Primordial Dimensions
Chapter 411 - Change
While a new chapter for Megane's life had already started, Shane was unaware of anything that had happened to her, or who she had met.
He had plenty of work to keep him occupied and barely thought about Megane, solely fearing a lone thought of being attacked by the manipulated Halfling, who was anything but normal.
Even if he had more time, his thoughts would be about something else than bothering about Megane as he assumed that they would never meet again, either way.
How could Shane know that this was not only not the case, but that his and the halfling's fate were far more connected and bound to each other than any of the two could have ever imagined?
They might only be strangers, but both were considered as the strongest prodigies that had ever existed within the Primordial dimensions.
Nobody knew the exact time that the Primordial dimensions had come into existence, but it was evident that there had been a reason to manifest them, at a certain time, and with a defined goal.
Since Shane had focused on creating his perfect mana purity, many things had happened, but the most important were two kinds of news he heard from Talia.
She always sent him a report about the monthly profits the Astral Starlight faction obtained, how much goods they had procured considering the possibility of the Primordial dimensions and the system to suddenly stop existing, and how the situation on PrimWeb looked like.
Furthermore, Talia also informed him about the ties the government wanted to establish with certain races that had shelters across multiple planets and vast resources.
John Stella was of the opinion that it was crucial to establish a distinct relationship with more races instead of solely making business agreements just for the sake of it.
This was because the situation within the Primordial dimensions was becoming more and more dangerous!
Not only did it look like the dimensions' borders were becoming weaker with every passing day, but there had already been a few Primordial dimensions that had vanished!!
They had just ceased to exist, and one of those Primordial dimensions had a human shelter on it!
Astonishingly enough, the citizens living inside said shelter did not vanish with the Primordial dimension, but they were forcefully drawn out of the dimension, returning to Igra.
Because of that, the population on Igra was slowly increasing once again as everyone assumed that even more Primordial dimensions would follow suit.
This was exactly what Shane had told everyone, but only now did the vast majority start believing him.
Shane found this hypocritical, but he didn't really bother about anyone who was not close to him.
As long as nobody obstructed him in his plans, they could do whatever they wanted.
Unfortunately, this was what most citizens did do because it was exactly those citizens who had always been protected and pampered by the government and their safety promises that caused the most trouble!
As such, those who had relied on the higher-ups had begun to riot, retaliating against everything the government wanted to do to become independent of the system and Primordial dimensions.
Shane had even heard from Talia that some citizens dared to announce that they would betray humanity if they couldn't stop the Primordial dimensions from ceasing to exist.
Initially, Shane had wanted to laugh at this comment, but Talia had been serious, indicating to him that this was the bitter truth and that there were multiple citizens who were of the same opinion.
This may have been an extremely bad case on how citizens behaved, but it also showed what greed, selfishness, and ignorance could do to humans.
The fear of the unknown was greater than everything, intensifying the bad characteristics within one, and those traits were slowly coming to the forefront within mankind.
Unsurprisingly, there were multiple races like that and only a few were able to take control over their population as the dangers and uncomfortable times coming towards them could avoid mass panic.
After living side by side with the Primordial dimensions for more than 200 years, the human race had become heavily reliant on their resources that allowed them to cultivate and become stronger.
Without the Primordial dimensions let alone the system, mankind would have nothing left as they were not even able to use spaceships yet!
There were certain prototypes of spaceships, but certain things couldn't be purchased through the Primordial shop, which made it extremely difficult for mankind to inhabit other planets.
Additionally, civilizing other planets had never been mankind's main goal as they had the Primordial dimensions and more than enough land to live on.
That had been the case before, and now the lands were slowly decreasing as the Primordial dimensions vanished with time.
Before all of them would vanish, quite some time would have to pass, but neither did anyone know how long this would take nor be living on Igra safe for mankind anymore.
This was the case because nobody knew whether the Dark Ice elves had gone insane or not.
Apparently, the Dark Ice elves, and the advanced race, called Eclipse thunder devils, that had supported them had gone on a rampage, destroying the surrounding planets that belonged to other races.
Shane was not sure what was going on with those races, but the basic races that had offended them in any way were attacked the moment their coordinates outside the Primordial dimensions had been found out.
Their aggressive behavior astonished many races, and it almost looked like they were on a mission to compensate for something bad that had happened, soothing their anger by killing and eradicating other races.
As if that was not bad enough, there were more than enough humans that had been manipulated by certain races to reveal Igra's coordinates, intensifying mankind's fear towards the unknown, and anger towards the government.
In the end, the government was powerless against anything that happened right now because the human race was simply too young, their strength insufficient to be even remotely able to retaliate against any kind of basic race.
Their future had been promising with the number of shelters they had conquered during the last two centuries but that was already everything as the mana awakened planet Igra would be the only thing that was likely to stay unaffected even after the Primordial dimensions and system were to vanish.
It was terrific, but Shane understood that the government was trying to figure out other solutions instead of wasting their time on the Primordial dimensions, or even Igra, whose coordinates were likely to be exposed.
The system's flaws were becoming more apparent with the number of steadily increasing malfunctions.
As such, the government couldn't rely on the system's protection mechanism that prevented others from revealing Igra's coordinates!
Shane had been informed about certain plans the government had formulated, but most of them forced mankind to conquer other planets to stay alive, or to do other things, just to leave Igra.
Another plan was to send everyone who was willing to live inside the Hidden Paradise and only send Shane to a different planet that was not fully conquered yet.
A single individual wouldn't attract too much attention, and mankind might have the time to slowly build up their strength within Shane's soul bound world.
However, this was something that was, even more, riskier than the first task as Shane's death would be equal to the death of everyone inside the Hidden Paradise.
Furthermore, Shane doubted that most citizens would dare to leave Igra, just because a few people were threatening mankind with revealing their planet's coordinates, let alone to enter the Hidden Paradise which was equal to putting their lives in Shane's hands!
This was something Shane didn't want as well, but he could tell that the dangers looming around them were riskier than anything he was able to imagine.
The hard times hadn't even arrived, and the human race's population had already split up, seemingly about to start a civil war in order to decide their future.
However, was that even something the human race was able to do? Did they have the power to decide their own fate, or was it something they could only accept without being able to change anything at all?
