Reverse Apocalypse: The Devil's Revenge
80 Skullthrone
Liam had to acknowledge that the Skullthrone was a sight to behold. It was intimidating to look at the huge throne that was constructed from countless Skulls of various beings. There were Human, Demon, and animal skulls used to build the throne, with each of them carefully arranged and stacked upon each other to create the shape of a seat.
The skulls were arranged to make sure that the empty eye sockets and gaping jaws would form a grim and unsettling visage.
That was enough for the natives' bodies to erupt in goosebumps. Even Olivia hadn't expected such a terrific sight to unfold in front of her in the Boss Monster's room.
The throne was imposing and intimidating, looming over anyone daring enough to enter the final room. The Skulls were aged, yellowed and cracked with decay, giving off an eerie, otherworldly presence, which was pretty logical. After all, the Skulls were brought from the Underworld.
Liam could clearly sense the heavy weight of death and decay in the room, which also originated from the Skullthrone. It showed Liam that the Skullthrone was an ornament used to decrease the combat prowess of the living. The Shedim race was an exemption to this weakened sensation.
In fact, they could make use of this effect to increase their own strength to a certain degree.
That frustrated Liam even more, knowing deep down that the Boss Monster was able to increase its strength even further. This was quite troublesome, considering that the Boss Monster was not a Shedim Warrior, but actually a Shedim Champion!
It didn't have an Arcane Circle, but its stats were probably all in the [B] or [A] range. Adding to it the fact that it was a Boss Monster, most of the Shedim Champion's stats were likely to have been enhanced to [A+] or even [S].
'If the Shedim Champion Boss can control the effect of the Skullthrone properly, it will be even stronger,' Liam thought, biting his lower lip as he keenly observed the Shedim Champion in the hopes of finding a weak spot.
The Shedim Champion's huge body was grey-skinned and muscular. It was a humanoid being with black scales and mottled flesh that was clearly visible in the large stinky holes that spread all across its body.
The Shedim Champion was five meters tall, had a Lizard head and it wielded a humongous dark green harpoon that rested next to the Skullthrone.
It had yet to move, but its eyes were trained on Liam, following his movements easily and calmly. The Shedim Champion was wearing merely an ordinary cloth that was tied to its waist and covered other small parts of its body. The Lizard's head was distorted, it had sharp protruding fangs and a sharp jawline, which gave it an even more menacing appearance. The Shedim Champion's chest was tattooed with various symbols all of which had specific meanings.
Liam could tell the meaning of the tattoos and he didn't like what he saw.
The Shedim Champion was an existence born and raised for war. It was only part of the Lesser Demons but as long as they achieved enough, they would be given the necessary aid and permission to create their first Arcane Circle. Because its stats were so high, the Shedim Champion was likely to create an Ancient Arcane Circle, thereby increasing its strength even further.
And according to the tattoos on the chest of the Shedim Champion, it was about to finish its final trial before it would be given permission to create its primary Arcane Circle. That meant it was extremely powerful and desperate to increase its strength.
Its body was heavily scarred due to the various ferocious battles it had fought and survived over the course of years. The scars were a sign of honor, a clear indicator of the rough and violent lifestyle of the Shedim Champion.
No matter what kind of idea formed in his mind, all of them were crushed only seconds later as he visualized the results of a battle with the Shedim Champion Boss. The final results were certainly not something to look forward to.
The only advantages he could point out were that the Boss Monster wasn't wearing any armor and that it had many areas that were not covered in black scales. The holes of mottled flesh were the Shedim Champion's vulnerable spot. Slicing through these areas would certainly be helpful.
However, in order to achieve this, he would have to reach the vulnerable spots in the first place and inflict damage.
Using the same tactic he had used for the last few days wouldn't be enough. The Black Tarthear Needles would be useless and Liam couldn't be sure whether his claws were sharp enough to dig into the flesh of the Shedim Champion or not.
It was also questionable, whether or not the Black Steel Halbert of Ludwig was strong enough. Liam presumed that using enough Arcane Power to enhance the Black Steel Halbert would do the trick. If not, he still had the Arcane Kunai. Using them, combined with a few other means and dirty tricks should make it possible for him to reach and injure the Shedim Champion.
The only problem was that there were a few more Shedim for him to take care of. None of the Mutant Elite Shedim or the Canine Shedim were weak. Liam could fight them by himself and obliterate them on his own. But the problem was that he couldn't fight them with the Shedim Champion Boss nearby as well.
That was simply not feasible.
Thus, there were two things Liam had to take care of as quickly as possible.
One of the two things was the Skullthrone. It had to be destroyed to make sure that he and the natives were able to fight with their full combat prowess. As for the other thing, it was the horde of other Shedim.
They were the smallest problem but their numbers were quite annoying. It would inevitably distract Liam in the long run. Thus, they had to be taken care of as quickly as possible.
The only question in Liam's mind was how to deal with all of them at the same time before the Shedim Champion Boss would be able to disrupt him.
In theory, he had a plan in mind, but practically, it was pretty difficult to make sure that everything would go as planned.
But then again, it was not as if his plans worked out usually. He was the type of person who acted instinctively, adjusting plans according to his gut feeling and the need of the hour. And, considering that he was still alive, everything would be fine.
It had to be!
