I Hate Systems

462 So, It’s You

Clang!

Warktor was surprised to see his Lava Chakram being flung away the moment it slammed into Ranze. Though, it wasn't Ranze that deflected it as Warktor felt something was amiss, observing mild changes in the mist far away.

"Shit!" He shouted in reflex when something morphed in the mist as a figure rushed at him with blinding speed, faster than a cheetah.

It was a bi-pedal creature, possessing traits of a wolf with enlarged claws that glinted in the mist-tinted atmosphere. Its brown fur waved through the air as the creature rapidly zoomed in on Warktor.

Wolverine!

In response, he unleashed countless streaks of light at the foe, intending to destroy him, going all out due to the sense of threat he felt, which was many times greater than what he sensed from Ranze, Xuer, and Bunuela combined.

Swoosh!

The wolverine's body was like a strand of grass that wriggled like water, seeping in through the gaps between his various attacks, quickly approaching him.

Warktor hurriedly dissipated the flung away Lava Chakram, recondensing it before himself as a shield, causing it to rotate rapidly as it gushed a column of lava at the wolverine.

He was hoping to gain a second to breathe and regulate his attacks using this. But contrary to his expectations, the wolverine didn't evade the stream of lava but directly plunged into it.

Shockingly, the lave defied every logic, curving around its body, allowing the wolverine to approach him.

"What the…?" Warktor was shocked, for the scene before him could only be achieved by expending an insane amount of luck that would be hard for even the Systems Hosts for Luck-based Systems.

He then grunted, bellowing, "You're in my range. No matter, I'll steal all your luck!"

Clang!

Warktor was flabbergasted, noticing that his Luck Siphon hadn't worked for the first time. Even the Luck Siphon System in his mind was in disbelief, unable to understand why its power hadn't worked, for this had never happened even once in its super long life, not in any other Luck-based Systems' life either.

The wolverine slammed its fist into the Lava Chakram, piercing through it as its claws plunged into Warktor's chest, causing him to cough out blood.

His eyes slowly widened as he activated his luck detection method, gazing at the wolverine's luck, shocked because he wasn't able to see anything. It was as if the opponent didn't have any luck whatsoever.

[I refuse to believe this is true!]

The Luck Siphon System bellowed as it churned the limit of its power, amplifying the luck detection method to the extreme when slowly, the sky above the wolverine seemed to flicker, seeming like there was something there, but hidden.

Boom!

Once it unleashed the entirety of its power, the wolverine's luck was no longer hidden. But, upon seeing it, even the Luck Siphon System was in disbelief.

[T-This is…possible?]

Warktor's gaze moved upward, gazing at what seemed to be the feet of a human, one that seemed as vast that it could cover the skies. But, this was just the foot of the human. The rest of the body was so high up that he couldn't even see anything. His line of sight stopped a bit above the ankle. A conceptualised luck unlike anything.

"Who…are you…?" Warktor asked in shock before he realised something, "I should have thought it better. There's only one that's this frightening."

He then gazed at the wolverine, "Welcome back, Rhizen."

"We'll talk in the next loop, Sir." The wolverine opened its mouth and spoke before ripping out Warktor's body, killing him.

Ranze stared at the scene agape, unable to digest just what had transpired before him. Warktor, such a frightening opponent had been destroyed so easily by this bi-pedal creature before him.

The wolverine turned around to stare at Ranze before vanishing.

At the same time, the mist throughout the island began to vanish within a matter of seconds as more than a dozen Compass Carburettors appeared, stunning Chenger. That wasn't all, five Grishas too appeared, slamming attacks onto her in such a flurry that she was unable to even react to them.

"You weren't dead yet?" She shouted in alarm when suddenly, space cracked right beside her as a two-headed tiger jumped out and clamped on her neck. The second head crunched on her Vapour Fan, shattering it, turning her into a mortal instantly.

Her massive reserve of luck indeed tried to manipulate cause and effect just like before, but it didn't work this time, for some inexplicable reason.

Slowly, the sounds of a man's footsteps resounded as Chenger teared up, relieved, breaking into a cry immediately, "I thought I wouldn't see you again!"

"Silly." The man slowly pulled her into a hug after making the two-headed tiger vanish, "We'll meet again after fifteen years."

"We'll fall in love again, like usual, suffer like usual, and continue with our lives." The man said, patting the back of her head, "But the only difference would be that we'll live on our own terms from the next loop."

"And, I'll do something to break us out of our cycle of despair." He spoke, "So, will you forgive me just this once?"

"I've been manipulated by Shyvern many times and have hurt you time and again." Chenger spoke slowly, "So, I don't mind. At least, this might reduce my pain by a little."

"Silly, you know I've never blamed you." He smiled, ruffling her hair as he said, "Even if your face is damaged by acid, I wouldn't ever abandon you. For me…"

"You'll be the one and only Chenger."

"Heuk!" Chenger began to cry again, for this was something that continued to haunt her. It was what Shyvern had traumatised her with in the latest loop. She hugged the man tightly, saying, "I believe you, Rhizen."

"I've always believed you."

"You'll be asleep for a short while, Chenger." Rhizen smiled, wiping her tears as he said, "When you wake up next, you'll be free from all trauma."

"I…don't want to forget this," Chenger said, "Everything that we experienced, I will remember it. I don't want to be a naïve girl that's in love with you without knowing about any of your pain. I'll…shoulder everything with you."

"Atta girl!" He smiled as the wolverine appeared behind her, severing her neck in one full swing. Rhizen held her corpse, shedding tears as he gazed at the sky, slowly muttering after a while, "Fucker, I won't kill you. Come out,"

"Compass!"
