Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 97 - Getting To Know Each Other

"I never really had any free time and there were no friends to play with"

Hearing this, Aimy and Olivia were taken aback. They looked at him with a confused expression, before a trace of pity replaced their confusion.

Olivia was rather blunt and straightforwardly blurted out

"How can that be?! Having no friends is still understandable for some youths, but how can you have no free time? You are our age or at most a few months older?! What did you do before your System awakening?!"

Olivia's blunt personality was somewhat refreshing but Shane's lips still twitched, because the question was rather personal, which included his childhood.

Pondering if or what he should answer, Shane thought about it for some time while Aimy decided to interrupt Olivia's bombardment of questions, and reprimanded her.

"Olivia! Don't ask just anyone about their personal life! How often do I have to tell you that?!" Averting her attention to Shane who was still standing next to her she said.

"I'm sorry about my friend, her personality is rather straightforward and she doesn't know when to stop!"

He had already realized this so he nodded his head, he already got to know this, as he said with a small smile.

"That's no problem, and I don't think it's a bad trait, because she will at least remain honest, right?"

"Can you see this Aimy!! My bluntness is not a bad trait!! Hahaha!" Olivia exclaimed in an exaggerated manner, as Shane started to chuckle lightly.

"To answer your question, I only want to say that I didn't really have any freedom because I was occupied with other things. That's why I was so interested in the game you played. [Ceroa's rise] was it? If it's not uncomfortable for the two of you, can I stay here and watch the game?"

Shane felt uncomfortable to ask them, but over the last month, there hadn't been a single day, when he was truly able to recuperate from his exhaustion.

The few hours he slept every day were nothing praiseworthy because he was accustomed to sleeping only a few hours, even before he entered the Primordial Dimensions.

He wanted to watch the game that looked extremely interesting.

Furthermore, it was the first time for him to get to know other youths his age without them trying to sugarcoat their words. He had only been outside the mansion at certain important events held by the nobles and the military.

Without having to bother about their background, Shane felt overly comfortable around the two girls. They found him to be honest, hence Olivia immediately accepted his request, though Aimy didn't say anything.

In the end, Aimy felt that Shane seemed to be different than every youth she had ever known, but she was unsure if it was a good or a bad sign.

Nevertheless, Olivia moved one seat further to make some space for Shane, who thanked her before sitting down.

While Aimy was still eying him, Olivia started to continue playing her character, who seemed to be a close combat fighter who fought with gloves.

"Is that a pugilist?" He asked, not minding Aimy at all, as Olivia proudly announced

"Yes, you noticed that? This is the character I normally use to practice my combat techniques. I'm a pugilist you know!"

Shane only nodded his head in response. He wasn't sure how intelligent it was to tell a complete stranger what one's occupation was, causing him to smile weirdly, as Aimy shook her head.

Looking at Aimy, he chuckled lightly, because he could perfectly understand how she felt. He had barely met Olivia a few minutes ago.

Her honesty was a little bit over the top.

Apparently, Aimy didn't want to play games anymore. Shane thought that it might be because he sat in front of her making her uncomfortable when she suddenly asked.

"Shane was your name, right? How old are you?"

Normally, such a question was used in order to get to know each other slightly better on a personal basis. However, the question had gotten a new undertone to it since the appearance of the Primordial Dimensions which included the system.

Asking someone how old they were was now more used in order to figure out the opposite party's background, talent, the period they had spent within the Primordial Dimension, rough strength, and so on.

This was even more so, for youths aged 16 to 25.

If one was still in the Basic Dimension at the age of 25, they were either labeled as trash. If their goal was to increase their purity to an essentially high percentage, they might even be labeled as average prodigies.

Meanwhile, someone entering the Intermediate Dimension at the age of 20 with a high mana purity was considered an above-average prodigy.

However, for most youths, the first year within the Primordial Dimension was the most important factor to figure out the opposite determination, strength, background, and so on.

If one had spent barely 6 months within the Primordial DImension with a mana purity of above 40%, he/she was already considered as someone with an above-average background, relatively high diligence, and high strength, even if that was not necessarily the whole truth.

With Aimy asking him how old he was, she wanted to passively dig into his background.

However, Shane didn't have to hide anything at all, as he said

"I'm 16 years old and entered the Primordial Dimension roughly 40 days ago, which is most likely what you want to know, am I right?"

Chuckling lightly, he added

"You already scanned my mana fluctuations, and should know that my cultivation stage is merely the 10th Mortal stage, while my physique is barely at the 8th Mortal stage."

Instead of hiding anything, he revealed everything in one go in order to earn Aimy's trust to a certain degree. But as he looked at her expression she still seemed to be suspicious about him, as she said.

"You're younger than I expected, but your equipment is pretty good, considering that you are only at the Mortal stage."

Hearing this, Shane continued to smile, as he leaned forward, approaching Aimy, as he said teasingly.

"Are you interrogating me? How about you tell me something about yourself?" He put on his most beautiful smile, as taught by his etiquette teacher when he was young.

Aimy suddenly blushed and put some distance between herself and Shane, not knowing what to say.

Satisfied with her reaction, he leaned back once again, only to hear Olivia chuckling next to him.

"Hehe Sis Aimy, he got you!! If you won't tell him something I will...and you know that I can hardly hold back once I start speaking...maybe I'l accidentally reveal your three sizes...hehehe"

Olivia stopped playing on the holographic screen, teasingly looking at Aimy, as she began to laugh out.

"YOU!!!" Aimy exclaimed and she was about to manifest an icicle in order to throw it at Olivia when she noticed that they were still on the train.

Sighing, she had to calm down, as she involuntarily started an introduction with a sigh

"Aimy Ash, 16 years and 5 months old...Expert stage in both cultivation and physique."

It was a short introduction but roughly explained her background and strength, even if she didn't explicitly share her rank within the Expert stage.

Aimy had barely finished her introduction when Olivia suddenly shouted out

"Olivia Berg, 16 years and 7 months old Mana purity of 44%, 5th rank Expert cultivation and 7th Expert physique!! 0-Star Pugilist apprentice!"

Hearing Olivia's introduction, Shane didn't know whether he should be astonished about her background, naivety, or honesty. She had shared everything important to figure out who exactly she was without hiding anything at all.

Aimy facepalmed herself, not knowing what to do with her best friend, as Shane smiled lightly at her, and mumbled.

"At least she didn't tell me what quality her occupation has."

She was still suspicious about Shane, even more so after figuring out that he was only at the Mortal stage, after having spent more than a month in the Primordial Dimension. His equipment was probably worth much more than all the cultivation resources required to enter the 1st Expert rank.

However, seeing him be friendly and casual for the remaining several minutes, she slowly let her guard down.

"Yeah, you're right," She said, smiling faintly.

"Olivia, let's continue playing!" Aimy said, subconsciously glancing at Shane who directed his gaze back to Olivia's holographic screen. In the game, her pugilist character had now appeared on barren land.

Hours passed slowly and the two girls continued to play their game, while Shane watched them, only for him to grow tired, as his eyes involuntarily closed.
