My Evil System
75 Ah . . . my little home is complete
The moment of truth was right before my eyes. We watched the breakwater that was constructed right in time, and stood its ground against the ravaging waves.
It rained the entire day, and the water level rose, testing the might of the breakwater. Fortunately, it seemed like fate was finally on my side.
Unlike before, when the waters reached the coconut trees on the shore and spilled to the areas beyond it, now, the seas didn't even reach the shore.
The breakwater successfully broke the giant waves and stopped the water from flooding the lands.
"Congratulations, my lord. It's a success," said Athena.
"Just in time before the Blood Rain."
I didn't want to sound pessimistic, but I also didn't want to raise my hopes up unnecessarily. "It's just a one-day rain. We can't assume the same for seven days of the storm."
"As long as the rain doesn't become a typhoon, the breakwater would be able to handle it," assured Athena.
That's right. The level of the Blood Rain wasn't decided yet. Who knew if it was just going to be a pitter-patter and that I was worrying for nothing?
"Let's go back home and rest," I said instead. "We all deserve a break."
Of course, none actually heeded my command as everyone went back to their work. Apparently, there was no such word as 'rest' in the Tokens' vocabulary.
That meant no rest for me, too, since I would feel bad and guilty if I was the only one who was resting while the others worked.
Not Florin, though. She went straight to our house, tiptoeing along the way.
"What would you like to eat, my lord?" Florin asked the moment we reached our house. "Stew? Fried? Or roasted meat?"
At least she was the one cooking. "Anything is fine," I answered. "I'll be checking around the area first."
"Don't go too far. It's getting dark. K~?"
"It's probably because it's raining and the clouds blocked the sun," I answered and got out.
At least I had gotten used to her and everyone's presence these past few days. I no longer stuttered when I was talking to them . . . well, just a little.
Our house was already completed, and it would serve as our Town Hall or TH, as Athena explained. It was a two-story house made of white stone walls and blue tile roofs. And it had the most Hit Points or HP out of all the structured in my property. Around five thousand.
It was a twenty by twenty-meter house furnished with the necessary amenities. There were three bedrooms upstairs, including mine. The master bedroom was naturally mine, and it had a small office and bathroom inside. Other rooms have one shared bathroom.
On the ground floor was a fireplace which was in the area that served as the living room. There was also a kitchen with all the necessary tools to cook simple dishes, as well as a dining area just across it.
The small salt cave at the side also served as our refrigerator, while the shelves were packed with jars full of pickled fruits, meat, and other dried goodies. Hanging on the wooden beams were the dried and smoked meats, fruits, and all kinds of spices and herbs.
There was also a hidden compartment that only I knew about, where I stored extra food and medicines in case there was an emergency.
You could never be too safe.
<Host is beginning to get paranoid. A necessary emotion to ensure your safety!>
Yeah. Yeah. I sighed and went outside when I was sure that my house was well-equipped to deal with anything when the Blood Rain came.
Using a makeshift umbrella made of wood as the handle and dried cogon grass as the canopy, I went around my property.
Everything was finished — the walls, vegetable farm, vertical garden, animal barns, and even Ulysses' laboratory.
However, Daedalus wasn't the type to just rest and lazed around, so he started upgrading the walls. The rest of the workers never stopped foraging for materials either.
The makeshift walls were made of wood as it was only a temporary measure against wild beasts. Now that Daedalus had time to spare, he was going to replace wood with stones to make them sturdier and eye-pleasing.
A master builder was not one to mess around when it came to architecture and engineering.
Each of my facilities also had a level, and the higher the level, the higher the HP they had, and the more features it could have.
The wooden walls served as my primary defense, and currently, it was only at LV. 2 with 200 HP. Daedalus was upgrading it to LV. 3 Stone Walls with 500 HP.
I noticed that every upgrade took longer too. Like, if I wanted to upgrade the animal barn and make it larger to accommodate more animals and add features like a swinging cow brush or the more advanced milking machine in the future, it would take approximately three to five days.
Even if I didn't walk around, I could still see all the facilities through my screen. With a press of a button, everything was displayed on the map. And by everything, I meant all structures, paths, and even the creatures in my territory.
All their information and upgrades were also displayed when I pressed them.
But still, I wanted to look around and personally check everything. Minion 0 was guarding the place, walking here and there while sniffing out any threat nearby.
In this newbie village from where I was teleported, there were probably no beasts stronger than Minion 0. It was the perfect guard.
On a side note, Ulysses was still cooped up in his lab, creating all sorts of potions and concoctions while the animals were getting cozy in their pen. When I was sure there was nothing amiss, I moved to the rice paddy next.
Walking from my territory to the south hills before the mountains only took me ten minutes. There were four small layers of rice paddies in there.
Compared to the other crops that only needed three to four days before harvest, rice took twenty days.
So until now, there was no rice.
Another problem was that I didn't have machines and tools to process the rice that would separate it from its husk or process it into flour and other products.
Daedalus needed blueprints for those, and I wondered where and how I could acquire one without using force. I badly needed rice. Going on for almost a month with no rice was making me lose my mind.
I needed that piece of white, sticky, creamy, tasty, gooey piece of grain to live!
<Don't worry, Host. Another batch of blueprints is coming your way>
Huh?
Before I could ask the system what it meant, a series of notifications shocked me, rooting me in my current spot.
<CONGRATULATIONS to Host for successfully DESTROYING ROSELAKE TOWN!>
