"Is this it...?" Gray asked with a confused tone.

His eyes traced through the ground, beneath him was a settlement containing countless people.

With X-Ray he could choose whether or not he would be staring at organic or non-organic beings. Splitting them up made it easier to decipher just what exactly he was looking at.

Things were going great, he just went to the area where he both saw and sensed the most flow of people. The only problem was...

"There's too many people..." He muttered as he winced.

The thought of having to deal with all the congestion in case something which annoyed him. Even after all those level ups, he still considered it a risk to fight in a congested zone.

Especially if the virus broke out and he got bit.

Gray had no idea whether or not he was immune to the virus, and he had no plans on finding out any time soon.

"Well if it's here... Might as well go."

Gray had entered into the sewers by ripping the sewer drain, he climbed down the stairs and closed the lid so no zombies would sleep past.

The dirty stench filled his nostrils making it hard to inhale, especially with his more sensitive sense of smell.

After climbing down the ladder he dropped down onto the sidewalk beside the green sewer water.

*Splash!*

A piece of rock had chipped itself onto it, creating a splash upon landing.

[You have entered New York City Sewers]

Gray was in a cross section in the sewers.

He looked left, right, back and front there were dark tunnels as far as the eye could see in every direction he checked.

There didn't seem to be any indication of where he should go, the only lead he had was with his X-Ray which was indicating that they were beneath him.

"Down... Now how am I supposed to do that?" He asked himself as he looked down.

The instant he did so, his ears twitched.

*Squeal*

It was faint but he could hear it.

*Screech* *Screeech* *Splash!* *Splash!*

His head moved left, then right as he tried to pinpoint the sound.

Eventually, he stopped moving. They were coming from every direction.

He swung his arm around on each of the tunnel entrances towards him.

[Pause] [Pause] [Pause] [Pause]

*SPLASH!* *SPLASH!*

The splashes were getting louder, he estimated less than ten seconds until they collided.

*SCREEECH!* *SCREECH!*

In the distance he could finally see it taking shape. The silhouette of the monsters heading right at him.

At first he thought it was monsters, but what he ended up seeing surprised him even more.

Giant squealing rats with crimson red eyes. Their two front teeth resembled ominous fangs resembling something straight out of a nightmare.

"Giant rats, again?" Gray asked with a sigh.

They were fast, their figures which had only been barely illuminated had become completely visible as they covered what seemed to be over twenty meters in just a second.

Gray took a few steps back towards the staircase before doing a few stretches.

There was a whole swarm of them, he tried counting but it was no use, they were in a large swarm, one right behind the other.

"I'm guessing they're like the lizard things... They also mutated because of the Labyrinth, didn't th-"

Gray was interrupted as the giant fanged rat appeared before him with it's jaws opened wide.

*Snap!*

Without a hint of hesitation, it snapped down at his head, aiming to finish and devour him in one smooth motion. They were starving for food.

However-

*Sling!*

The very same rat which snapped at him, the one in the lead of the pack was suddenly sliced into the five equal pieces. Both vertically and horizontally.

[Earned 40 XP!]

The others behind, unaware that they were already in his trap had also leapt from behind, the momentum and velocity dragged them cleanly through Gray's trap.

Instantly slashing them up to pieces.

[You Killed A Giant Mutated Rat!]

*SPURT!* *GUSH!*

Blood spurted out from their bodies, Gray who was in the middle of the beginning of the bloodbath was being rained upon by blood.

But somehow none of it was dirtying him. This was of course due to the fact that he had set up walls of paused air around himself so he wouldn't be coated in their fluids.

*Gush!* *Gush!*

The blood of some were green and steamy, they resembled venom or a type of acid while the others were purple and dark red.

*Splash!* *Splash!* *Splash!*

[You Killed A Giant Mutated Rat!]

[You Killed A Giant Mutated Rat!]

After just a few seconds, the walls were coated in so much blood that without [X-Ray] Gray couldn't see what was happening outside.

Although they were big, they were quite stupid. They continued to rush into his trap, killing themselves as a result.

But Gray didn't mind. It was free XP, after all.

[You Killed A Giant Mutated Rat!]

[Kill count: 11 -> 14 -> 19 --> 23 --> 29 --> 31]

The kill count was quickly rising up. Gray yawned as he waited for it to be finished, he didn't want to waste time here.

*Yawn*

He sat down after holding back another yawn and shuth is eyes.

"I'll wait until it's over."

His heart slowly pounded in excitement as he saw just how much faster he was progressing.

"I... I should have started mass-killing a long time ago." He claimed with an excited nod.

Gray swiped the options down. As excited as he was to use it, he still knew he had to wait.

What was he going to invest on? Naturally it would be the roulettes.

His fortunate was at it's peak, and in the worst case, even if he did get teleported, by then he'd already have arrived at base and confirmed everyone's safety, so there would really be nothing to worry about.

Gray hummed happily and watched as the timer on the paused air wall ended.

[Timer ended.]

The blood which had been scattered across the wall, blocking his line of sight dispersed and plopped to the floor.

He leapt up to the celling, barely avoiding the droplets as it splashed around.

There was no telling what sort of infections or diseases it might have carried, Gray didn't want to risk having it go into contact with his skin.

With his fingers paused onto the celling he scanned his surroundings from the top, making sure there was nothing else coming.

Fortunately, just as he had hoped, that was indeed the last of them. They had stupidly killed themselves.

Or so it seemed.

[Pause Step]

Gray vanished from the celling, appearing with his legs glued onto the sewer walls, a mild distance away.

From his new location, he could saw the giant figure of a Rat which had been hiding, appear in the area of the celling where he had just been.

"Looks like one was left..." He muttered.

Seeing as how it had missed him, the Rat screeched and kicked off the celing towards Gray. It's sharp claws were extended out towards him with the intent to pierce or at least cut at him.

[Pause-Step]

*Swoosh!*

The Rat swung it's arm once again at Gray only to be left confused as he disappeared once more.

"Like I said... I really don't have time to waste right now." The voice came from above it.

The Rat's eyes widened, it screeched and turned around kicking off the ground to leap at Gray and counter him with it's incredible speed.

It was the smartest out of all the other rats, it planned to finish him off swiftly as it recognised him as a threat.

It was only natural it would, it's pray had killed it's entire squad without moving a muscle.

It was infuriated.

However... It's fury held nothing but a candle to the great flames of hatred rage sealed off and burning within Gray.

Before it could even get an inch off the floor.

[Fast-Forward.]

There wasn't any slashes or traps set up.

Gray was no longer where he was once more, it could smell him, he had appeared behind him.

But just as it turned to him...

*Flop*

It's eyes widened, as slash marks appeared all throughout it's body.

"SCREE-"

*Splatter!*

Piles of organs burst out from the Giant Rat's body which was diced up into countless pieces.

It's blood splattered on Gray's paused air wall as he stared down coldly at it.

[You Killed A Giant Rat Chief!]

[You gained 70 XP!]

With a unamused look, Gray turned away and began his tread down the sewer's tunnel.
