How to Raise Your Regressor
Chapter 182 - Pay Up
But Samur had enough. Why should he have to pay out of his own pocket to arm a motherfucking Dragon with guns?
He decided that starting now, he'll charge everyone a small fee for every 'unofficial' thing or service he'll provide them.
Want a sniper rifle? Pay up.
Want a new Dragon Vampire Shadowlord Hybrid Heart? Pay up.
Want the ability to manipulate causality itself? You guessed it right. Pay the fuck up, bitch.
Of course, because Samur was an incredibly gud boi, he'll only charge 3 times the actual amount of money it will cost to provide that item or service.
It hurt his heart, but he decided to make a sacrifice for his precious comrades. Otherwise, he would have asked for 30 times the amount..
Hmm, perhaps he should open a side business in the black market and sell these things to earn some of that sweet G's?
「I'm not talking about that,」 Neia's words brought him out of his reveries.
Right, he was here to rescue a motherfucking comrade- who, by the way, he had deliberately allowed to get kidnapped because it would make for the perfect situation to test out his now destroyed drone.
…
Oof.
Anyway, he was here to rescue Lecia, not make a business plan to become the richest man on this planet.
He could do that later.
Imagine though; just how many chocolate shakes could he get from all that money?
"Then what were you talking about?" Samur asked as he put his desires on hold.
As stated before, he could get all the chocolate shakes later.
「What if they use that sniper rifle against us?」
"Ah, are you worried that they could reverse engineer the sniper rifle to acquire the manufacturing method?"
「Yeah,」 Neia nodded.
It would be a disaster if that happened.
She had killed so many people with just a single sniper rifle/
She could only imagine the havoc they would wreak if they got their hands on the means to mass produce these sniper rifles.
"There's no need to worry about that. The version they have is already outdated."
「What?」 Neia furrowed her brows.
That Sniper rifle was outdated?
"Here, have the Gauss Sabot Rifle Mk-VII."
「…What?」 Before Neia could fully register his words (they were that absurd, after all), a small magical formation appeared in the air beside her. 「Teleportation magic?!」
"Not exactly. Anyway, use this to kill these fuckers."
That's assuming there would be anyone left to kill.
After all, Samur had already killed more than 70% of these guys.
There was no doubt that the guards stationed here to protect Lecia and Tristan were the elites of the elites.
This particular group was a battalion formed of both mages and knights. Among the knights, there were those who specialised in assault and those who specialised in defence.
Their usual tactic was simple.
Based on the battlefield, the mages would take up either the rear or the centre and cast various types of spells on their enemies.
They would be protected by the knights specialising in defence. These knights used auras to both augment their bodies and to create large, impenetrable shields.
It was said that even High-Level spells struggled to penetrate their defence.
Finally, was the vanguard, the knights who could attack using Aura. Their main job was to cooperate with the mages to take the lives of their enemies.
And till now, they had been pretty good at it.
Alas, this time, their opponent was none other than Samur.
The first thing that surprised them was that he could rapidly cast magic spells without uttering a single chant.
Chants were created in order to systematically manipulate the mana to create the magical formation required to cast a spell.
Of course, most of the work, like the calculations of the magic system, had to be done by the magician himself, but chants guided the mana to work in tandem with the magician.
That's why chantless magic casting was incredibly rare; it was considerably faster, no doubt, but it put a huge burden on the caster.
However, Samur was rapidly invoking these spells, and he wasn't even breaking a sweat.
Even if they put aside his monstrous talent, casting so many spells (well, a single spell several times, actually) should have surely put a strain on his mana pool.
The ice spear he was using was an intermediate level spell at best. That's what the mages had determined based on the amount of mana it used and its complexity.
So, no matter how efficiently he was casting the spell, his mana should have dried up by now.
However, his mana reserves showed no signs of depleting. Casting this many spells should have mentally exhausted him by now, but there was no sign of that either.
But it would have been fine if it was just that. Any knight and magician worth their salt were used to having battles with actual monsters with mana pools and stamina way greater than theirs.
That's exactly why they fought in groups.
But there was a second, and perhaps the biggest, problem. The ice spears themselves.
The spell producing those spears was nothing more than an intermediate level spell. It should not have been enough to pierce their defences.
Yet somehow, it was.
For some reason, the spears were strong enough to destroy both the Aura shields deployed by the knights and the Mana shields deployed by the mages.
Each time Samur fired his spear, it travelled with a speed greater than sound and simply destroyed their defences.
And each time he fired his spear, someone died.
The vanguard did their best to kill, or even stop Samur from firing the spears, but they couldn't even approach him.
Samur had conjured hundreds of spears, but instead of firing them all at once and ending them once and for all, he had chosen to keep the spears with himself.
And those spears acted as his guard.
As if they had a mind of their own, they independently moved whenever a knight approached him; they swiftly ended their enemies' lives.
They did the same for any spell the mages fired at him. Fireballs, thunder, artillery spells et cetera were all rendered useless in the face of his spears' might.
The intermediate level spell he was using was both the ultimate offence and defence.
However, that wasn't all.
The moment one of the mages tried to fire a gravity type spell that would act on the entire area Samur was in, something happened.
The shields beside him burst apart and his head exploded.
