I Hate Systems
619 Call Me Regriel
"Nothing much, just an experiment." Slayer commented casually, "I'm just interested to see if the Shaman King's child would inherit his powers."
"That'll never happen." The Shaman King said, "Those powers would vanish along with me. Everything in this world is balanced."
"And all my race's power is concentrated in me and me alone. Hence, I won't live long to prevent the other races from being oppressed or annihilated under my rule."
"Yeah, that's unfortunate." Slayer nodded, "If only you had a few more centuries to live, you'll be able to reach the peak of this world."
"And, that's what I'm hoping to see."
The Shaman King stared at Slayer for a good couple of minutes before asking solemnly, "Who the heck are you? I can't even see the depth of your strength."
"Well, someone at the peak?" Slayer tilted his head, saying casually, "That might be a good way to put it. But you see…"
He continued speaking, "There are countless worlds out there. Some of them are weak, some are strong, some are mysterious, some are terrifying, and some are simply endless. There are all sorts of worlds out there. And, I want to…"
"Control them?" The Shaman King interjected.
"Rightly said so." Slayer's eyes widened in surprise before laughing aloud, "You're pretty terrifying as a Shaman King. Even among all the Shaman Kings I've witnessed, you're in a league of your own."
"Honestly, I don't wish to see you die due to the law that restricts your life to a century."
"That is the very same law that empowers me to be this strong." The Shaman King said in confidence, "Even against you, I'm confident in injuring you before I'm killed. No Pseudo-Saint is ever capable of that."
"That is true," Slayer nodded before proposing, "So, I have an interesting thing planned here."
He then made eye contact with the Shaman King, "Why don't you…become a Human?"
"A Human?" The Shaman King frowned, asking, "Are you a Principal Arbiter?"
"Yeah." Slayer nodded. "With my strength, I'll be able to completely convert you into a Human, including your profession."
"But, that's useless." The Shaman King said, "Through this conversion, I'll lose the support of the Shaman profession. So, it's a futile effort."
"Not necessarily," Slayer spoke all of a sudden, extending his hand to reveal a swirling mass of Mental Energy, hidden in the centre of which was a sphere with hundreds of spikes, the ends of which turned into threads of Mental Energy that danced slowly.
It was a Coordinate. And considering the substance that had been infused into it, the resultant was a System.
"Hmm, this is that entity I felt inside Tehela." The Shaman King muttered when suddenly, Slayer unleashed a mana fluctuation that transmitted some details to him, causing him to nod in response, 'I see, so that's a System.'
He then noticed Slayer panting in response, feeling like he had taken damage somehow. But a few seconds later, he recovered back to full health, saying as extended the swirling mass of Mental Energy, "By taking this in yourself, you'll be able to surpass your current self. Though not by much, if what I predicted is right, there's a chance."
"Sounds interesting." The Shaman King smiled as he grabbed hold of the swirling mass of Mental Energy, or at least, that was what he tried to do, twitching awkwardly when his hands simply passed through it.
Even though he could sense it thanks to him being supported by his profession, he wasn't able to make contact with it yet.
"I'll help with that," Slayer said, gently seeping the System into the Shaman King's body as immediately after, a sonorous sound resounded in the Shaman King's mind.
<Ding!>
[Initiating the Totem System]
"Totem…?" The Shaman King muttered in surprise, staring at Slayer.
"I've been experimenting with the Shaman Kings of the past. Well, only some of them though. Not everyone cooperated with me." Slayer said, "So, thanks to their inputs, I've been successful in creating it."
"So, what's the plan now?" The Shaman King asked, clenching his hand into a fist, unable to feel any difference in his powers due to the arrival of the Totem System.
"It's a simple process." Slayer began to speak, watching the Shaman King's eyes widen in shock the longer he spoke.
Eventually, the Shaman King laughed, patting Slayer's shoulder, "You're a mad man! I love it!"
"You're by far the first Shaman King to be this interested in this," Slayer said, genuinely impressed by the other party.
"Well, once I die, my race pretty much returns to their old selves once again." The Shaman King shrugged, "Since I had nothing better to do, I planned to invade some Kingdoms, knock up the women of multiple races and simply increase the number of Goblins until my death. But this…"
"Is more interesting."
"And also…" He continued, stating in confidence, "I feel there is a meaning to this, unlike my existence."
"Thank you." Slayer laughed, pointing at the Ruin of Amagoth far away, "Let's get going, shall we?"
"Turn me into a human now." The Shaman King said as immediately, the entirety of his mana burst out of his body before it was swallowed by the Totem System in his body.
Slayer erected a barrier around them to prevent the other Demons from sensing their actions, watching the Shaman King condense the entirety of his power, authority, and protection from the Shaman profession into the Totem System.
In response, the Totem System did something to his bloodline as Slayer took the chance, erecting a large magic circle filled to the brim with runes flashing with a dense concentration of mana, hundreds of times what a Saint wielded.
Immediately, the Shaman King's body began to shrink in response, rapidly turning into a human as the magic circle was slowly shrinking into him, pausing as Slayer asked, "What profession do you wish to have as a Human?"
"Cartographer, nothing else." The Shaman King spoke.
"Alright," Slayer didn't question further as the magic circle vanished, completing the race change as the Shaman King was now a Pseudo-Saint Cartographer.
"This is a complete transformation. Feels great to be part of a different race." The Shaman King smiled as he entered the Ruin of Amagoth next, using his abilities as a cartographer as he reached the core in an hour, something the Demons had yet to achieve even after raiding it for a month.
After all, there were too many Magic Beasts and traps in the place. Typically, it would take at least a year to reach the core region unless a Saint took action, which wouldn't happen, for the sealed entity was only a Pseudo-Saint. So, the Saints weren't interested.
"Who…are you?" Tehela was shocked to see a human arrive first, despite those raiding the Ruin of Amagoth were all Demons.
In response to her question, the Shaman King stared at the human lady before him, smiling as he said, "Call me Regriel."
