Kiss Me Not

135 I Hate Wasting Time

"I told you to stick with me 24/7. I think it's only best that you stay in our house for now, as my servant. It will be more practical. You won't need to drive back and forth from my house to your apartment. Besides, it's healthier for you since this way you can eat proper food instead of canned goods and instant noodles." Cain nonchalantly commented as if he was just stating obvious facts and it was no big deal.

"Are you being serious right now? What would everyone think of me? Aren't you being too clingy? Don't tell me you like me and want me to stick by your side at all times?!" Kimmy barked with snapped eyebrows.

Cain scoffed and said, "Don't act paranoid. What, do you even care? You're my employee anyway, so what's the big deal about you staying in my house? Besides, my father will be very happy if you stay at our house. I've never seen him looking so happy the way he is whenever you are around." Cain explained because it was actually true. His father was smiling and laughing a lot with Kimmy around so it would be a good decision if Kimmy stayed with them.

'So this is all about uncle Damiel?' Kimmy mused, she felt stupid for thinking too much and trying to give meaning to Cain asking her to stay in their house.

Her face reddened with embarrassment on getting too ahead of herself but somehow she was not at all pleased with what she heard. She felt rather disappointed on finding out that the only reason Cain demanded for her to stay in their house was because of uncle Damiel.

'What the hell is wrong with me! Get a hold of yourself Kimmy!' she quietly scolded herself for wishing the reason wasn't that simple.

"Alright, if this is for uncle Damiel then I agree to stay in your house… Besides, you are right, I get to eat nice meals there instead. But, I too have a condition, my mother must not find out about this arrangement of ours so make sure that it doesn't happen because she will definitely make a fuss out of it and I really don't want to end up running away from her again so please, take care of it," she said with a pout.

"Sure, I will make sure that I talk to dad about this since Her Highness Leila is visiting him often," Cain reassured.

Their conversation was interrupted when the food Kimmy ordered arrived.

"I'll prepare our lunch," Kimmy said, excusing herself to prepare their lunch. Cain nodded and a silly smile curved on his face as he watched Kimmy's back.

Kimmy prepared the table for them to have their food as soon as the delivery arrived. Her face was still crumpled as she went inside the pantry room. She would have loved to eat her lunch somewhere outside, to get some fresh air, she felt as if she was running out of air. It was a very unusual feeling and this was the first time she was feeling a different kind of emotion.

Cain had a pantry room inside his office, the room had everything anyone could need also, there was another door in the office that she could bet was a private space for him,  like a bedroom where he could sleep or just rest if he did not want to go home or he probably had surgeries scheduled for the night.

After meeting Cain in person for the first time, she had actually bothered herself with searching and finding out more about him. She found out that he was a psychiatrist and a General Surgeon. He was basically one of the most prominent doctors at his age worldwide.

It must be really nice to have a son-in-law like him, no wonder her mother liked Cain so much that she chose him as a husband for her. Her future would definitely be secured in all aspects… and yet who knows? Cain could also turn out to be like his father… A man with a very good reputation but who was actually someone rotten from inside.

While she was busy in her own world, Cain came in and sat in front of her and she unconsciously voiced out, "Is it true that you've never had a girlfriend yet?"

Cain was surprised with this sudden question but then he met Kimmy's eyes and seeing how her face scrunched up, he could tell that she instantly regretted asking that aloud.

"Are you now interested in my personal affairs?" Cain teasingly asked as he casually grabbed the spoon and fork and began eating.

"Just curious, I mean I honestly searched a lot about you after we met. According to the reports, you've never dated or gone on blind dates. Why is that? I mean men your age would already have a wife by now. Is it because of me? I'm not saying you're interested in me but is it somehow connected to me? A trauma perhaps, that a bride of yours ran away?" Kimmy bombarded.

"Are you always like this? Blunt and thoughtless?" Cain questioned back.

"I guess. But I try to tone it down during my stay in country D but I think it was triggered during my stay with Boss Kenzie."

"If you really are responsible for me not being married and for me being loveless up till now, are you willing to make amends and take responsibility for it?" Cain snapped, making Kimmy gulp.

She exhaled loudly and said, "I know I wronged you, but I mean so many years have already passed. I did not run not because of you but because I hadn't met you and knew nothing about you at that time. I mean I hope you won't take it personally since like I said… I don't like arranged marriages and I'm scared of marrying someone I don't even know."

"From what I remember, I tried getting to know you but you clearly rejected all my attempts for us to meet and get to know each other more before the wedding. Isn't it a simple courtesy to at least meet me and later decide if you really don't want to pursue the marriage and not run away a day before the wedding ceremony?" Cain condemned.

"Yes, okay I am thoughtless and selfish… I know. I didn't think much about you and the people around me. All I wanted to do was run away at that time and…

"Let's not talk about all this anymore. Let's just focus on eating for now. It's all in the past anyways so let's not bring it up. I am not dating anyone nor am I looking for a relationship simply because I'm busy and have no time for all this so don't get paranoid and stop feeding yourself with nonsense thoughts along with useless speculations. You definitely have nothing to do with it so don't think too highly of yourself, that one incident alone will not make me single forever."

Kimmy only sighed and started eating. There was a moment of silence, then Cain spoke.

"Later, we will go straight to your apartment instead of going back to my house first. Pack your things up and I will wait for you to be done so that you can directly move to our house this evening."

Kimmy's eyes widened and she asked, "This fast? Why are we in a hurry? Can't it wait until tomorrow, please?"

"I hate wasting time. If you can do things now, why still wait for tomorrow?"
