488 I’ll Wait While You Prepare

Bang!

A pebble slammed into Dwun, causing him to slide a foot backwards in response to the impact. There was a mild mark that formed on his skin, but nothing beyond that. Once he dusted himself, the mark vanished, displaying the terrifying toughness of his body.

In response, the cultivator titled Beast Lord grinned, summoning a pufferfish that resembled a corpse. The pufferfish absorbed the ambient Origin Essence and spat out the corpse of a human, a zombie, shrinking in response.

Immediately after that, the pufferfish expanded in size before spitting out a zombie cat. One after another, it began to spit out numerous creatures, all zombies.

This was the reason he was termed the Beast Lord, for he was capable of controlling a horde of beasts.

The Beast Lord spanned a height of three metres, having shoulders that were three-fourths his height, hulking projections of bone within which soft flesh squirmed. It was like he was wearing a chitin armour full of bones.

He originated from the Licalm Race, a troublesome race that truly loved to torture its opponents while eating them alive. This was their custom, and hence being one of the most active races in the arena.

Upon seeing the Beast Lord continuing to puff out countless zombies, Dwun didn't take action, calmly waiting as the size of the army continued to increase.

Pebbles from the twisters slammed everywhere, sometimes hitting the zombies, injuring them from time to time. But, even if they suffered an attack, none of them flinched, for they were walking corpses.

"Oh, ho? Dwun is taking a different approach this time. Until now, he always pummelled his opponents using his tough body right from the get-go. But this time, he seems cautious. Will this year's darkhorse hit his limit? Or will he prevail?" The anchor announced excitedly.

"Booo!" The crowd jeered at his inactiveness, chanting, "Coward! Coward! Coward! Coward!"

"Tch!" Dwun felt irritated at their chants, wishing to go and beat up everyone immediately. But, he forcefully calmed himself down, 'No, I shouldn't give in to this level of taunt. It would be a hundred times worse while facing Compass Carburettor.'

Since he had his ass handed down to him once by Compass Carburettor, schemed against casually by the other party, Dwun no longer took actions through impulse.

Even though it wasn't in his nature, he gave things some thought before leaping into the heart of the chaos. Basically, he thought about the reason behind the fight itself instead of just thinking about the fight like before.

'This pressure isn't enough.' He thought, gazing at the army that continued to grow, 'No, it would be larger and more menacing if it's under Compass Carburettor.'

And hence, he just waited, hoping to see how much of an army his opponent could raise. After all, if he wins in such a situation where the advantage of his luck was negated by the very environment itself, then it would prove to be of tremendous use in his fight against Compass Carburettor.

It wasn't just enough if the opponent was life-threatening. The opponent should be so strong that Dwun would be like an ant in comparison. And winning against such odds would be what was necessary for him to bridge the gap between himself and the Main Character.

And hence, he just allowed the opponent to build up an army, calmly making a note of every single zombie.

At first, the Beast Lord felt like the opponent was just mocking him by not taking action. But upon feeling Dwun's fighting spirit that continued to spike in response to the army build-up, he snorted, "Lunatic!"

Of course, he had met many lunatics that felt the most alive in situations where they kissed and had intercourse with death. And, Dwun seemed like the most perverse version of that.

But, he had always dispatched such individuals to have a more intimate relationship with death. And now, he planned to do the same and kill Dwun as mercilessly as possible.

"Your death would be glorious." He smirked, licking his lips in excitement as his Martial Spirit continued to spit out zombies.

And it always did so by absorbing the ambient Origin Essence. Hence, his Origin Essence reserves were always at an optimal level.

This way, even if Dwun did something surprising, he would have enough energy to defend himself and retaliate strongly.

Thud! Bang! Boom!

Pebbles continued to slam into him as Dwun's figure trembled from time to time due to the nonstop impacts. What was surprising was the muffled sounds that resounded from the impacts.

His body soaked up all the generated sound, which was pretty much particle vibrations.

Slowly, a pair of gauntlets manifested in his hands that he slammed into one another, creating a minor shockwave, for a moment stopping the pebbles that were about to slam into him.

Dwun slowly began to walk towards a nearby twister as his body resisted all the pebbles that slammed into him with greater numbers as he approached it closer and closer. Suddenly, the moment he approached it, Dwun expanded his hand, unleashing a loud clap,

Bang!

A powerful shockwave was unleashed from his gauntlets like a wave that was unleashed tangentially towards the tornado, rapidly increasing its spinning velocity by ten times. And with the rate at which it spun, all the pebbles were ejected out of it by force at speeds vastly greater than before.

The pebbles were ejected at ten times stronger acceleration. And surprisingly, it seemed Dwun had calculated the instant when the pebbles escaped the centripetal force acting within it, directing it in such a way that the pebbles exited tangentially at the moment where they were aimed at the target.

Thanks to this, the pebbles slammed into the horde of zombies, directly slaughtering dozens of zombies instantly.

Following that, Dwun punched forth at the Tornado, affecting its Coriolis force in such a way that the tornado began to move towards the zombie army at speeds resembling a racing car, surprising the Beast Lord.

He hadn't ever expected that Dwun would use the environment in such a fashion, having truly underestimated his opponent as a tenth of his zombies were pulled into the tornado, and spun helplessly before being thrown far away. Their bodies shattered from the impact into the barrier surrounding the arena.

And surprisingly, Dwun stopped after the two attacks, extending his hand towards the Beast Lord, "I'll wait. Give me your best shot."
