653 In My Past (Part 18)
Gilthru rushed into the enemy lines as corpses fell in his wake. With a wave of his hand, a metal spike jutted out of the ground, impaling an Orc, causing its painful screams to resound aloud.
It wasn't dead yet but was roaring in pain. Its cries demotivated its allies, causing their morale to plummet quickly as Gilthru repeated the same in various parts of the town.
A metallic wire mesh covered the streets, stabbing into the soles of the enemies, immobilising them for a moment when metallic arrows slithered in the air like snakes and pierced through their bodies, killing them.
Gilthru was the one to create the wire mesh while the slithering arrows were manipulated by Arnark.
Boom!
A Grandmaster Ogre collapsed to the ground, severed into pieces as Gilthru and Arnark landed beside, their backs facing one another, not exchanging glances.
"Are you content killing your own kin?" Gilthru spat out and leapt away, targeting another batch of Orcs that he took down in a matter of seconds. But through the corner of his eye, he observed that Arnark didn't seem pissed at his words.
Instead, he was calm, focusing on his battle instead as his enemies fell at a faster pace.
"Die!" A Master Principal Arbiter that had been in hiding all along leapt out, shouting at Gilthru with all his might. The entirety of his mana was expended to create a mystical compulsive force that slammed into Gilthru, causing him to condense a metal spike and aim at his forehead, intending to impale himself.
This was the power of a Principal Arbiter. Though, as the opponent was only a Master, Gilthru was still able to resist to a certain extent. But he was entirely focused on this, making him vulnerable to the attacks from the Orcs nearby that rushed at him.
"Break!" Arnark's voice resounded at this time, freeing Gilthru, allowing him to retaliate against the lunging Orcs before he threw a metal spear that pierced through the Master Principal Arbiter's chest, killing him.
Upon noticing that Arnark didn't even flinch at a fellow Demon being killed so violently by him, Gilthru didn't speak much, taking off to the air to observe the state of the battle, "It's almost done."
Khun was flying beyond the town as the Elf sat on his back, divining the important locations that severed vital to the enemy's formations. And in response, Khun unleashed devasting breath attacks of destruction that annihilated the targeted regions.
Lorbordo was faring even better, having initially transformed into a mosquito as he made his way to the rear encampment of the enemies where those in power relayed commanded from.
He then flew to a height of a kilometre above them before transforming into an armoured Magic Beast famed for its fortress life defence and a movement speed rivalling that of a snail. It was a creature spanning a size of twenty metres, a hulking behemoth of fleshly mass that slammed into the headquarters, squashing it into a pulp.
Those leading the army were squashed into juice as the shockwaves alone killed a good fraction of the army stationed in the rear.
Lorbordo was a Transformation Specialist, one of the rarest but strongest professions in the world. There were less than ten Transformation Specialists in the entire Lizardmen race. They were that rare.
A Transformation Specialist was geared for physical combat, capable of taking the form of any fleshly entity. And in the case of a Magic Beast whose powers were stored in their Magic Organs, the Transformation Specialist was able to unleash those abilities too, as long as they were able to emulate the respective Magic Organs.
It wasn't just that as a Transformation Specialist was even able to emulate their custom transformation, their strongest trait that made the profession one of the most overpowered in their world.
Gilthru's attention then fell on Zaira who had accomplished the most in this battle, having been unleashing metal arrows heated to the level of plasma with lightning sparkling around. They homed in on their targets using wind and for those situated far away, portals did the trick.
This allowed her to attack them from anywhere she pleased without losing any power in the attack due to range.
"The power of all six elements in one," Gilthru muttered, watching the army retreat after having lost most of their powerhouses.
"Wait, they've already obtained their objective!" Just as everyone was about to relax, the Elf shouted in a hurry, "I can feel massive fluctuations in fate."
Boom!
Followed by a sonic boom, Gilthru appeared before the Elf, asking in a hurry, "Where?"
"Eighty kilometres away from here…" The Elf had just begun to speak when Gilthru's figure vanished, "I divined that something devastating will happen if we leave it be."
"Dammit, that reckless fool." Khun groaned as he forced everyone from the Hero party on his back, ignoring Arnark's protests as he threw him on the back too before chasing after Gilthru.
The Elf fidgeted. Not revealing the fact that her divination also hinted that something devastating would happen if they were to interfere, the only difference was that this would erupt late in the future, but the consequences would be many times greater.
This was the first time she felt this; she was confused and hence didn't reveal it, wondering if she had made a mistake.
…
"Ack! No! Please! Leave my sister alone!" A girl around ten years in age clutched a torn book, screaming as she thumped the cage she was trapped within.
Her elder sister was situated on a stone platform outside, chained up as she was surrounded by a group of Mermen that placed a hand on her head, channelling a power that constantly transformed her body.
An even larger group of Mermen were at the back, singing a choir that amplified the power funnelling into the girl, causing her to scream in pain as she transformed into a gigantic creature resembling a dragon before soon, her scales began to fall off as the flesh within squirmed, beginning to bleed.
Trapped in the cage, staring at her elder sister being transformed into a grotesque monster, the ten-year-old girl clutched her notebook tighter, sobbing sadly.
