Manaless Mage
61 Spell-Casting[3]
'Yes.' Harry said inwardly.
[Learning skill…]
[New skill learnt: Lightning stun]
Harry's brows creased slightly when he saw the notification that appeared in front of him. He hadn't expected it to be that fast.
However, he didn't think about it too much. It wasn't like he didn't benefit from it.
"Lightning stun is one of the easiest spells to learn and cast, so I expect you all to master the spell between now to the next month!" The instructor shouted again.
The moment the instructor completed his words, some of the student's heads turned towards Harry once more.
The words "the next month" once again reminded them about how Harry learned and mastered the same things they learnt in months in mere days and weeks.
Harry simply acted like he didn't notice their gazes. Though, he didn't show it on his face, he still didn't like the weird gazes the academy first-year Elementalists gave him from time to time.
A slight frown appeared on the instructor's face when he noticed his students were getting distracted. He then released a little of his mana pressure once more to remind the students of his presence.
Just a little feel of the man's pressure was enough to jolt the student back. They immediately turned around and placed their focus back on him.
"Open the scroll in your hands!" The blue haired man shouted once more.
A slight grimace appeared on Harry's face, he hated how the man kept shouting even when it wasn't necessary.
'If he loved shouting so much, he should have being a combat instructor.' Harry mumbled inwardly. Since his perception was higher than normal, the shout was quite amplified for him.
The other students were also having similar thoughts, however, they didn't dare say it to the instructor's face.
Though he didn't like the instructor's loud tone, he still couldn't ignore the man's instructions so he opened the scroll.
The other students in the class did the same, for most of them, this was the first time coming across an actual spell-book so they were quite excited to learn the spell.
The scroll was rolled out in a horizontal format, it was quite wide so Harry had to stretch his hands a bit.
Boldly written at the top of the scroll was the name and tier of the spell: 'Lightning stun'.
Harry's brows furrowed slightly as he read the information written on the scroll.
The steps to cast 'Lightning stun' were arranged chronologically in the scroll.
It was basically a combination of hand movements and chants. The hand signs/moments weren't really compulsory, however, they were there to make it easier for stage one Elementalists to cast the spell.
The chants were quite simple and weren't too long and the hand movements were also simple.
This wasn't too surprising as lightning stun was only a tier one spell.
Tier one spells were known to be quite simple and easy to learn, though there were some exceptions as some tier one spells were more complex to learn.
The fact that two spells were in the same tier doesn't mean they would have the same mastering difficulty.
The spell 'Lightning ball' was obviously more complex than 'Lightning stun', so mastering it would naturally be more difficult.
Compared to the latter which only coated the fingertips, the former would as formed above the palms.
"Though tier one spells aren't too complicated, there are still some difficulties you would face while leaning the spell." Harry focused on the words of the instructor.
Though Harry wasn't using mana and would only leave all the 'mana channeling' to 'mana core illusion, he still had to at least have an idea of how to cast the spell. He had to at least know the chants and hand movements.
'Mana core illlusion' was a skill that followed his thoughts and will; whatever illusion he willed for the skill to show, the skill would show—as long as it was related to a mana core.
Whenever, the skill was activated and he wasn't controlling it with his thoughts, it would simply create a 'passive' action of him absorbing mana.
So he would have to personally know somethings about spell casting before using his imagination and thoughts to create the illusion of him actually casting the spell.
Only then, would he be able to fully 'co-operate' with 'mana core illusion'.
"Follow the steps and instructions in the book and cast the spell." The instructor said. He was no longer shouting, neither was he releasing his mana pressure.
He knew the Elementalists needed to be in full concentration to cast the spell, he couldn't distract them with his voice or pressure.
He wasn't actually expecting them to get it at one go, he just wanted to test their talents and learning speed.
His eyes subconsciously drifted to Harry, he knew about Harry's amazing talent so he was curious to see what Harry would do or rather, how fast Harry would grasp the spell.
The most difficult aspect of the spell was the elemental mana control—at least for normal stage one Elementalists. Harry could simply activate the skill, he didn't need to stress himself; not even in the slightest bit.
According to the steps in the spell-book, the Elementalists would slowly chant the spell while channeling elemental mana to the fingertips.
Harry closed his eyes and started chanting the spell.
To Harry the chants sounded funny. Since he couldn't really feel the importance or rather, effects of the chants, it seemed like gibberish to him.
If other Elementalists or mages heard Harry's thoughts right now, they would smack his face in anger.
Spell chants were obviously not in English language or even any other language in today's world.
Spell Chants were classified under "runic language". They assisted with the flow of elemental mana, making spell-casting faster and easier.
Low-staged Elementalists could cast spells without the help of chants, however, it would be ten times harder.
A simple spell like 'Lightning stun' could take over eight minutes which wasn't ideal during a battle with mana beasts. No mana beast would wait for an Elementalists to complete a spell before attacking.
