MMORPG: Crowd Control

"What are you doing, Lei Zhen?" Kate was bewildered by Lei Zhen's action and wondered what he was doing.

"Take out your sword," Lei Zhen quickly said and continuously cast [Stun] on those soldiers who were not within the radius of his Decaying Poison.

Simultaneously, he released the rope that was attached to Gizzle and Mizzle, freeing them in the process.

"Gizzle and Mizzle, protect the princess and attack whoever gets close." Chris, who came out late from the carriage, quickly commanded his mount to attack those who were in close proximity.

Although he didn't know why Lei Zhen reacted this way, he trusted his action and refused to have any mishap occur.

Throughout their journey, Chris knew Lei Zhen wasn't an impulsive person and wouldn't attack an imperial guard without reason.

And sure enough, the moment Lei Zhen disabled the imperial guards, their true colors start to reveal.

Scott was the first one to break free as he pulled out his sword and smiled menacingly.

"I'm pretty sure my acting was great. So how did you find out?" Scott looked at Lei Zhen and asked curiously.

It was at this time that Kate realized she had nearly been fooled again. The soldiers might be from the imperial guards, but they are no longer acting in command of his father.

Most likely, they had been brought over by one of the princes that were targeting her.

"Your acting skills are definitely great, Scott." Lei Zhen smiled lightly.

"However, you spoke a little too much and that's what caused you to be exposed." He added.

"I've talked too much?"

"Indeed, the timing of your appearance made me a little suspicious at first. But it was your words that confirmed my suspicion. For example, how did you know Princess Kate was attacked?"

After all, they are the imperial guards under Francis Norton, so Kate would have her guards down.

Unfortunately, everything was ruined because of a single person, Lei Zhen.

Meanwhile, Kate was the most infuriated person here as she asked in a cold tone. "Why did you betray my father? Don't you know imperial guards are never to be commanded by anyone else other than the King of Yors Castle?"

"Heh, that's where you're wrong Princess Kate. We are working for the king, just not the current king, but the future king." Scott laughed and justified his action.

"Imbecile! How dare you claim to say you work for the future king when my father is still well and alive?" Kate hissed coldly.

Scott grinned and shrugged his shoulder, brandishing his sword in the meantime. "A princess is still a princess in the end. There has already been a drastic change in Yors Castle the moment you asked for an expedition to search for the rumored Ferold's Ring."

"W-What?"

Before Kate could ask further, Lei Zhen held her arm and whispered, "Stop talking with him. He's trying to stall you at this very moment. When I immobilize him, you should hurry up and kill him off."

Unlike Kate who clearly can't manage her emotions well, Lei Zhen had been calm and collected.

Scott kept on blabbering on might seem like it was out of respect for Kate's question, but Lei Zhen knew he was merely stalling for time.

Something big must be happening in Yors Castle and Kate's return would spell disaster for their scheme.

"You're right, Lei Zhen." Kate calmed her emotions and retrieved her sword. Wasting any more time with Scott was pointless since it was clear that Scott only wanted to delay her journey.

"Good, the duration is probably going to end soon since they're imperial guards, so make sure to use the 3 seconds time interval I create perfectly." Lei Zhen told her.

He dared not underestimate the capability of an imperial guard. They got to their post because of their skills and combat ability.

Kate nodded her head and waited for Lei Zhen's command to take action.

Meanwhile, the Decaying Poison duration was done and the imperial guards began to advance forward.

Now that they realized what kind of skills Lei Zhen can cast, they were not going to group up and allow him to slow them all.

'Tsk, why can't the enemies just stay ignorant like those wuxia novels I've read? Why are they all using their brain?' Lei Zhen clicked his tongue, feeling bamboozled by the popular novels he read in his free time when he was stressed with medical terms to memorize.

"Change of plan, Kate. I'm going to cast an AOE of slowness around us while focusing on Commander Scott only." Lei Zhen changed his original tactic.

Originally, he planned to delay the other imperial guards so Kate could have the chance to fight Commander Scott.

However, that plan is now ruined by the imperial guards separating themselves and going toward them in different directions.

His spell alone was not enough to cover their entire range.

Hence, Lei Zhen decided to have their back toward the carriage, preventing a sneak attack from behind while casting Decaying Poison nearby to delay the imperial guards.

At the same time, he would cast [Stun] only at Commander Scott because he was the strongest, and it was the first time Lei Zhen was unable to read the status of his enemies.

'Why is it always me that encounters enemies far above my level?' Lei Zhen wondered.
