Primordial Dimensions
Chapter 375 - [Mythic] Tamer
A fountain of blood spurted out of the blazing rooster's severed neck before its flames slowly receded, leaving behind a naked body.
Shane retracted the bloodlust-killing-intent and mana he had utilized to increase his final blow's lethality.
After that, he took a deep breath. Thick droplets of sweat poured down his temples due to the drastic increase in his surrounding temperature that had been caused by the blazing rooster's flames.
Somehow, the rooster had been weaker than expected, but that was only because an unforeseen circumstance had occurred.
Nobody expected that a fight against a single opponent would turn into a three versus battle one out of a sudden.
As such, the sudden appearance of Umbra had probably been such a shocking event that the blazing rooster had probably forgotten about Shane's existence for a short moment.
At least, that was what Shane assumed to have happened.
Even if the blazing rooster had noticed him, being attacked from two sides, a beast that was only slightly weaker than an Overlord beast on one side, and someone who was even stronger than an Overlord beast on the other side would have ended badly.
Shane didn't really care about creating a magnificent spectacle, but he loved to fight strong opponents. Unfortunately, the blazing rooster was not what he was looking for.
He would have loved to use his entire strength, but Shane was also aware that revealing everything would injure him.
This was something he had to prevent as long as possible.
What he didn't want to prevent, however, was something he was looking forward to!
Not only was he eager to fight stronger opponents, but Shane knew that he was still not strong enough which would have been a scary thought. However, Shane was anything but scared.
It was as if he was lagging behind only a tiny bit!
By quickly finishing off the blazing rooster, he had received a great opportunity. Almost everybody else was still fighting and only when the last battle was over would the break be announced.
As such, he had lots of time to replenish his mana, increase the stored mana and cultivate!
With every round that passed, time seemed to stretch longer, which caused Shane to assume that the Primordial tournament was adjusting the timer according to the possible dangers and the chance of a participant sustaining injuries.
Everyone should be able to recuperate as much as possible for the next battle, and Shane couldn't help but think that the Primordial tournament was nicer than he had assumed.
The tournament might have many casualties, but it was fair to some extent.
He was not sure how long the timer would continue to run, but it was only the second round and the break was 24 hours long!
Several days passed and Shane had lost count of the battles he had fought.
Most of the time he was cultivating because his opponents weren't as strong as Shane assumed them to be.
Each of his opponents had been distracted by the fact that Cosmo used a spatial affinity to manifest several spatial portals, while Umbra emerged out of nowhere, initiating an ambush.
Adding his own strength to his tamed beasts', it had been unnecessary to transfer a ginormous amount of mana from the soulbound world.
Instead, Shane had been able to increase the amount of mana stored inside it.
The break time was getting longer with each passing round, slowly annoying Shane and the others who came out of their fights unscathed.
Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do about it save wait.
It was only the 7th round, and the number of weaker participants was gradually dipping.
They were by no means weak, but simply not at par with the kinds of monsters that participated in the Primordial tournament.
Because of that, Shane's heart filled with excitement despite the annoying long breaks he had to endure.
Using the breaks to cultivate was also important because he had yet to reach a mana purity of 90%!
It was said that this threshold made a huge impact. Progressing from a mana purity of 89.9% to 90% may look like an insignificant change but it was worlds apart, enhancing one's combat prowess greatly.
Shane had yet to attain this achievement, but he was quick in purifying the mana the Hidden Paradise was greedily absorbing!
Time seemed to pass slowly yet swiftly at the same time causing Shane to feel like they were in a Primordial dimension with a distorted time zone.
He was not sure what was going on but everything felt weird to him.
Another week passed, and the 13th round had finally been concluded.
Shane was exhausted beyond measure and drained of every single ounce of mana inside his body.
The opponent he had fought just now was someone he had never hoped to encounter; a Tamer!!
Even though Shane was not sure what race his opponent had belonged to, it was not difficult to perceive that he had been a tamer, and one of the strongest he had ever seen in his life.
When both sides had figured out that the other one was a tamer or a soon-to-be-tamer, they had talked for a minute.
In that minute, Shane had figured out that his opponent had a [Diamond] taming occupation, and a [Tier-2 (Mythic)] taming skill!!
This was shocking, but even more so was the fact that his opponent had not one but four tamed beasts.
Adding to Shane's shock, every single one of them had the combat prowess of an Overlord!
Umbra had barely been strong enough to stall one Overlord, forcing Shane to fight against three beasts at the same time.
Fortunately, the being from the unknown race was not a versatile combatant, and controlling his tamed beasts seemed to be difficult enough for him.
As such, Shane had given his best to approach his true opponent. Defeating, or killing him was more than enough to advance to the second round.
Unfortunately, this was not as easy as it sounded!
Shane was forced to use his utmost efforts, and terrific amounts of mana to barely stay alive.
Enveloped by thick bloodlust-killing-intent, and dense streams of mana, he gripped the brightly glowing Invincible Scimitar tightly.
Shane had supplied it with enough mana to pierce through the strongest defense, forcing the three Overlord beasts to stay vigilant.
Unfortunately, time had been against Shane, and the mana consumption of the Invincible Scimitar was draining him of the mana he had painstakingly stored since the Primordial tournament had started.
Whether it was luck or his superior ability as a tamer, Cosmo was the only beast with a spatial affinity, who could turn the tides of the battle.
When Umbra had been using all his might to stall for more time by fighting against one of the Overlords, Cosmo and Shane had suddenly appeared above the Titan Gorilla that was taken off guard.
It had relied on the other three Overlord beasts to finish off Shane, but the Invincible Scimitar had pierced through its chest mercilessly without much resistance.
With one Overlord beast's defeat, the pressure on Shane, Umbra, and Cosmo decreased considerably, allowing them to move more freely compared to before.
However, at the same time, they were unable to use the same trick again, which was unfortunate, but something Shane could accept.
It was only then that he noticed the devastating difference between someone who had a high-quality occupation to not even having a low-quality occupation.
Shane's opponent was using several occupational skills at once, drastically increasing the Overlord beasts' combat prowess.
It would have done so earlier, but it had wanted to demonstrate to the young tamer that he should return and keep striving for more, to become as superior as he was. This had cost him the life of one of his Overlord beasts!
In the end, Shane could only use the moment in which his opponent's tamed beasts were becoming stronger to attack the second Overlord beast.
Yet, everything had already been too late, and he had been unable to kill, but only to injure one of the other beasts he had attacked.
Only a moment later, Shane stood in front of three beasts that were stronger than every opponent he had fought until now!
