686 Terrifying Invoked Spirit
The serpent continued to twitch on the ground before eventually bleeding to its death. As he stared at it, Pilkan was surprised to see his Nascent Soul reacting to it, "Wait, isn't my Nascent Soul a human type?"
"Let's try it once, shall we?" Typically, a Cat type Nascent Soul was only able to obtain Mental Fragments from cats. If the Invoker attempts with other living beings, they would simply fail at getting any Mental Fragments.
But since he felt a reaction from his Nascent Soul, Pilkan thought of attempting it once, activating his Dreamland as he churned whatever Mental Energy he had, focusing on the serpent as he sensed his Dreamland manifesting over it.
And surprisingly, it began to absorb the serpent's Mental Fragments, "What the heck?"
Pilkan was startled, to say the least, wondering what was happening as he noticed that all the Mental Fragments of the serpent were absorbed by his Dreamland.
He closed his eyes, focusing on his Dreamland to see a pile of Mental Fragments there, intending to check them out when suddenly, the pile moved, heading towards the Nascent Soul on its own as they were arranged in order, causing the Nascent Soul to now possess a humanoid form, though feeble.
There were still plenty of Mental Fragments remaining from the serpent, deemed useless by the Nascent Soul as they spread out throughout the Dreamland, remaining as is for the time being.
Invokers were able to use the excess Mental Fragments to create a world in their Dreamland and create an environment beneficial for the Invoked Spirit. It was a necessary step to proceed beyond the Invoker Stage and enter the Ascender Stage. Though, this was a privilege only available for those at the Superior Invoker Stage.
Leaving that aside, strengthening one's Mental Strength was through strengthening the Dreamland, which meant the proper, and harmonious arrangement of the Mental Fragments in the Dreamland, in a format beneficial for the Invoked Spirit.
A failure in both would result in the self-implosion of the Invoked Spirit.
'Why is it happening automatically?' Pilkan was shocked, for the process that happened in a matter of seconds usually took a month or two for the Invoker. And even then, the result might not be perfect, for they have to experiment on a trial-and-error basis to determine the best format that worked for them.
And, it wasn't even from a human, but Mental Fragments sourced from a serpent. Pilkan didn't even know what was happening anymore, gritting his teeth as he firmed himself, "I'll just go along with the flow and see what happens. It's thanks to it that I survived the fall anyway."
Pilkan then began to roam through the place, looking for other creatures to kill, knife in hand as he carefully tiptoed, suddenly sensing a stream impact him from one direction as he turned around in reflex and stabbed at the spot the stream originated from.
Only then did he notice that he had stabbed into the ground, lifting the knife to see the body of a scorpion it pierced, dead. Now that it happened a second time, Pilkan observed that the stream resembled starlight and didn't do him any harm, or rather, it allowed him to predict the location of his enemy moments before they attacked, vanishing immediately after.
Just like before, he focused his Dreamland on the corpse of the scorpion, watching its Mental Fragments too get sucked readily. And the same as before, the pile of Mental Fragments moved automatically as part of them were absorbed into the Nascent Soul.
Following that, Pilkan hunted other creatures, relying upon the starlight stream that alerted him of the enemy on time every time. Thanks to that, his hunt went easy, allowing him to hunt more than fifty creatures before he broke into a smile, exhausted, but elated.
"My Invoked Spirit is completed."
In the Dreamland was a humanoid entity, or rather, it looked no different from a human. Pilkan observed that the humanoid entity was grandly detailed, like a work of art, save for its eyes which were just a pair of holes.
The entity was somewhat eerie to observe as Pilkan churned whatever Mental Strength he had, invoking it, bringing it to reality to stare in surprise.
The humanoid entity spanned a height of four metres, a hulking giant with imposing might. It was donned in what seemed to be a pair of shorts, partly resembling a skirt, reaching its knees.
Its upper body was bare, revealing bulging muscles.
Pilkan focused, controlling its actions, for Invoked Spirits couldn't move on their own. Even the most minute of actions had to be done by the Invoker.
Usually, an Invoker was aware of all the abilities their Invoked Spirit possessed, for they were the ones that built it from scratch. But as the case was different for Pilkan, he wasn't aware of his Invoked Spirit's abilities, experimenting for a good couple of hours as he made it perform a variety of actions before getting the gist of things.
Following that, he made the Invoked Spirit carry him on its shoulder, making it arrive before the cliff wall as it raised its hand, condensing a staff with the serpent mouth at the front, its teeth protruding out grandly.
The Invoked Spirit stabbed the teeth into the wall and cranked its hand, lifting its body upward while it repeated the same using its other hand by condensing a second staff.
His Invoked Spirit could condense the Mental Fragments in the Dreamland into a variety of items, rare even among Human Invokers. After all, to condense a weapon, the Invoker would have to spend months, if not years. And when not in use, they were like litter that interfered with the harmony of the Dreamland.
But, things were different in his case as the moment he gave the command, the Invoked Spirit extracted the required Mental Fragments from the Dreamland and condensed the perfect weapon in a matter of seconds. And after use, it would return the Mental Fragments to their original location.
This was an overwhelming advantage that only he possessed as Pilkan looked forward to his future, staring at his frighteningly powerful Invoked Spirit, watching it climb up the cliff at a rapid pace. His eyes shone with a cunning glint, "Lan Clan, I'll exact my revenge!"
