Rebirth: Ghost Exorciser

Chapter 80 - Jumping Game

The people below were petrified as they looked at the terrifying scene in front of them with their hearts in their mouths.

Cold sweat broke out on Father Zhu and Yang Xinde’s foreheads. That was the eighth floor! It was easy to fall to your death. Why did Master Chi take things so seriously and accompany the brat to jump off a building?!

Dong Ziming was unable to make the call, and he fell to the ground instead. He didn’t have the courage to look up again, and his eyes were tightly shut for fear of seeing the terrifying scene of blood being splattered in a wide radius.

After all, no matter how powerful a Celestial Master was, they were still mortal. Even if nothing major happened if they jumped down from such a tall building, they would still get minor fractures. He really couldn’t figure out what this genuine Celestial Master was thinking. Was she trying to reform the evil spirits under the building?

Chi Shuyan was unaware of the mental gymnastics of the people below, and followed the little ghost over the edge while everyone howled in fright.

She hasn’t mastered the Imperial Flight Technique yet, but she had a basic foundation. As she fell, she could use the Imperial Flight Technique to reduce the speed of her descent, but even then, she didn’t dare take the risk. Most importantly, she had to thank Qi Zhenbai’s good fortune; the high-level Flying Shield Talisman which she drew last night came in handy. She could even leap onto roofs and vault over walls, to say nothing of jumping from a building.

“Chi… Master Chi, you’re fine!” Yang Xinde looked in wonder at Chi Shuyan, who landed safely on the ground in front of him unharmed. He forgot to close his half-open mouth for a long while, his expression incredulous.

Dong Ziming’s closed eyes snapped open. He didn’t see the scene he had imagined, and instead was utterly shocked when he saw that the person had landed safely. Where the hell did his boss find such a Master? This was too godly. He himself didn’t realize that his initial disapproval and contempt had disappeared under dazzling adoration and awe.

Father Zhu and Zhu Bocheng were just as surprised as Yang Xinde. Chi Shuyan’s actions and the results were really too unexpected, which refreshed their understanding of Chi Shuyan’s exemplary abilities. For a moment, they were filled with mixed emotions. Father Zhu was especially regretful as he watched Chi Shuyan go back up to the eighth floor. Why wasn’t she his daughter-in-law?

However, Father Zhu glanced at the eager and worshipful look on his son’s dumb face, and averted his eyes. It would be strange if his son could woo Master Chi like this. Out of the corner of his eyes, he inadvertently glanced at Qi Zhenbai, who stood tall and upright beside him. Compared with his son’s admiring gaze, Qi Zhenbai’s face was calm and composed, as if he wouldn’t feel anything even if the sky collapsed. Only the pair of sharp, majestic phoenix eyes which stared straight at Chi Shuyan like a falcon revealed traces of concern.

Father Zhu was stumped for a moment. This was the first time he had ever seen Young Master Qi, who had always been dignified and indifferent, really care so much for someone.

“Here they come, here they come again!” Zhu Bocheng said excitedly when he saw that Chi Shuyan was about to jump down again.

The rest of them didn’t need Zhu Bocheng’s reminder, their gazes long fixed on the woman and the ghost on the roof.

“Brother Zhu, are you saying that genuine Celestial Masters can casually jump down from such a tall building and remain perfectly fine?” Even though Yang Xinde saw it with his own eyes, he still felt incredulous, as if he was deep in some dream. He was amazed and doubtful at the same time. “Then wouldn’t they really be immortal? Jumping onto roofs and walls would just be a piece of cake.”

“I don’t think so. I’ve never even heard of it, let alone see it.” Father Zhu felt from the bottom of his heart that Chi Shuyan’s techniques were outstanding for her age, and far beyond compare. “I did tell you last time that it was thanks to Master Chi’s talismans that my son, Bocheng, and my wife were able to evade danger. I’ve never seen a Celestial Master’s talisman as useful as Master Chi’s.”

“Then it seems that Master Chi is still a top figure, to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with those seniors with profound cultivation at such a young age.” Yang Xinde’s eyes glowed as the abacus in his heart clattered, and he sighed. Once again, he was haunted by his previous rudeness and was afraid that he hadn’t given Master Chi a good impression. At the same time, he rejoiced that he hadn’t completely offended Master Chi, and still had a chance to redeem himself. He asked respectfully and modestly, “Brother Zhu, how about I set up something later and treat the Master to a meal?”

How could Father Zhu not see through the thoughts of this miserly profiteer, Yang Xinde? He could tell that the other man was going to talk a bunch of crap, possibly because he wanted to buy more talismans and magic weapons from Chi Shuyan.

Thus, the more he smiled unfathomably and said nothing, the more he spat in his heart. He himself hadn’t yet asked Master Chi for more life-saving talismans. They were so precious and rare; how could he let Yang Xinde get the upper hand?

Father Zhu was pretty close to the mark. Yang Xinde naturally coveted the effective Protective Talismans on Chi Shuyan. Even if he had to shell out a fortune to buy them all, he would be happy. On top of befriending a Master, he would also ask about preventing others from borrowing his luck. This incident made his heart quake. What this businessman valued was his wealth and luck; what if some dimwit took notice of him? Yang Xinde’s expression changed repeatedly, and he hardened his resolve to curry favor even if it was utterly shameless.

“But it’s strange. Why is Master Chi still jumping off the building with this brat?”

“Only resort to force when all else fails to lure the snake out of its hole.” A cold indifferent male voice rang out.

Yang Xinde was a little stunned and flattered as he looked at Qi Zhenbai next to him. He hadn’t expected Young Master Qi to be willing to talk to him, but he had probably done so for that Master Chi’s sake.

Yang Xinde’s eyes flashed. Young Master Qi must have a close relationship with Master Chi.

None of the people present were stupid. Hearing Qi Zhenbai’s words, they immediately understood Chi Shuyan’s intentions. Master Chi wanted to send these malicious ghosts off to be reincarnated, but if she used forceful means, they would definitely react badly. In addition, if the little ghost was slow to return, the old ghosts hiding in the array formation would definitely be worried and come out to take a look.

“How long are they going to jump for?” Father Zhu asked. He looked up and down until his eyes blurred. It had to be more than ten times already.

Yang Xinde was also numb from watching. He was thinking in his heart it was a good thing they had gotten everyone else to disperse. Otherwise, Master Chi would definitely be misunderstood. A Master was indeed a Master. The way she played games was different from ordinary people.

“It should be soon. It looks like Sister Shuyan is also starting to get tired of playing,” Zhu Bocheng answered.

Father Zhu and Yang Xinde: “…”
