The next day, Ye Zhen didn’t wake up until the sun was already high in the sky because of Zhouzhou’s first lunar birthday celebration yesterday.

Compared to the clamor and bustle of yesterday, it was very quiet today.

After washing up, Ye Zhen went downstairs and sat down at the dining table. Looking at Aunty Yue, who was serving her breakfast, she doubtfully asked, “Aunty Yue, where’s mom and grandpa? Why don’t I see them?”

“Young Master went to work, and Old Master packed up and went to the ancestral home early in the morning. Young Master Shaoyan and Young Master Lin sent Old Master off.

Madam didn’t feel well this morning, so she went to the hospital. But, it’s just old symptoms flaring up for Madam. It’s nothing serious. She’s just going to the hospital for a check up. She specifically told me to pass on the message that you don’t have to worry or go to the hospital to visit her. Just stay at home and take care of the young master.”

For Old Master Lu to return to the ancestral home in the morning, it meant that his discussion with Lu Beichuan went well yesterday. At the very least, there was no conflict between them on the surface.

Maintaining this relatively stable coexistence was the best of both worlds.

Aunty Yue placed a bowl of fresh and soft chicken congee in front of Ye Zhen. It had a delicious aroma, a velvety texture, and excellent flavor.

The nanny brought Zhouzhou downstairs. Zhouzhou, who had just finished drinking milk, had a pacifier in his mouth. He looked around the room with his big eyes. “Zhouzhou, come here, mom will hold you.” Ye Zhen held the little bundle. While playing with Zhouzhou, she asked the nanny about Zhouzhou, “How many times did Zhouzhou wake up last night? How many times do you feel him milk? Did he cry?”

The nannies hired by the Lu’s were all diligent professionals. The nanny replied without leaving out any details, “Madam, you don’t have to worry. I’ve cared for a lot of children before, and Zhouzhou is the most well-behaved child I’ve ever seen. He woke up two times last night. I fed him milk twice and changed his diaper once. “So our Zhouzhou is a good baby.” Ye Zhen held Zhouzhou and looked at that nanny. “You worked hard. Go rest. I’ll take care of Zhouzhou today.”

The nanny smiled. “It’s nothing. I’m just doing what I should.”

Ye Zhen held Zhouzhou’s little hand. However, Zhouzhou had only paid attention to her for a moment. He was already back to earnestly sucking on his pacifier. The toy had his full attention, and he didn’t give his mom any face.

It had been a month since Zhouzhou was born. Under the nannies and Mrs. Lu’s feeding, his weight gain could clearly be seen. He had the chubby cheeks of a baby, and Ye Zhen could feel that he had gotten much heavier. He was a fat little dumpling that only ate and slept.

“Chubby boy, you have to grow up well. Look, your mom is so pretty, and your dad… he’s okay. You can’t waste the genes you inherited, okay?”

Zhouzhou didn’t pay attention to her at all. His eyelids drooped, and he fell asleep while sucking his pacifier.

“Madam, I’ll hold the baby for you,” Aunty Yue whispered.

“No need, I’ll hold him for a little bit longer. I’m not tired.”

After these words were said, someone walked into the villa and quietly reported to Ye Zhen, “Madam, someone is here to see you. She says her name is Ye Qing and that she’s your older sister.”
