"Aunt Li, that's impossible. I could never do such a thing. I will only marry Ye Tianxin. There can be no other woman in my life."

Aunt Li frowned and tried to persuade Li Qingcang further. "Qingcang, this is only in name. Tianxin will still be your fiancee. Nothing will change. We will just get someone to pose as your fiancee to appease your grandmother. You know that your grandmother loves you very much. Can you try to make her upset and do it for her sake?"

"Aunt Li, do you think you can get someone to pose as my fiancee to trick Grandma? You know how she is; she'd want to announce it to the whole world. Then what am I to do? Should I marry this new woman and make Tianxin suffer? Aunt Li, I won't back down. This is not how I will not show my filial piety to Grandmother."

Li Qingcang did not want to listen anymore. He walked back to the house as soon as he finished speaking.

Aunt Li did not think there was any problem with her proposal. It wouldn't even be official, anyway. Why did Qingcang have to react so strongly to her suggestion? To her, anything could be resolved by giving in, compromising, exchanging or pretending. That was how politics worked too.

The door bell rang just as Li Qingcang walked into the living room.

The servant went to open the door and was taken aback when she saw Ying Yimei. As a loyal servant to Wu Tong, Ying Yimei had served as the Li residence for many years.

The servant knew that Grandma Li had been trying to speak well of Ying Yimei the past few days and Wu Tong had ignored her. Now it seemed she had turned up uninvited.

"Madam, Ms. Ying is here."

Wu Tong tried to force herself to smile when she saw Ying Yimei.

She used to like Ying Yimei in the past. She thought she was hardworking and driven. Now, it seemed that she was too ambitious for her own good. Wu Tong didn't like her anymore.

Ying Yimei knew full well that Li Qingcang already had Ye Tianxin. Why did she want to break them up? Her intentions were obvious.

"Yimei, now that you're here, come to the living room. I miss you." Grandma Li called out excitedly to her.

Ying Yimei nodded. She went over and sat next to Grandma Li.

"Grandma, I bought these biscuits just for you. They are very famous. Try them."

"Yimei, you're so considerate." Grandma Li was ecstatic.

"You bought these for me because you know I like the biscuits. My children don't even care about me; they wish I was dead already."

Aunt Li heard Grandma Li's last sentence when she walked into the room. "Mom, how can you say such things? What do you mean we don't care about you? Look at Wu Tong. She's been so hospitable to you. Ever since you moved in here with them, she worked hard to make sure you are settled down well. Are you just going to ignore all of that?"

Grandma Li retorted, "She's my daughter-in-law. It's only right that she is filial to me."

Aunt Li sat next to Grandma Li and peeled an orange. "Why is that? Your son should be filial to you, but Wu Tong's own mother brought her up for over 20 years and groomed her to be an engineer. She had given up on her career when she married your son. Don't tell me you don't know what she had sacrificed."

Grandma Li felt ashamed to be told off by her own daughter. She started to argue with Aunt Li.
