be rebuilt, you can have everything in there if you want!” The shrill voice promised, but inwardly he was sneering. Were the Golden Pill Sects’ treasures really so easily found? Things that were out in the open definitely wouldn’t be anything good, so he could have them.
