Huo Yao came over with two cups of water and placed them on the table. She glanced at her father and said, “Dad, you are asking too many questions.”

Huo Jinyan had just picked up his cup when he heard her and felt that his daughter was helping an outsider.

He narrowed his eyes and looked at Min Yu somewhat competitively.

Min Yu’s eyes shone brightly.

He cleared his throat and said, “Uncle Huo, I heard Grandpa telling me how much you like ancient Chinese brush painting and calligraphy. There is an ancient brush painting and calligraphy themed exhibit being held at Evergreen Gallery in a few days. I happen to have some invites. I will pass them to you when I get back.”

Huo Jinyan instantly looked shocked. “Huh? Do you have the invites?”

Huo Jinyan had been trying really hard to get his hands on an invite for the ancient brush painting and calligraphy themed exhibition, but the organizer had already given out all the invites. He was disappointed for a long time when he first found out.

After all, the exhibition consisted of iconic pieces from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. If he did not attend this exhibition, he did not know when he could see all of these again.

Min Yu surprisingly had the invite for it!

Min Yu nodded and acknowledged softly with a smile on his face.

Huo Jinyan clenched his fists and did his utmost to contain his joy. He cleared his throat and said, “Really? I feel bad about taking the tickets from you but thank you so much.”

“Don’t worry about it,” replied Min Yu politely.

Huo Jinyan was in a good mood, so he looked at Min Yu warmly.

Huo Yao quietly watched the interaction before looking at Min Yu curiously.

Had Min Yu been planning this all along?

Before long, Min Yu tactfully turned down lunch offer from Huo Jinyan and got up to leave.

Huo Jinyan stood up as well and said to Huo Yao who was playing with her phone, “Yaoyao, send him out.”

Huo Yao’s hands instantly paused before she put her phone back into her pocket. She wanted to stand up, but Huo Yulin said, “Allow me.”

Huo Yulin looked sideways at Huo Yao. “Yaoyao just got into a major accident and must have gotten quite a scare, so you should let her rest.”

His voice sounded cool and completely normal.

The moment he finished his sentence, Huo Yulin nodded at Min Yu politely.

Min Yu narrowed his eyes before he agreed.

The two of them quickly left the hospital ward one after another.

Huo Yao looked at the door as she blinked. She suddenly felt something awfully familiar about what Huo Yulin was trying to do.

After leaving the hospital ward, Min Yu and Huo Yulin took the lift downstairs without saying a word.

Huo Yulin finally halted after they left the hospital building and turned to look straight into Min Yu’s eyes coolly.

He had an unusually fair complexion which brought out his features. He suddenly got serious and a powerful aura radiated from him. “Yao doesn’t run in the same circles as you.”

Min Yu remained unfazed as a threatening vibe radiated from Huo Yulin. His black coat accentuated his mild aura as he said calmly, “I beg to differ.”

Huo Yulin pursed his lips and said coldly, “Other people might be afraid of the Min family, but not us.”

Min Yu acknowledged Huo Yulin nonchalantly as though he already knew everything about the Huo family.

The two of them quietly looked at each other for a few seconds imposingly before Huo Yulin veered his eyes away first. He said nothing and turned to walk back into the hospital.

Min Yu raised his eyebrow slightly. Huo Yulin seemed like an interesting character.
