Zhang Liling walked through the familiar hallway for a few seconds before taking a turn.

A minute later, she arrived in front of Zhang Renshu's study before pushing the door open without even bothering about the simplest courtesy of knocking on the door of a closed private room.

Zhang Renshu was sitting on his chair with a menacing gaze when she walked in without knocking.

Instantly, his calm gaze followed her as she walked over to come sit in front of him.

"Hello, Dad!" Zhang Liling greeted him without caring what his facial expression looked like.

Zhang Renshu's eyes studied the daughter he hadn't seen and heard from for over a year.

Nothing changed except for something in her eyes that translated to her getting wiser, but at this point, the man deemed her to be foolish.

"Did you lose your manners that you didn't bother to knock before walking into a closed space?"

"Ah! I thought you were in a hurry to meet me, and as I good girl that I am, I had to walk in as soon as possible so as not to keep you waiting and waste both of our time," Zhang Liling retorted and flashed him a smile at the end.

"What?" Zhang Renshu couldn't believe his ears as his eyes squinted at her.

What nonsense did she just spew?

"I can see that your manners worsen the more you get older." He said while staring right into her eyes like a hawk waiting for the right time to tear her into pieces.

Zhang Liling did not mind his gaze as she unhurriedly placed her back on his table. Anyway, she was not here to insult him unless he asked for it.

"Dad, you asked me to come over, and I came as soon as I can."

"You came as soon as you can?! Were you helping out in the delivering room or what? I called you several times but you did not answer my call, but as soon as I scolded that Fang guy you came running over."

"What? You scolded Mr. Fang? Why did you do that? What did you say to him?"

Zhang Liling was shocked her father actually scolded her boyfriend when he called, and Mr. Fang did not mention any of this to her.

She too had forgotten to ask him what her father said to her apart from asking her to come back.

"He did not tell you?" Zhang Renshu shrugged.

Not thinking much about it, his face instantly turned black as he was reminded of the reason he called her over.

"You have been missing for the past one year and here I was filled with guilt, not knowing that you were busy satisfied with being someone's mistress! How shameless can you get?!"

Zhang Liling scoffed. He had not given her the chance to fully react to the fact that he scolded Mr. Fang, and here he was back to accusing her once again.

"I was indeed missing for one year, but who gave you that ridiculous idea that was someone's mistress? Is this how easy the internet can play with your mind?"

"If you are not Fang Bingwen's mistress, how can you explain the rumors going about online?" Zhang Renshu fired back while gazing intently at her. He didn't seem to trust her words from his gaze as he asked for an explanation.

"Do I have to know why people are so jobless and creative with their minds? Also, do you think that if I was Fang Bingwen's Mistress, he would have brought me to that kind of gathering? Dad, what kind of person do you think I am?"

Zhang Liling wanted to know what her father thought of her. Not that his response would affect her current emotions in any way, but because of another reason.

She wanted to so desperately know how he managed to succeed in business and venture into politics with that low thinking, and a mind that could be easily manipulated by random people.

The young man felt that all the certificates her father had received since his existence, should be returned.

He didn't deserve any of them.

"I don't trust your reasoning and the people from the Fang family." Zhang Renshu retorted.

How could he trust her after she made the decision to leave the family company to go work else, and in the entire year that she left, there was no record of her working in any of the big companies in the City?

Also, how could he trust anyone from the Fang Family when he obviously had something against them?

For these reasons, Zhang Renshu would rather believe whatever nonsense written on the internet about them, than agree with her own reasoning.

They were not to be trusted. They didn't deserve it.

Staring into her father's eyes, Zhang Liling felt a pool of anger rising in her heart.

'What kind of man is this?' she wondered as her eyes watched him.

Not caring what she thought of him, the man asked, "If you were not with Fang Bingwen, where did you run off to since the past year? Have you no future consideration for yourself? Did your mother allow you to play around like a child without hope?"

Zhang Renshu could not help but to blame Song Jujing for the way their daughter turned up.

He could still remember her supporting Zhang Liling to work in any company she wanted, and that alone was enough for him to turn against them both.

"Hahahaha..." An angry chuckle escaped Zhang Liling's lips as the man watched her with creased brows.

"What is funny?"

"Dad, I can't stand your narrowed thoughts, it's vexing. Well, you have been accusing me and wanting to know what I have been up to since the last year," Zhang Liling said, as she made up her mind to reveal the truth she had been waiting for the right time to talk about.

This moment was the best time, and she was going to make use of it to her best advantage.

Zhang Renshu remained calm as he waited patiently to hear what excuse she had to give him.
