Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player
74 Five Seconds
As Blood Lily, and part of the surrounding crowd, tried to understand why some players were upset, she suddenly saw a green shadow falling from the sky to the Druid Centaur.
This green-clad figure rushed before anyone else and fell before the mythical creature.
"Kaizen!" Klank recognized the armor and broad shoulders, so he shouted loudly.
When Kaizen landed before the Druid Centaur, the monster lowered its front hooves and looked strangely at the happy expression on the black-haired man's face.
"Don't you dare to run away." Kaizen uttered, even though he was exhausted and almost out of mana.
The Centaur Druid took this as a tremendous insult.
How could such a weak-looking human be trying to face him alone? How could there be someone so audacious?
The monster snorted, expelling air from the sides of its jaw and nostrils. Then, as it began to run towards Kaizen, its hooves began to leave luminescent green sparks behind, resembling the strong glow of hundreds of fireflies gathered in a very dark forest.
Kaizen held tightly onto the handle of Theus' Spear and, instead of running toward the monster, firmly planted his feet on the ground.
"What is that guy doing?" Jeewok asked aloud as he ran alongside half of the melee group. Everyone was trying to reach the area where the Centaur Druid was.
"Isn't it obvious? He will throw the spear." Salles answered him. "Mages, don't shoot!" He ordered.
Taznaar heard this response from Salles and had nothing to add. It was apparent that Kaizen would throw the spear when he set foot on the ground. However, few people were so good at aiming and had the strength to try to throw a spear, even more so close to their target. Throwing a spear was not something simple. It required concentration, experience, the right movements, the right pose, and a specific amount of attributes to apply considerable damage.
Suddenly, the possibility that this Kaizen was someone high-level and not just a nosy wimp, plagued Taznaar's mind, and he began to run with even more energy.
As soon as Kaizen threw the spear, the Centaur Druid prepared to defend it, but the creature soon realized that the spear was not following a straight path. This spear would not even come close to hitting him.
This was perfect for the Boss, because now the pretentious man who was trying to face him head-on didn't have a weapon to defend himself.
What the creature didn't think of was that Kaizen had learned from the Blood Lily's mistake earlier. Thanks to the Epic Rank arrow shot by the redheaded woman, the Psyker learned that attacking the Druid Centaur head-on was not effective. Consequently, 'missing' the spear was already in Kaizen's plans.
The spear flew to the right and entered the darkness. For a few moments, all Kaizen could hear were the sounds of the creature's hooves rushing toward him and the footsteps of the dozens of players behind him. He didn't even consider taking another weapon from his inventory to protect himself from the onslaught of the mythical creature because that would hinder his concentration. In any case, his plan was foolproof as long as his enemy didn't know his abilities. The thrown spear was controlled to fly into the sky as high as it could. By now, you must know what Kaizen was planning, right?
'Five more seconds, just five more seconds.' Kaizen cried out internally.
His mana bar was already low, and as much as he had 100 MP just a few minutes ago, now there were just 15 left. Exactly one mana was consumed for every 10 meters the spear went up, resulting in five mana per second.
The Spear of Theus shot into the sky like a bird, reaching an incredible altitude of 150 meters in three seconds.
The Blood Lily obtained the last two seconds Kaizen needed, which, as if it wasn't enough to spend the Four-Winged Pheasant's Epic Rank arrow, also spent its only arrow made of dragon scales. The arrow was called Dragon's Breath, and as soon as the redhead shot it, it was enveloped with intense reddish energy.
The Dragon's Breath lit up the entire battlefield, streaking across it like a meteorite in the sky. Everyone looked at it with enormous admiration.
Blood Lily stopped holding her breath and looked with apprehension at her flying arrow.
As soon as the Centaur Druid saw that red ray of energy coming his way, he stopped his attack on Kaizen and waved his green spear forward. Repeating precisely what he had done with the golden arrow from before to defend himself against this second attempt by the Blood Lily.
The Dragon's Breath would have no more chance of hitting than the golden arrow, for although it was also of Epic Rank, it did not have the attributes even close to the previous one. Blood lily shot that second arrow because she recognized the man standing before the Druid Centaur. How could she not remember? This was the rookie she had watched fight last Friday.
The Druid Centaur's brake got exactly what Kaizen needed. The moment the Dragon's Breath collided with the Boss's spear, the Psyker opened his arms and shouted:
"One!"
*Troooooommm*
As intended by Kaizen, the Spear of Theus was the shortest path to the ground that lightning encountered, and as Psyker made sure the spear was exactly on top of the Centaur Druid, the lightning struck the Boss.
The mythical creature fell to the ground, losing its vitality as its internal organs and blood sprayed out.
Even Korgrak, who had realized before anyone that Kaizen was a phenomenal player, was not spared by the shock of this event.
What were the chances that lightning would strike exactly where the Boss was? How the hell did someone as lucky as Kaizen exist?
The reality was not so simple, at least not for Kaizen, a type of player who had the rare ability always to see what was beyond his vision showed.
Before running up to the Centaur Druid, he had already thought of dozens of possible scenarios that could occur if he tried to attack the Boss from afar. Just as he had also calculated the time needed to reach the creature if necessary. Finally, he was the only one who understood how the mechanics of lightning and thunder in the region worked.
Nine lightning bolts had come out of the giant cloud above the Howling Cliff in the last five minutes. Each of these lightning bolts fell in the direction of a cardinal point, i.e., northeast, north, west, southeast, and so on. Finally, one lightning bolt always fell in the middle of the abyss, in the region's center, in other words, exactly in the battle area where the Boss was. Kaizen didn't even hesitate to use this to his advantage.
However, although his plan worked and the lightning struck the Centaur Druid, the mythical creature was still breathing, and dozens of angry players were running towards Kaizen. Among them was Taznaar, who was angrier than anyone else.
