Huo Yao glanced at Shangguan Hou's dagger and suddenly laughed. She said, "From the looks of it, you haven't done enough homework about your opponent."

Shangguan Hou frowned. Before he was able to wrap his mind around her words, he promptly sensed a danger coming toward him. He instinctively veered sideways swiftly.

Sadly, he was still too slow. Shangguan Hou sensed a piercing pain in his temple. His eyes constricted as he raised his hand to rub his temple.

He turned his head to check behind and saw a fine silver needle stuck on the discolored wall behind him.

Shangguan Hou put down his hand and looked at the blood on his hand and chills suddenly ran down his back.

Considering the force and aim of her attack, if not for his reflexes and the human skin mask on his face, the silver needle would not have simply grazed past his temple.

Instead, it would have gotten him at the center of his forehead.

Shangguan Hou suddenly looked down, but there was nothing there and Huo Yao was nowhere to be seen.

Shangguan Hou felt worried. He knew that Huo Yao was a good fighter, but she was surprisingly unaffected after all this time. She could even conceal her tracks.

From the looks of it, her immunity to drugs had risen.

At this moment, a soft sound came from behind him. Shangguan Hou warily turned around and looked into Huo Yao's cold eyes.

"You're pulling the same ruse twice. Are you looking down on me, huh?" Huo Yao glanced at the dagger in Shangguan Hou's hand. As she spoke, she flicked her hand hanging on the side of her body.

In a split second, Shangguan Hou sensed his hand turning numb. He automatically loosened his grip on the dagger and it fell onto the ground.

Something changed about Shangguan Hou's expression, but he did not seem flustered. He simply smiled coldly. "For you, the same trick will do just fine."

The moment he finished his sentence, gunmen walked out from the darkness. Dozens of gunmen wielding black guns pointed their weapons at Huo Yao's head in unison from the corridors in front and behind her.

Shangguan Hou did not pick up the dagger from the ground. Instead, he retrieved a porcelain bottle from his pocket and said unhurriedly, "I'm a man of my word. If you take this, I will release these three men now."

He paused and added. "Naturally, you don't have to take it. After all, three lives mean nothing in Country M. I just need to make up some excuse to cover my tracks," said Shangguan Hou airily.

Two gunmen pointed their guns at Li Chenhui and the others as they hung from mid-air.

He was forcing Huo Yao to make a choice.

Huo Yao glanced at Shangguan Hou and the guns trained on her mildly. She pondered for a few seconds and finally said, "Fine. Release them. I will do as you say. Otherwise… Well, you know very well what I can do to you. At the very worst, we can all die together."

She spoke calmly as though she did not have a care in the world.

Shangguan Hou knew that she meant every word she said. After all, he had experienced her ruthlessness first hand back in the day.

Shangguan Hou paused briefly. He veered his head sideways and signaled a man. The man proceeded to pull Li Chenhui and the others up from the railing.

However, he did not release them after pulling them up.

Huo Yao did not insist on their release. After all, this was good enough for her.

This way, she had one less thing to worry about.

"If you try anything funny, they will die immediately." Shangguan Hou handed the porcelain bottle to someone beside him and got him to hand it to Huo Yao to take it.
