Peerless Martial God 2

Chapter 669 + 670 + 671

Edited by RED

“There’s a notice in Lang Xie City! Come and see!” said someone on the main road of Lang Xie City. There was a notice. The text on that notice was extremely long. People gathered around, all of them curious. There were all sorts of people. People in Lang Xie City all had money, so they were all wearing fine clothes.

“The Young Prince of Lang Xie City was born, at birth, he had the strength of the Huang Qi layer, now, he’s ten years old and has the strength of the top of the Holy Spirit Emperor layer. He’s about to break through to the Half-Godly Emperor layer. We are looking for three people to become his teachers. Strength required: fifth Godly Emperor layer and above. The higher the better.

“Interested candidates should contact the town’s Great Leader, and he’ll give them an identity card to prove they’re one of the Young Prince’s teachers. Those who achieve the best results will become elders of Lang Xie City and receive a financial reward. Hurry up and come apply!”

When some people saw “Young Prince”, they were angry and disgusted. Most people in Lang Xie City hated the Young Prince, why would they want to become his teacher? Who would want to apply? Nobody wanted to sacrifice themselves!

“Who would want to become the Young Master’s teacher? It’d be the same as being dead,” whispered a man. He rolled up his sleeves and left the crowd. Many people walked away as well. Nobody wanted to become the Young Master’s teacher.

Two guards were guarding the notice, and when they saw that everybody was leaving, they smiled wryly. They glanced at each other and shook their heads. People were so afraid of the Young Master? Seven teachers had died… but they were stupid.

“Let’s go and tell the Leader it didn’t work,” sighed one of the guards. He wasn’t happy. Back then, a few people had applied at least, but since seven teachers had died because of the Young Master, nobody wanted to do the job anymore.

“It’s normal. The Young Prince doesn’t even obey his family members, so why would he obey teachers? Let’s go,” the other guard nodded, and they walked away.

A mysterious man wearing simple clothes appeared. He walked up to the notice and read it out loud hoarsely, “Three teachers are wanted. Interested candidates should contact the town’s Great Leader, and then he’ll give them an identity card to prove they’re one of the Young Prince’s teachers. Those who achieve the best results will become elders of Lang Xie City and receive a financial reward. Hurry up and come apply!”

That voice was so hoarse that it could make anyone shiver, even though they weren’t cold. The voice was as cold as ice.

The sound of tearing paper spread in the air. The man tore the notice off. Even though the sound wasn’t that loud, the two guards heard it and suddenly turned around. When they saw the man, they seemed delighted.

“You took the notice off the board, does it mean you want to become the Young Prince’s teacher?” asked the two guards, looking at the man, who looked like a homeless person. Even though he looked resolute and steadfast and his eyes looked sharp, swift and fierce, the two guards didn’t like his dirty clothes very much, but their task was to find teachers so it didn’t matter.

“Yes,” said the man hoarsely. He flew towards the residence of the town’s Great Leader, but he quickly came back and looked at the two guards who were astonished. “Bring me to the town’s Great Leader’s residence, I can’t find him.”

“Uhhh, alright, alright, come with me,” said the guards nodding hastily. The two men then led the way. The man followed them, looking indifferent as he held the torn piece of paper.

Many people looked at the man and were astonished. That man, who looked like a vagrant, wanted to apply for the teaching job? Did he really think he would be able to get food and a shelter like that? Did he really think he wasn’t going to get killed by the Young Prince, just like the other teachers?

Many people didn’t understand, but they didn’t dare say anything either. If anyone said anything, the guards would crush them. They had been waiting for a while, and now someone had taken the bait!

——-

The man followed the two guards, and in the end they arrived in front of the Great Leader’s residence. The entry corridor was a thousand meters long. In front of the gate, there were two demon beasts’ statues, and purple towers visible within. The man looked at the statues carefully. He was a bit surprised, because those beasts were an azure dragon and a tortoise.

Azure Dragons and Tortoises were members of the four types of godly beasts. The statues even oppressed the Qi around. The man also noticed a formation. The whole mansion was protected by it.

“Please go in, Prince,” said the two guards respectfully. They all entered the residence.

One of the guards ran ahead to go and inform the Leader. The other guard stayed with the man. They walked over a bridge, crossing a river. The man was surprised when he saw a river crossing the residence.

There were pagodas everywhere, hundreds of meters tall. The man could see that those pagodas were extraordinary. They probably all belonged to a medium-level Supreme God.

But it was nothing compared to another thread of Qi the man could sense, the Qi of a high-level Supreme God. That Qi was swift and fierce, very impressive. It was even more dangerous than threads of Qi of the high-level Supreme God layer that he had sensed in the past. This high-level Supreme God was even stronger.

“Alright, please come in.”

After a short while, the other guard came back and called the man. The man followed him into the meeting room.

The atmosphere was heavy. Nobody dared say anything in the meeting room, because a man in fine clothes was seating there. His eyebrows were sword-shaped, and his long hair hung over his shoulders. He looked ice-cold and aggressive.

Nobody dared say anything, whether young or old.

The man followed the two guards inside and stood in the middle of the meeting hall. The man glanced around; the meeting hall seemed quite simple unlike the rest of the palace.

“Great Leader, this is the man who wants to become the Young Prince’s teacher,” said the guards, kneeling down respectfully. The middle-aged man who was seated on the main throne raised his head and looked over the man from head to foot. The middle-aged man suddenly seemed confused.

“He personally took off the notice?” the man asked the guards.

The guards shuddered with fear. One of them nodded and replied hastily, “Yes, Great Leader. He took it off personally.”

“I see. You can leave now,” said the man, nodding at the two guards. When the two guards heard their master, they were relieved. They quickly said goodbye and ran out of the meeting hall. They felt oppressed when they faced their Leader.

The man remained standing in the middle of the meeting hall. A dozen people looked at him. The man raised his head and looked at the town’s great Leader indifferently.

“I need to have a shower and change clothes.”

“Alright, no problem. I’ll prepare everything for you, including good food and beverages. Then, I’ll take you to the Young Prince.”

“Yes.”

——-

Lin Feng slowly opened his eyes, coughing. Lights flashed before his eyes, and he felt dizzy. He glanced around and blinked. He was lying in a valley; more precisely, in a crevasse. He tried to sit up, but it was extremely difficult.

“Where am I? What am I doing here?”

His head hurt, but he managed to sit up. He tried to remember what had happened. The Leaders of the different Villages of San Country had chased him. The Sword of Remote Times had taken him away at an incredible speed. The wind had brushed against his skin like needles, and because he had had a fierce battle against Yan Zhen he hadn’t had enough pure Qi to resist and had fallen unconscious.

But Lin Feng remembered that when he had fallen unconscious, the Sword of Remote Times was still with him, it had controlled him, so where was it now?

“Indeed, where is the Sword of Remote Times?”

Suddenly, Lin Feng opened his eyes wide. Where was the Sword of Remote Times? He glanced around but couldn’t see it.

Lin Feng started. He quickly stood up. However, when he started to stand up, he saw an old man’s face above him. It was very clear and scary, and deathly pale, with many wrinkles. He was staring at him. Lin Feng instantly had cold sweats.

“Who are you?” shouted Lin Feng. His expression fell quickly.

Chapter 670: The Sword Ancestor’s Soul, Zu Ti!

“Who are you?” asked Lin Feng. He was startled and scared of the old man. He looked extremely dangerous.

The old man looked at Lin Feng and laughed. He looked even scarier. Lin Feng looked at him vigilantly and maintained some distance.

“I am Zu Ti!” said the old man hoarsely, smiling broadly. He reached out his hand and helped Lin Feng stand up properly, then he tossed him out of the crevasse. Lin Feng landed on the ground at the top of the crevasse and stared at the man. He was astonished.

“You’re Zu Ti? Could it be that…?” Lin Feng stared at the man, as if he understood something.

The old man nodded. His white hair swung on his shoulders. It seemed like he had less wrinkles suddenly. He looked less scary.

“I am Zu Ti, I am the Sword of Remote Times. I’m the one who helped you escape,” said the old man, grinning strangely. It gave Lin Feng the chills, so he took a few steps backwards.

“So you’re the Sword of Remote Times… You’re the sword’s spirit?” Lin Feng asked quickly.

Zu Ti shook his head and grinned mockingly. Then he looked at Lin Feng disdainfully and said, “A sword’s spirit? I’ve lived for hundreds of thousands of years, how could you compare me with a simple sword’s spirit? I am the sword ancestor’s soul.”

“Sword ancestor’s soul?” Lin Feng didn’t understand what that was.

Zu Ti studied Lin Feng as if he were facing an idiot. It was the first time he had met someone who didn’t know what a sword ancestor’s soul was. He scoffed, “You don’t know me?”

“Uhhh… Why would I?” asked Lin Feng, shaking his head. He was really confused.

The old man pulled a long face and sighed sadly, “Alright, It seems like people in the Continent of Eternity have already forgotten about me.” He lowered his head and suddenly, he looked much older. He had even more wrinkles than before, his skin looked so dry that it seemed like he was dying.

Lin Feng was surprised. Then he smiled wryly, he might be the only one in the world who didn’t know about the sword ancestor’s soul because he wasn’t from the Continent of Eternity. He didn’t want to hide the truth from the old man, so he told him everything.

“Don’t be sad, I am not from the Continent of Eternity, how could I know about you?” Lin Feng said smiling gently.

The old man was stupefied, he looked Ling Feng over for a while and asked, “Are you from a lower world?”

“Yes, from the Continent of the Nine Clouds. I recently came from the Continent of the Gods. We all call the Continent of Eternity Gods Country, so it’s normal that I don’t know you. I hope you’re not disappointed. I am sure that everybody knows about the sword ancestor’s soul in this world,” Lin Feng said to the old man, trying to cheer him up.

Suddenly, Zu Ti looked much younger again. He also looked more self-confident. A swift and fierce thread of Qi dashed to the skies. Many beasts ran away when they saw it.

“Haha! I see! I’m relieved then,” said Zu Ti, laughing wholeheartedly. He seemed satisfied. How could people in the Country of Eternity have forgotten about him? This little boy just wasn’t from around here!

“So you’re from the Continent of the Gods… I know the Continent of the Gods. A hundred thousand years ago, many people came to the Country of Eternity from the Continent of the Gods, many young geniuses and other Supreme Gods. There are people from the Continent of the Gods in every country of the Country of Eternity,” explained Zu Ti.

Lin Feng was stunned. He was curious; who were those people who had come from the Country of Gods back then? Where were they? What were they doing?

“Master, can you tell me more?” asked Lin Feng, sitting down on a boulder.

Zu Ti nodded. He was delighted to tell Lin Feng more because Lin Feng had rescued him from San Zun’s grave. Thanks to Lin Feng, he could see the sky again! He was grateful.

“A hundred thousand years ago, I was an incredible cultivator, everybody respected me, no matter how strong they were. They also all hoped I’d help them refine their weapons to make them more powerful, so many people came to me all the time.

“Back then, I met two young geniuses from the Continent of the Gods. One of them was called Dong Fei Yu, and another one was called Yun Shan Ming. When they came to the Country of Eternity, they only had the strength of the eighth Godly Emperor Layer, and finally, after dozens of years, they managed to break through to the Supreme God layer.

“But back then, I had gotten involved in a great battle between San Zun and a few other high-level Supreme Gods. In the end, I was sealed in San Zun’s grave. Sigh…”

Zu Ti seemed nostalgic as he recalled the good old times. He would never forget that horrible moment when he had been imprisoned in that grave. San Country had lost ninety percent of its territory. People who had collaborated with San Zun had all been killed, or first severely injured and then died because of their injuries. Zu Ti had just been sealed because he was extremely strong and had lots of Qi.

That way, the sword ancestor’s soul had become a sword. That sword’s name was the Sword of Remote Times, nicknamed the ancestor of all swords. Now he could finally see sunlight again.

When Lin Feng heard that, he was stupefied. Yun Shan Ming and Dong Fei Yu hadn’t died? They had come to Gods Country? That meant that apart from Tian Mian, the three extremely strong cultivators of the Continent of the Gods had all gathered in Gods’ Country?

Lin Feng excluded Xuan Yuan, but not Mo Mian; where had he gone? Would Lin Feng bump into him? However, knowing that Dong Fei Yu and Yun Shan Ming were in Gods Country was a real surprise, and Lin Feng was excited. Things were getting interesting!

He remembered the first time he had heard their names, he dreamt of surpassing them. Now, he had already caught up with them!

Lin Feng looked resolute and confident. He had escaped from death again. He needed to continue becoming stronger, and broaden his horizons.

“Master, apart from them, are there other people from the Continent of the Gods?” asked Lin Feng.

The old man looked pensive. After a long time, he shook his head. He didn’t remember any other strong cultivators from the Continent of the Gods.

“No, only those two,” said the old man, shaking his head firmly.

Lin Feng nodded.

“Little boy, what do you think of me, the sword ancestor’s soul? Not bad, huh?” asked the old man. Lin Feng looked at him strangely.

The old man laughed wholeheartedly, “Haha! What I mean is, since I turned into the Sword of Remote Times, don’t you think I’m explosively powerful?”

“Yes, you managed to compete with Yan Zhen. I admire you,” Lin Feng approved. The Sword of Remote Times was indeed extremely powerful. Lin Feng was happy to be able to rely on him. Zu Ti could oppose a high-level Supreme God, after all. He had even injured him! Lin Feng couldn’t imagine how a medium-level Supreme God had managed to do that…

The old man smiled and said confidently, “Haha, of course. I would be ridiculous otherwise. I am the sword ancestor’s soul, after all.

“Back in the days, everybody admired me. Medium-level and high-level Supreme Gods all admired me. Everybody admired me. Nobody dared offend me, because they were afraid I would burst into anger and crush them. Haha! I feel so ridiculous now.

“Back then, I had no problem. After I met San Zun, everything changed, and then I was sealed in his grave. If you hadn’t rescued me, I might have been stuck in there forever.

“How could the sword ancestor’s soul be sealed in there, under the ground?? Argh, what a humiliation!” said Zu Ti.

Lin Feng listened patiently because this man was legendary, and his stories were interesting.

———-

Zu Ti told him stories for three hours. The sun started setting, and it grew dark outside. At that moment, Zu Ti stopped talking. Lin Feng knew almost everything about him by then.

Chapter 671: Lang Xie City!

Edited by RED

“So, what are your plans, Master?” Lin Feng asked Zu Ti sternly, frowning.

“What could I do? You used the Sword of Remote Times, I have to follow you. Who else would I follow otherwise?” said the old man impatiently.

Lin Feng smiled. That’s exactly what he wanted to hear. He was ninety-nine percent sure the old man would say that before he asked that question, but he wanted the old man to say it himself.

“Are you laughing up your sleeves? With me, you needn’t fear anyone. Only high-level Supreme Gods can pose a threat to you,” said the old man impatiently. He knew what Lin Feng was thinking.

“You must be joking, Master. It is an immense and extraordinary honor for me to have the Sword Ancestor’s soul on my side,” Lin Feng said, shaking his head modestly. He didn’t want to show he was overjoyed.

“What rubbish!” said the old man waving. He didn’t believe Lin Feng was being honest, so he ignored Lin Feng and turned into the Sword of Remote Times again. Lin Feng attached the sword to his back.

Lin Feng stood up and looked at the dark sky. There were many mountains all around. He couldn’t see much from here, so he had no choice but to rise high up in the sky and then leave those mountains.

Lin Feng glanced around. There were mountains everywhere, some small and some huge. Even though it was dark, he could see a lush green vegetation in the distance. Trees swung in the wind. The wind was strong and loud in the mountains. Lin Feng could also hear beasts roaring in the distance. Being in the mountains at night could be dangerous sometimes.

Lin Feng wasn’t too scared, though. When he heard those beasts roar furiously, he couldn’t help but think of the primal chaos beast Yan Zhen had captured. The primal chaos beast had sacrificed himself to protect him. Yan Zhen wasn’t trustworthy, lying to kidnap the primal chaos beast. How could Lin Feng save him now?

“Buddy, even though we haven’t known each other for a long time, I will definitely come back to save you. I will never forget your kindness and loyalty,” Lin Feng said resolutely. He would never be able to rest in peace if he didn’t save the primal chaos beast.

“Hey, Lin Feng, are you blaming me for not helping you rescue the primal chaos beast?” said the Sword of Remote Times hoarsely, suddenly shaking on Lin Feng’s back.

Lin Feng shook his head and smiled, “How could I? You did that to save me, Master, I would never blame you for that. Don’t worry.”

“Alright. If I had saved the primal chaos beast, you would be dead now.”

“I will always remember your kindness, Master,” Lin Feng replied with a nod.

“Alright then,” said the old man. Then his Qi disappeared and he stopped talking.

Lin Feng touched the Sword of Remote Times on his back and gazed into the distance. He started releasing strength to fly. He saw a mountain range he wanted to reach before sunrise.

——

Lang Xie City, Great Leader’s residence, Young Prince’s mansion house…

A man in black clothes was seated on a throne. He had his feet on a ten-year-old boy. The boy was struggling to get away, but he wasn’t strong enough. He couldn’t stand up, he was lying down under the man’s feet, and looked extremely annoyed.

“I’ve heard that you killed all your teachers? Did that happen?” asked the middle-aged man indifferently. He brought his cup of tea to his lips and sipped it slowly, ignoring the struggling boy under his feet.

The Young Prince was extremely pale, his eyes were filled with murder. He roared in outrage, “I will kill you! I will kill you! ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” His voice hadn’t broken yet, so he still sounded like a girl. His voice was screechy and loud. The man seemed completely indifferent, though.

“You don’t respect teachers, I’ll add a thousand jin force, then,” said the middle-aged man indifferently. He pressed even harder on the young boy’s body, his Qi becoming a thousand jin heavier. The boy groaned with pain, his face growing paler and paler. He had the impression he was being crushed by a mountain, he was out of breath.

“I want to stand up! My father will kill you! He will definitely kill you!” shouted the boy furiously, clenching his fists.

“You’re threatening a teacher? You don’t know what it means to be a good disciple, do you? I’ll add three thousand jin of strength, then.”

Crack! The man continued releasing more Qi. A crackling sound spread out as the floor of the room began to buckle. The boy was pushed down into the floor. His face was deathly pale and his Qi weakened.

The boy wanted to say something, but he kept quiet. He didn’t dare say anything anymore, otherwise, the man would add even more strength. The little boy was already in pain. Where had his father found such a teacher? He was so different from his previous instructors…

His previous teachers had never dared touch him. He had always humiliated them and then killed them in the end, then he had found new teachers. His new teacher was even crueler than he was!

Suddenly, he smelled death Qi. If he continued disobeying, he might die!

He was afraid. Finally, the young prince understood what fear was. He didn’t dare say anything else. The man grinned in satisfaction.

“The lesson is over. We’ll continue tomorrow. Leave now,” said the middle-aged man, raising his feet and letting the boy stand up. In the blink of an eye, the middle-aged man disappeared from his throne. The boy only heard the door slam behind him.

The boy put his hand on his chest. He felt humiliated. He had never felt humiliated like this. He was the Young Prince of Lang Xie City, and someone dared humiliate him like that? That scumbag of a teacher did!

“Hmph! I will find a teacher who will make you suffer, he will crush your muscles and drink your blood! AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” shouted the young boy. If he had been strong enough, he would have killed this teacher on the spot. Then he would have looked for a new one for some more fun. With this teacher, he couldn’t have fun!

“Wait until we find you a second teacher,” said an indifferent voice from outside. The boy was so terrified that he became even paler. He quickly stopped talking and ran away from the courtyard as quickly as he could. Then he remembered it was his own residence…

————

The next day, early in the morning…

The sun rose in the east. It was a bit cloudy. Time passed, the clouds disappeared and the sun appeared high up in the sky. It felt warm.

Lin Feng had traveled all night before arriving in Lang Xie City. The city was spread over six thousand li. There were buildings everywhere, densely packed. Lin Feng was stupefied.

He had never seen such a city, he wouldn’t even describe such a place as a city. It was as big as country. Lang Xie City was five times bigger than San Country!

“Lang Xie City is one of the Four Great Cities of the Continent of Eternity. It isn’t extremely powerful, but it is definitely more powerful than San Country. There are three high-level Supreme Gods in Lang Xie City… well, at least that’s how it was back in the days. A hundred thousand years have passed, so many things have probably changed.

“Lang Xie City is divided into East Lang Xie and West Lang Xie. The central axis is the demarcation line. They administer their affairs regardless of overall interests and the way they want, but when they face an external enemy, then they collaborate.

“The reason why they are divided is actually for the well-being of everybody; everybody can progress much faster on the path of cultivation like that, because there’s a fierce competition going on between both sides, so everybody always feels motivated. They always want to surpass one another.

“Every year, they organize a competition between both sides. Some referees log everything into a journal as a proof. That’s Lang Xie City.”

Lin Feng hadn’t even landed on the ground, yet the Sword of Remote Times had explained everything to Lin Feng, telling him everything he knew.

When Lin Feng heard that, he nodded. It was always good to gain knowledge about places he went. He landed on the ground and entered the city according to the rules.

Lang Xie City didn’t have many rules. The only clear rule was that outsiders couldn’t come into the city by air. That was considered a provocation for all the heroes and geniuses of the city. If anyone dared try, the heroes usually chased them and killed them. Of course, Lin Feng didn’t act recklessly and respected the rules.

The guards of Lang Xie City didn’t bully the weak or fear the strong. They were fair. No matter who came, they just interrogated and examined them to decide whether they could enter the city or not. They were fair, but strict.

Lin Feng immediately noticed San Country and this city were completely different. No wonder San Country was becoming weaker and weaker. They didn’t stand a chance to progress. San Country was already small, and it wasn’t because strong people bullied them, it was because the people of San Country weren’t motivated to progress.

After a simple interrogation and examination, Lin Feng entered Lang Xie City.

After walking for a dozen li in town, Lin Feng already appreciated how majestic and sumptuous the city was. The main road was hundreds of meters wide. Even with hundreds of people on the road, one didn’t feel crowded at all, there was more than enough space. There were also many beautiful and majestic wains. The people seemed educated, respectful, and civilized. Nobody acted indecently on the street.

“As expected, Lang Xie City hasn’t changed at all,” the Sword of Remote Times said nostalgically. Lang Xie City hadn’t changed since the last time he had been there a hundred thousand years ago!
