The river was not long. The water was clear, with gleaming reflections on its surface. There were also quite a number of branches and flower petals floating on the water, producing a soothing fragrance.

Qin Nan withdrew his aura and approached the river silently. He could see several beasts following the current of the river motionlessly.

Whoosh!

Qin Nan suddenly made his move, like an erupting king of beasts. He launched the branch in his hand into the river at lightning speed.

Whoosh!

The beasts were startled. They immediately fled for their lives, splashing the water everywhere.

A pool of blood slowly spread in the water. Qin Nan reached forward and dragged three giant fish with glowing scales and eyes like pearls out from the water.

"These should be enough."

Qin Nan murmured and proceeded to find a few branches around the place to make a bonfire.

"I should remove the scales first."

Qin Nan thought. He used the tree branch as a saber and cleaned the scales.

He then discovered the fish did not smell nice at all, thus he went to find some flower petals and smashed them into liquid and sprinkled it onto the fish.

"The next step should be seasoning...forget it, let's cook them first."

Qin Nan was starving. He no longer cared about the taste. He ignited the fire, set up a stand and placed the fish on it.

The fire burned slowly. The meat of the fish was cooked starting from the outer layer. A pleasant aroma lingered in the air.

Qin Nan looked in the other way while cooking the fish.

Empress Feiyue was cold as usual. She was walking back and forth on the patch of grass.

Several purple-golden runes would appear whenever she took a step.

However, the runes were extremely dim.

It was obvious that the energy inside her body was insufficient to support the execution of the formation after she was injured.

Qin Nan withdrew his gaze and focused on cooking the fish.

The two did not speak, as if they were ignoring one another's existence.

The only sound left in the valley was the crackling of the fire.

Time gradually passed. The aroma grew stronger and lingered further. Even the beasts in the valley subconsciously poked their heads out.

On the flame, the meat of the fish looked extremely juicy. The color had turned from snowy-white to an alluring golden-yellow.

The beasts gulped down their saliva.

They would have attacked the young man to steal his food if it weren't for his dangerous aura.

"It seems like I'm quite talented at this."

Qin Nan's mouth was filled with saliva too. He impatiently took a fish from the stand.

He was about to take a bite when he recalled something. After a slight hesitation, he said, "Copper mirror, come and have some. We are just ordinary humans now, and we're injured too..."

He was initially planning to ignore the copper mirror, yet he figured there was no reason for that.

"Childish."

Empress Feiyue did not even turn around.

She had never touched any food since she embarked on the path of cultivation.

Even when the peerless rulers in the Nine Heavens Immortal Realm prepared feasts specifically for her, none of the immortal dishes had caught her attention, let alone some simple grilled fish.

In her eyes, it was a waste of time to satisfy their hunger.

That being said, she did feel the hunger since she was an ordinary human now, yet it was unable to influence her will even the slightest.

"You..."

Qin Nan was left speechless once again. He proceeded to ignore her and took a bite on the fish.

The meat of the fish was tender, yet it instantly dissolved in his mouth with a pleasant taste. Qin Nan felt an indescribable satisfaction. He quickly took another bite.

He soon got rid of two of the fish and satisfied his hunger. His energy also recovered significantly.

"I never thought such ordinary food would taste so good."

Qin Nan exclaimed in his heart. He was soon overwhelmed by fatigue. He lied down on the ground and fell asleep.

Empress Feiyue's blue robe was drifting in the wind as she continued to walk back and forth.

A while later, the place was covered in purple-golden runes. An ancient formation finally revealed its true appearance.

Empress Feiyue frowned.

She did not have enough energy to activate the formation since she was injured.

On top of that, she currently had the flesh of an ordinary human. She was unable to absorb Qi, or refine herbs to recover her energy.

It would take her at least a month to fully recover at this rate.

"A month is too long, I must complete it within five days..."

Empress Feiyue glanced around the valley.

Her only option was to see if there was any artifact or herb that she could rely on to help her recover.

Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of the fish on the fire.

An immortal art suddenly appeared in her mind.

The art was invented by an Earth Immortal, which was used to refine the immortal intent and force of immortal beasts by eating them.

Even though the fish was only a third-layer Body-Tempering Realm beast, it did possess a certain amount of Qi. She could absorb its Qi by using the art.

With the help of the Qi, she would be able to recover from her injuries earlier.

Empress Feiyue stood still in her spot. After a while, she glanced at Qin Nan who was fast asleep and slowly walked forward.

Even though the fish was slightly overcooked, its aroma had grown stronger.

She frowned slightly, before executing the Immortal Art and took a small bite.

Her blue eyes glittered as soon as the meat entered her mouth.

The taste...

It isn't bad...

"It's all for the sake of absorbing its Qi."

She mumbled to herself and continued to eat the fish in front of the fire.

(Grumble).

The beasts watching the two humans subconsciously swallowed mouthfuls of saliva again.

If the peerless rulers of the Nine Heavens Immortal Realm saw this, they would be utterly astounded.

Qin Nan sensed something amid his sleep. He slowly opened his eyes.

He immediately came to his senses when he saw a glamorous woman like an ice statue eating a fish.

"Didn't you call me childish? Why are you eating it now?"

Qin Nan was feeling both angry and amused.

He finally realized that the copper mirror was only acting tough. She was reluctant to share her thoughts.

Empress Feiyue's figure stiffened.

Wasn't he fast asleep? Why would he wake up all of a sudden?

"You've mistaken," she said with an expressionless face, "There's a Martial Art that can help me to recover my energy faster by eating the beast. Here, I'll teach you too."

She flicked her finger and fired a glow into Qin Nan's mind.

"Such a unique art."

The art immediately caught Qin Nan's attention. His eyes flickered with astonishment.

However, Qin Nan did not see Empress Feiyue letting out a relieved sigh.

"There's some left."

Empress Feiyue looked at the meat with an alluring gloss. She glanced at Qin Nan who was focusing on the Immortal Art, before taking another bite at the meat.
