MMORPG : Ancient WORLD

450 Magnus, The Magician

The remaining three days went without any major events besides the team having one close call on the fifth day when a second Beast King mid-battle ambushed them, and that encounter ended in everyone besides Alex and Ravyn dying.

The other notable thing that happened was Alex successfully executed the void walk on the sixth day, and in the following thirty-eight hours since the first success, he improved from the abysmal success rate of doing one every eight to ten tries to consistently do it with every attempt.

However, he was still far from using it properly because, as of the end of the seventh day, Alex could only take the first step without failure, but he only executed the second step once every four to six tries, while he only executed the third step four times in total.

But Alex was still happy with his progress, knowing while he wouldn't be able to use it in the final battle of the event, it wouldn't be long before he could properly use it.

Venedikt also made great progress in seven days as he was now capable of using simple spells using his void fingers, which enhanced their effects and speed by three times at a minimum.

Venedikt had already deduced that maintaining the void finger required minimal energy expenditure, and only a fraction, ranging from 1/100th to 1/10th of his total void energy reserve, was utilized, depending on the strength of the spell he used.

The moment the mana passed through his finger, the process was accelerated multiple times, and the only way to execute the spell was to complete its execution process while also providing the necessary mana at the increased pace, which was extremely challenging as everything needed to be in sync for the end product to come into creation.

While Venedikt could execute skills up to the fourth Rank using the void energy, he could only do so with the skills he manually executed and not his class-given skills.

Andrei also worked hard to replicate the ability he named 'Wild Dominion' to gather the surrounding Beasts or gain control over the already beaten or weak creatures, but nothing worked, as even trying his luck with replicating the circumstances with his life on the line did nothing.

As seven days came to an end, an announcement by Zero came telling all of the teams of their failure to eliminate all two hundred 7★ star mythical creatures before making the spawn location of the 8★ creature available to everyone and the countdown of his arrival and other important details.

After the announcement, all creatures on the island were instantly despawned, including the little raccoon that had accompanied the team for seven days.

The 8★ creature was scheduled to spawn at the center of the island, on a flat, clear piece of land surrounded by a lake that encircled its entirety, a perfect stage for a showdown between the strongest players and the strongest world boss anyone had faced.

The creature was going to spawn in six hours, and once it did, an unpenetrable barrier would surround the battleground, not letting anyone leave or enter by force, and the event would only end with either the creature's death or the annihilation of all the present teams.

Alex's team was still at the top of the ranking, with 28 million leads from the second-ranked team, but he knew that it wouldn't guarantee even the top three position if his team did not participate in the final battle and contribute heavily.

While none of the teams had come looking to eliminate his team, the same wouldn't happen when his team arrived at the final battle location, knowing the only way any of the other top teams won was by eliminating his team from the equation.

Alex also could just not attend the final clash and hoped that teams would be annihilated, knowing close to four hundred elites of the elite would be gathered with monsters like Odin, Killian, Evangeline, and many more among their ranks.

But Alex knew of this predicament long before he even joined the event, and he had thought of a method to deal with it, but if that didn't work, he would be just a bystander of the final battle, watching it from outside the barrier, and that was the reason he took every opportunity to earn a great sum of points to still benefit from the event in case things didn't go as he wanted.

(Six Hours Latter)

When only ten or so minutes were left before the beast spawned and the barrier took effect, Alex and the team reached the location, riding atop the massive beauty of void, T'mirnaya, a gift he gave to Venedikt as his companion beast.

"They sure have gathered a crowd to welcome us," Andrei said as he saw a large group consisting of more than a hundred players get separated from the larger main group.

Alex moved forward, and in the next instant, he rapidly fell to the ground, his eyes scanning the fast-approaching group of players and those that stood a small distance away from the edge.

The rest of the team followed his lead while T'mirnaya, the massive Void Leviathan, a creature of beauty and nobility, ignored the onlookers as she tore open a portal and entered it.

Alex landed on the ground, his pitch-dark eyes not leaving the smiling man calmly walking toward him, whom he knew very well.

A handsome man in his early thirties, standing at 6.3 ft tall and adorning his figure, was a dark cloak, billowing slightly in the breeze as he approached with an air of authority and grace.

His face radiated confidence and charm with chiseled features framed by radiant brown hair tinged with hints of red and orange that caught the sunlight in a fiery halo, his face accentuated by a light beard that added a rugged allure to his demeanor.

'Magnus, The Magician, the man who wields the unknown arcane magic allowing him to wield nothing but combined elements,' Alex thought, looking at the man who stooped a few feet away from him, his face carrying a calm smile.

Alex was expecting Killian, or one of the top-ranking guild leaders, to block his path and not Magnus, an individual who, besides his ability to cause unrivaled destruction, was also a man known for being a calculative figure, only taking actions when it greatly benefited him.

So it was a bit puzzling to understand him taking charge against Alex and his team when the top guild leaders would be forced to do so if they wanted to secure any chance of victory.

"What do you want?" Alex questioned as he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and instantly employed 'Temporal Beacon,' marking the place with the teleportation mark.

"The 250 million points that your team will earn from winning and ten million domain entry tokens, obviously without the nasty slavery contract,"

"Or, There is something in the Ruler treasury that I want. Promise me that, and not only will I help but also pay any price for the stated item," Magnus said, his smile only growing wider.

'What is he on about?' Alex thought, his mind trying to figure out if Magnus was related to Killian and Evangeline and the three of them trying to play some mind game.

Alex felt something was off because Magnus, Killian, and Evangeline were three of the eleven Kings players who were destined to reach the top, and from what he saw, they were previously at the top.

All three of them should solely appear after two or so years, and they also join the event they did not in his previous life, and all three of them came to interact with him, each showing they realized more about him than the world.
